2014 SF Trevon Bluiett to UCLA
LINK to 247 page.
Sucks to lose him, looked like a good player that was high on Michigan. On to the next.
EDIT: Changed title to 2014 to reflect proper year. Had 2015 previously, thus some of the comments below.

doesn't take place until 2016 recruiting class. Most of the work are usually done at 14 and 15 class.

'14 class wouldn't see much though. Certainly '16 you're probably hitting your peak, after that it becomes too distant and too "what have you done for me lately".

what I mean. Michigan are in with a lot of elite prospects like Swanigan, Thornton, Winston, Gordon, Towns, and Battle.
I do agree that there will be some effect for 2015 class. Hopefully, Michigan can follow up with another Sweet 16 or Elite 8 appearance to strengthen their recruiting further.

Clearly Beilein made a huge mistake not hiring the kid's HS coach. /s
UCLA wasn't anywhere on that kid's top 5-10 list until they hired his HS coach. Beilein didn't blow it, he just didn't compromise his coaching tree to pick up one kid.
Forest>tree.

You don't think the career trajectories of Shabazz Muhammed and Kenny Anderson were the primary reason for this committment?

Beilein is losing players - I wonder if the perception that he is a system coach is deterring a lot of these recrutis.

I think in reagrds to the 2014 class he's going after a slightly different class of recruits and while I think he wanted Bluiett, I think the focus is more on Booker and a few other players, whereas I think Lavin put the full court press on Bluiett the moment he was hired by UCLA. Sometimes you just get beat, don' think I'd read anything into it.

Frustrating but it happens. Good luck to him. I'm hoping we do get Blackmon.

Even if everything goes as expected with GRIII playing in the NBA in 2014, we'll still be stacked (and experienced) at the swing position. That probably weighed a bunch in Blueitt's decision, as he obviously picked the school where he'll have less to show the coaching staff to be able to get minutes right off the bat. A combo foward with more size is a bigger need for our 2014 class anyway (if I could get my pick of any one of our targets to commit to UM, I'd pick Devin Robinson).

You win some, you lose some. I have faith the coaching staff will still bring in good kids for the program and the school.

It's too bad. I liked Bluiett more than Booker by a smidge. But hope we get the latter or Chatman or Blackmon now.
