(OT) Saturday Night Drinking Thread
Since the BBQ at the Big House probably won't include any beer, we on MGoBlog should probably make up for their thirst. Obviously didn't dissuade George Campbell, though. Whatcha drinkin', whatcha doin'?
Me? Drinking Uinta Brewing Co. Golden Spike, watching the ball game (thank goodness for MLB.com's free game of the day), and reading. Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling is the current selection.
Mixed and matched a sixer from Mariano's here in Chicago. Had a Dales, then a NASTY beer brewed with "ancho chili." Not good...but I still drank it because, well because it was paid for.
....although I wish one of these would pull into the driveway to provide a little more...
Pinnacle. Again.
Bud Light unfortunately.
Bud Light unfortunately.
Widmer Drop Top. Chases ribs and potato salad real well.
Settling in to the new house, so busting out a KBS to celebrate.
Also, not enough points to post, but Jonas Mouton tore his ACL and is out for the season with the Chargers. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/360940427903385601/
Gratz on the house, and the KBS, but not having enough points is a good thing in your case because the Mouton story is about two-thirds down the way on the mgoboard.
So it is, I'm gonna go ahead and blame the beer
A GF that enjoys 90 minute? You done well.
Not drinking, but I didn't want to start a Tigers thread with the game being half over. Shout out to Cabrera and Hunter back in the lineup. Cabrera goes yard in his 1st AB back and Max going for #15 on his birthday. Tigers blowing out the Phillies. http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=330727106
Darkhorse is in Marshall. Greenbush is very good too and that's in Sawyer. I'd skip the Oberon and the Two hearted and go to Bells for whatever the experimental is.
Bells has plenty to offer that compares to some of the So Cal, as does Founders. If you're into the nostalgic favorites, well they are nostalgic, and also based on old recipes that won't measure up, frankly. I'm a big fan of SoCal beer, with the Bruery being my favorite with Bear and RR being close. Since their one-offs and seasonals are not well distributed here, and RR basically not at all (I have to get that from www.windycityliquor.com) I have to find suitable replacements.
Head up to Warren and hit Kuhnhen. The DRIPA is tremendous and unique. Their Fluffer is a full flavor session. Its easily the best beer on the east side of the state. You need to go there because they don't bottle, or if they have its new to me. If you can't get to GR or Kazoo go here.
The Michigan Tap Room in Saginaw offers 20+ taps of Michigan only beers. If you are looking for a good slice of Michigan beer, that's a great place to start. Its a bit of a haul, but if you're looking for the grand sampler, that's where I'd go.
I've been routinely disappointed Atwater, New Holland and Shorts (although Shorts has its moments). I know that will upset some here but if you are partial to the west coast style you will not find these as palatable as the ones I've suggested.
A bowl of what? Soup?
All Day IPA with Sharknado on the TV and the Tigers on the desktop.
Firestone Walker Wookey Jack bomber and some Great Divide Nomad in between for beverages
Molson Canadian. When I'm away from home (Michigan), as I've been the last six years, no beer kindles my heart like Two Hearted Ale, and when I can't find Bell's, anything cheap and Canadian is an acceptable, if far inferior, replacement. I much prefer this to the common on-tap domestics.
It's like Don Cherry visiting Joe Louis Arena and being swaddled by his neck tie.
Carlsberg Elephant
sugar free hawaiian punch, a.k.a, purple drank
I'm drinking the GC=AC Kool-Aid Oh Yeah
/s
With a few shots of my special Don Julio 1942 mixed in...might bust out a Montecristo to cap off the Campbell celebration tonight. It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
Got back from the BTN B10K. Ran 43:20 in the 10K. Slow for me, but I ran to have fun. I had a blast at the event. I started next to Gerry Dinardo and Dan Revsine. Nice guys. At the finish Marcus Ray was there and was giving all of the Michigan runners the highest of high fives. I saw a lot of Michigan runners in the 10K. I love the free beer for runners (Goose Island 312) at the post race tailgate. I just wish they had the slip n slide at the halfway point before the race because it was not on when I got to it.
after mucking out stalls in the barn, loading in a new steer, and generally cleaning up for a visiting family tomorrow.
The best triple IPA i've had... favorite as of late
