Charles Woodson signs with Raiders
The tweet below says it all.
Raiders and Charles Woodson have agreed to a one-year deal, as @jayglazer reported.

How about that contract signing attire!
...that he still loves Michigan.
The money he raises, the interviews, the documentaries, the public appearances...I think that stuff is truly special.
Screw a patch, give that man a statue.
I still love those Raider's jerseys since I was a child of the 80s-90s, but I would have rather seen Chuck in Buffalo or Detroit.
I was actually kind of hoping he'd be making another Super Bowl run this coming season, maybe with the Broncos. They'd have a good shot, plus it'd be weird to see Peyton and Woodson on the same team.
A good point, But even better would be for him to be in the same division as Manning and Grab like 6 picks from him in two regular season games plus one wild card... and then win the Super Bowl. F that Tennessee bastard! That would be the cherry!
Because Manning couldn't win another Super Bowl without Charles winning one too.
I could see if no one else offered him playing whereever there was a contract. But if the offer from Denver was real, taking $600k to go from a contender to a horrible team is a surprising decision.
You can always go home. I wish him a healthy season!
Really wish he would have signed with the Broncos though.
Glad to see another member of the "F" Thomas Wolfe fan club. My freshman year of high school my English teacher hand picked the books we had to do a report on. Everyone else got 100 - 200 page books. I got "Look Homeward Angel". Almost 600 pages of boredom! Yes, I'm still bitter. No, I'm not in counseling! Carrying on with normal adult life now.
Good for CW, but not a big fan of the Raiders. Too bad someone that is more in line to contend for a championship didn't make an offer.
I grew up during the 49ers dynasty and my family didn't have strong NFL ties, so I've never really been invested in an NFL franchise. When I lived in San Diego, I watched the Chargers, when I was in Texas, I watched the Cowboys (Houston is just the worst place ever). Like just about every kid, I thought Joe Montana and Jerry Rice rocked, so I have some good memories there. On the other hand, the Raiders were always creepy with their zombie owner and fans.
Huge Raiders fan - was so excited to see him go to Raiders in 98. Was so sad to see him leave Oakland a few years ago. Now over-joyed to see him finish his career in the silver and black. I can wear my Raiders gear with pride - for the first time in years.
He spent a good chunk of his professional career there. He wasn't shy about wanting to go back there to finish out his career.
No, they aren't contenders. But it's not the craziest pick.
Because he's Charles fucking Woodson, that's why Lions fans want him.
as a player given his age and current skills. Not because he's CHARLES WOODSON!
Was hoping he'd come and shore up the Redskins secondary for a year. Even if he was terrible I'd still own his home and away jerseys. Was at the very least hoping he'd go to a team I liked so I could have a cool random jersey, exactly like the Broncos.
Still, hope he dominates and picks off Pryor constantly in practice.
I'd certainly wear Charles Woodson's.
Yo_Wife and I met Charles at a Mott Tailgate in Northville. The guy was totally on top of things - he gave a ten minute talk about the importance of Mott and the great work they do. He named and thanked the doctors who were there as well as the four families who hosted the event. He was passionate about it and impressively, used no note cards.
Charles gave my wife hell about wearing red to the event. When he found out she was an Ohio grad he rolled his eyes and laughed but congratulated her for having Michigan season tickets and the intelligence to marry a Michigan man.
I thought I was impressed with Charles before the event - he moved many steps up the pedestal following it.
(Sorry about this - I know, cool story bro)
Is Denver a better option as far as being a contender goes? Absolutely. But Woodson has got nothing left to prove. He's already had a long, illustrious career in the NFL. He's won a Super Bowl, and has made a case for himself to potentially be honored in Canton one day. Why not go back and play for a city that loves you and wants you back badly? In my opinion, the man couldn't ask for a better ending to his career.
Here's the welcoming committee...
Supposedly, per a Raiders blog, they lined up this welcome before he actually signed as a demonstration of the support Woodson could expect from them. He didn't arrive at the Raiders' offices until the middle of the afternoon, but they were apparently ready.
Woodson and Terrelle in the same basket is...interesting. Sir Charles is still the man.
I wish he would have retired than go to the Raiders.........
As a guy who doesn't have a ":favorite team" in the NFL and just has favorite players I will cheer for the Raiders for this season. I just hope that when he decides it's time to hang up the shoulder pads and call it a career he decides to return to UM in a coaching capacity. That would be some selling power on the recruiting trail..Superbowl rings, national championship ring, heisman trophy, future hall of famer...Plus I'm sure he could do a hell of a job coaching as well. I can't overstate how much I would love to see that happen.
Hard to check on his grapes while in Detroit or Denver
