Congrats Michigan

Relevant? Coming from a Sparty? [Redacted]
[ED:BISB - joyous day or not, asshattery will not be tolerated]

I was talking mostly about us lol.

about this so-called "rivalry" except a hand-full of Michigan die-hards and the entire sparty nation. Other than that, no one cares about moo u. This game gets trumped by Wiskey and Minny for ABC.
Now I will say the best staee player was the punter. His punts were high and he pulled off the fake punt very well.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:26 PM ^
Truth hurts sometimes.
October 21st, 2012 at 1:33 AM ^
No one cares about this "rivalry" because it is not a rivalry. It is a meaningful Legends division game so it is important. However, it is not a rivalry.
October 21st, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
Yeah, it's not a game where you'd storm the field after winning or anything like that.
Oh wait.
October 21st, 2012 at 2:48 PM ^
that was for the 900th win i felt, more than the victory over msu
October 21st, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
is something to be proud of. I dont blame the students for wanting to celebrate something special.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
Your remark is assinine. The OP has been a reasonable contributor on this site for a long time. His comments have been - and remain - welcome. Yours, however, could stand some improvement.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:01 PM ^
October 20th, 2012 at 10:16 PM ^
Yes, the OP has been a reasonable contributor and there is no reason he won't be in the future but to call the Winter Blue's remark assinine is an overreaction. You could not surmise that the OP was not referring to today's game as being the defining moment of "relevant" whether he meant it or not. You're comment is out of place and unnecesary. If you truly believe it was assinine you have stooped to his level.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:27 PM ^
I didn't stoop to his level, because I didn't use profanity in any way.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
I may have overreacted myself but I standby the rest of my comments unless you correct me again as you rightly did here.
October 20th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
The rest of your comments aren't at issue. I just thought that the original remark made - which I labeled "assinine" - was pretty dickish. The Spartan dude didn't seem like he meant any harm, and to basically get told to go @#$% himself seemed way out of line.
October 20th, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
Hey, OP. Football didn't commence in 2008. Judging on the fact that we won number 900 today, I'm pretty sure the sport has been around for a very long time.
October 21st, 2012 at 12:08 PM ^
Yeah, really classy there. I know it's redacted, but no need for that type of internet tough-guy talk.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:53 PM ^
Relevant now? Why was the game on BTN then?
Anyways. Paul is here to stay. For many moons.
As for basketball season, Michigan is now a machine. They are at the point to where they aren't rebuilding, they are reloading. I'm salivating at the depth on this team. Should be fun.
Noticed you didn't bring up hockey playing in three weeks. Not surprised given what's transpired recently.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:54 PM ^
I don't watch Hockey. College nor Pro.
October 20th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^
It is just eerie how much this man = Dantonio
October 20th, 2012 at 10:07 PM ^
We can certainly hope for it, but as we haven't been to the Final Four in "many moons", let's not count our chickens just yet, mmmkay?
October 20th, 2012 at 10:16 PM ^
I said nothing about the Final Four. I said the program is a machine and is reolading with great talent. (Exit: Darius Morris, Enter: Trey Burke)
Plus a B1G Championship, being featured on college gameday and having a ton of nationally televised games this season speaks volumes that this program isn't ON it's way back. It's back.

Again, nice to see that MGoBlog has its collection of internet tough guys.
UM won. Be happy. Spartanfan has been a good contributor here; no reason to not be able to handle a gentle ribbing.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
I don't know why Spartan fans are looking forward to basketball season when I look at what Michigan is bringing and State isn't.
(I know the Big 10 and the basketball rivalry will be fierce.)

Sam Webb, a very pro UM radio personallity, treats MSU like Valenti treats UM. The point is that fans on the radio are still fans. Valenti is very even handed and rational at most sports, except college athletics, where his fandom comes out. I won't hold that against him, as pro UM fans would do the same thing
October 21st, 2012 at 3:00 PM ^
when the Tigers lost to CWS he proclained the Tigers "dead", "terrible" "Leyland must go". He alsow said the "You will never get by the Yankees"
Valenti is a loud mouth, blow-hard. Webb is at least level headed.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
SUCK IT.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
This rivalry will cease to be relevant now that you've returned to your historic norm.
If you show up to congratulate us with a subtle dig, what do you expect us to say? You're 4-4, 1-3 in the B1G, and not even certain for a bowl. You can talk about our rivalry being relevant when you are a good team, K?
October 21st, 2012 at 9:23 AM ^
than we are. Next year's game may be hotly contested, too. After THAT, yes, they may slide back into mediocrity.
They certainly seem to have little fan support NOW. . .
October 20th, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
A vanquished opponent came to offer his congratulations and take his lumps. This takes the kind of cojones few would offer. As for the "relevant" part, he wasn't talking about Michigan being relevant. He's saying that the game more important than it has been in decades past.
Good on ya, Sparty. See ya next year.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:20 PM ^
Hey, he could have posted the same in any number of threads about the game. Instead he started a new thread... with provocative wording. I can understand why people might view his post as trolling, and respond accordingly.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:21 PM ^
It takes internet cojones...What are those worth? For the record I have the biggest "cojones" because I'm calling a respected mod out. Yes, "He's saying that the game [is] more imporant than it has been in decades past" but that clarification was made after the original statement and you can't assume that based on the original post.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:24 PM ^
Because I have read everything that has ever been written in the history of things, and am now the perfect arbitor of intended tone of internet statements.
October 20th, 2012 at 10:29 PM ^
I have no reason to doubt you at all.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
If you're bowl eligible. The only easy win Sparty has left is Minnie.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:57 PM ^
Yeah, this game means way more to lil brother than it does to THE University of Michigan. lil brother, you may now return to your regularly scheduled mediocre 5-7, 6-6 seasons. YOUR national championship run has ended...LOL!
October 20th, 2012 at 9:58 PM ^
Congratulations on a hard fought game. Not an easy one to take, and certainly not easy to come here after a loss. Catch 'ya next year.
October 20th, 2012 at 9:59 PM ^
I think I know what you wanted to write, but - woah - reconsider the use of that word.
October 21st, 2012 at 5:56 AM ^
I think that he meant that now that both teams are solid at the same time, and either team is capable of winning the game, the rilvary is relavant again.
I agree with that. MSU ain't going away. As long as they are in our division, they will be a key game each year. No, they won't go on any more streaks of 4 in a row while we are sleep walking, but they will not be the Sparty of old either.
October 21st, 2012 at 9:56 AM ^
Like I wrote, I understand the point he was trying to make. It was probably the punctuation error (?) in his statement that made the word "relevant" seem like a left-handed (or even off-putting) remark.
Like many have posted on this site in the past "Kill Grandma" =/= "Kill, Grandma". Punctuation saves lives.

seem to grassp the fact that you have to have player that can make plays. Dantonio cant recurit and dispite what the rcmb says, they do NOT recruit nationally. Check the facts.
I know that 2 and 3 star players can be coached up. But Dantonio has proven himself to be just an average coach. He cant wave a magic wand and get a team full of 5 star players.
The wonderful thing about data is that history is the best teacher and the data always regresses toward the mean. As long as sparty continues to recruit 2 and 3 star players, they will fall back into mediocracy.

@Spartanfan123 - Back atcha. Good game and (possibly) good luck against Nebraska. Any hope that Max Bullough goes pro next year? (pleasepleaseplease)
October 20th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
Dont worry, we have 2 more Bullough's in the pipeline. One's a freshman, one's a 2014 commit. All play LB. Love that family.
October 21st, 2012 at 1:48 AM ^
Looking at the direction two programs are heading, nobody hear really worry about mini Bullough's that you guys are bringing in. They will hear about good old days MSU beat Michigan from his brother.
