Who would have guessed that the pitcher who got the Tigers bats going would be CC freakin' Sabathia? This team is truly built for the post-season and I for one feel real good about their chances.

TBS takes it to a new low after that one.
October 18th, 2012 at 5:58 PM ^
After what?
October 18th, 2012 at 6:01 PM ^
Jinxing Scherzer.

October 18th, 2012 at 6:15 PM ^
Ahhhhh, gotcha.
Never thought I would say this, but I miss Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.

October 18th, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
Can't blame 'em when it would appear that the first people to give up on the Yankees were the Yankees.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:00 PM ^
something special to watch, or what?
October 18th, 2012 at 5:59 PM ^
The Yankees should just give up and get no-hit
Pathetic offense from them
October 18th, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
It's looking like they have given up.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:00 PM ^
...when the Pistons just demolished the Lakers.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:03 PM ^
That Lakers team was 100x the team this Yankees squad is, plus that was actually in the NBA finals. But I can sorta kinda see what you're saying =P.

October 18th, 2012 at 6:07 PM ^
This pitching staff is almost as dangerous as that 2004 defense. Damn
October 18th, 2012 at 6:07 PM ^
October 18th, 2012 at 6:08 PM ^
Supposedly he is on a 100 pitch limit. With his recent shoulder issues I would say that holds. In order for him to finish the game he would have to go well over 100 so..
October 18th, 2012 at 6:10 PM ^
...he's done after the sixth and then it time to let the bullpen get some work.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:27 PM ^
October 18th, 2012 at 6:16 PM ^
Does Craig Sager dress like that so he can be used as a navigational reference? Is there a clear answer on this?
October 18th, 2012 at 6:19 PM ^
Well, no-hitter is over. Good effort Scherzer
October 18th, 2012 at 6:34 PM ^
If the game stays non competitive do you guys think Leyland should put Valverde in there in the 9th to get him ready for next series, or put Coke in to continue getting him experience in the closer role?
October 18th, 2012 at 6:37 PM ^
Depends on the how you define "close" - that definition is very vague when Valverde is involved
October 18th, 2012 at 6:48 PM ^
Valverde. And I'll bet Leyland does it, too. I think you gotta get him a no-pressure kind of inning. The boost to the psyche of potentially putting the finishing touches on the pennant in front of a wildly happy home crowd could be big.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
I agree with this completely. Put him out there with a good lead and give him a chance to get some action and get some confidence back.

Very Ballsy performance by max.

October 18th, 2012 at 7:02 PM ^
You know, walking back to the dugout after his strikeout, Curtis Granderson seemed somewhat nonplussed, and Girardi seemed genuinely upset and hurt at the call. This encapsulates the Yankees emotionally in this series.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:05 PM ^
AJAX!
October 18th, 2012 at 7:23 PM ^
this series, good thing it's almost over with. Would it kill them to give the Tigers a decent amount of credit, instead of focusing on what the Yankees haven't done in the series. The Tigers starting staff was on roll before this series, they have been pitching lights out for the last four or five weeks.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:17 PM ^
THREE MORE OUTS
October 18th, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
...like the Yankess most valuable player of the series might be Nunez?!
October 18th, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
In 2006 I didn't fully appreciate the postseason run. Just being in the playoffs for the first time in 19 years seemed enough. Now I'm greedy. Let's go all the way!
October 18th, 2012 at 7:23 PM ^
JHONNY! 8-1 TIGERS!
One or two more runs now because TBS and the Yankees deserve this...
October 18th, 2012 at 7:24 PM ^
October 18th, 2012 at 7:24 PM ^
at this point. Peralta has suddenly turned into the hitter he was last year, so far in the playoffs.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:25 PM ^
8-1...time for Papa Grande?!
October 18th, 2012 at 7:27 PM ^
Dreading seeing Jimmy throw Valverde out there in the 9th.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:29 PM ^
If he comes out, he'll be fine. I believe this.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:35 PM ^

October 18th, 2012 at 7:36 PM ^
Just saw the score to this. Wow. Was Sabathia brought back too soo, as in were his pitches not up to his normal deadly stuff, or did Detroit just come out blazing and ready to smash anything?? Nicely done though Tigers, glad have the Yankess ousted from the World Series.
October 18th, 2012 at 7:39 PM ^
pitching on normal days rest with the rainout yesterday.
