OT - ALCS game 3 open thread. JV on the mound

Submitted by Rather be on BA on

JV just got his first strike out of the night.  2 up 2 down in the 1st.

What is your bold prediction for the night?  I say the Tigers bats wake up and Hughes is out of the game before or in the 6th inning.  7-2 Tigers.

Tigers win it. Little surprised that they were this dominant, didn't expect them to go up 3-0 in this series when it first started. A sweep is very likely.

FUCK YES

Balls of steel for Coke.  I love it.  October pitching.  Win-win for me tomorrow, as I have Game 5 tix.  Either the brooms come out or I get the chance to see a pennant-clincher.

Man those Yankee hitters do not waste pitches.  Lots of good at bats from them tonight.

My boy Phil Coke seems to like the closer role...gets off on the energy.  Maybe that is his true calling, cause he blows in short relief.

Never doubted ya for a minute Coke! That's a lie, that was a bit more stressful then we all would have liked, but who fucking cares we're a win away from the World Series!

the clutch hits hits going, that game shouldn't have been a 2 run game going into the 9th.

Scherzer, Fister in the next two and Verlander set for 7, just no excuse for the Tigers to not close this out.

Look, I want to win tomorrow with the bats coming alive against Sabathia, I do. But I also remember what a long layoff did to us last time and I also think the NLCS could go 7 games. I won't be that upset if we give up a game here. Our starting pitching is just fantastic right now. I'm worried about a long layoff, I'll say it.

I can definitely see where youre coming from however it is a fine line to walk.  I'm not sure how much a layoff affects teams in baseball as opposed to more cooperative, timing based sports such as football or basketball (not to say baseball doesn't include teamwork or timing as well, just not to same degree in terms of play calls, passing the ball, everyone being in unison etc).

We should all enjoy every game that JV pitches..Pitchers like him only come every so often and it just so happens that he plays for MY TIGERS
