And I meant to add a thank-you note to the NFL: after ESPN did their damndest to ruin last year's draft by previewing the pick ahead of time, I very much appreciate the NFL telling them to knock that shit off.
Part of the fun of the draft is that it's one of the last things left in sports where we really have no idea what'll happen until the very moment it's announced. Everything else is foreshadowed days in advance so that when it finally happens, it's anticlimactic. It was REALLY pissing me off that ESPN decided to scoop every pick by showing them on the phone in the green room. Glad that isn't going on this year.
What else is foreshadowed before it happens?
Most big free-agent signings. Pujols and Peyton Manning, for example. A lot of verbal commitments. Which themselves are foreshadowing because the team can't talk about them til they're signed. Almost every hiring of a coach in any sport.
Wouldn't hurt the Broncos to take a QB here if they like either Osweiler or Foles. Manning can't have more than 3/4 years in the tank and that's if he gets back 100% from that surgery.
DT for the broncos? Wasn't the defense the only thing that made them any good last year?
Yeah but they needed some help in the middle and it's never a bad thing to get more help in the trenches on either side of the ball
You called it (Derek Wolfe out of Cincy)...I wonder why DEnver didn't pick Jerel Worthy though?? every mock draft I saw, had the Broncos taking Jerel in the 1st round.
I think the word "overrated" answers your question.
These picks are coming pretty quickly, it's been a fast draft this year.
C'mon Bills, take Martin, Glenn, or Stephen Hill! Do not, under any circumstances, take Worthy or Adams!
They didn't get the memo that big linemen are no longer useful. They aren't going to win any games with a 345 Offensive Tackle...
It's not like they're going to run the spread with Ryan Fitzpatrick...
It's broken. Read Ace's recruiting post.
Thought it sounded familiar. Sorry, if you follow me on the board at all, you'd think that I am the LAST person to not sense sarcasm.
Isnt there a post pretty identical to this one just like 6 or 7 spots down the board?
No one has posted on that thread in nearly an hour. I think it was meant to be more of a general discussion thread about the upcoming rounds and not a pick-by-pick thread, although I could be mistaken.
Jerel Worthy, what a pudd.
Mitchell Schwartz can play right tackle, right away....
Another Illinois player gets drafted. Further proof of how good of a recruiter and how terrible of a coach Ron Zook is.
If history has taught us anything, then two more Illinois players will win the right to be picked this round, and then their next seven players will lose complete control of their bodily functions.
Scouts raved about his blocking ability, lol
You think you're joking, but you're not. GT's receivers get a great chance to showcase their blocking ability or they don't play. The other thing they get to do is show off their one-on-one skills, because nobody ever double-covers a GT wide receiver.
Anyone else notice that ESPN is putting up a different position for players than is being announced? For example OG called and OT appearing on the screen or visa vera. You think the NFL and ESPN would get on the same page with this and I feel like this isn't the first year I've noticed this....
I think the position that's being announced for them is up to the team and they probably just write it up on the card.
You're right, Ive noticed a lot of guards being called tackles and OLBs being called DEs (or vice versa). I don't think they've had this many disagreements in past years.
It's also interesting that after Mike Adams was supposedly a possible target for the Lions with their first round pick, how many linemen have gone with him still on the board. Don't do weed, kids. Also don't get your universally beloved coach fired by getting free tattoos.
Basically: Don't Be a Buckeye.
Should the lions take Peter Konz if he continues to fall?
He's the #1 center, right? I say absolutely, that'd be a great pick.
Are inside linebackers the new running backs? (don't play every down, careers over fairly quickly)...
Jeffrey to the Bears might be scary if he actually plays hard. If he and Brandon Marshall can stay on the field (ie not get suspended for the off the field issues) that duo could be difficult to cover, especially with the Lions corners (or rather lack thereof).
With the Bears getting better WRs and the Packers always having strong WRs, I feel the Lions need to take a CB this round. I will be a little upset if they take anything else.
The NFC North is gearing up to be the toughest division in football.

Worthy has been a fixture on this page as the most passed over player for over a day now. He's also listed at 6'2 309 which is a lie, but isn't far from Mike Martin's listed 6'1 306.
How was Illinois so bad?
I'm sure you know the answer to that question.
I just want this to happen at this point.
