As a lifelong Wolverine fan, I have lived in Tallahassee since 1988, and it is NOT 75 dgrees year round. That would be south Florida. It doesn't get Michigan cold obviously, but it dips into the 20's several times in the winter. Occassionally in gets down to the mid-teens and has highs in the upper 30's. We don't see the snow though, thank God.
This was in response to somebody saying weather was a factor in his decision and how it's in the mid 70's year round.
I have no problem with this decision, Michigan did not have his major and he has to think about life after football. Besides, linebacker is the least of our concerns at this point so good luck to the kid. I do not believe I will be as rational if Treadwell pulls this same stunt!
"son, you didn't make a four-year mistake, you made a forty-year mistake."
Edit: sorry for double post...
Impressive.
All those 2014 Cass Tech LB's are coming...
kid seemed like a talent, and now i have nothing to do for the rest of the day. time to play with the zipper on google...
You can pretend Kate Upton is behind it.
See, you feel better already.

we have enough backers .... let's look to sign a couple of walk-on long snappers that's a real position of need. maybe we can snake oil a couple away from little brother!
But, this doesn't mean much to our recruiting year. LB was not a position of need before this decision. We can use the scholarship for a top player at another position where we DO need the depth. I appreciate our coaches working so hard to get him though. They must really be trying hard to get our class filled by the end of the summer. Can't say I blame them.
Oh well. On to the next one.
For 16 and 17 year old kids this is the clincher for FSU recruiting.
As best said by Brent Mussberger:

We've all been there. All the rest is irrelevant.
To anyone who wishes him well at FSU, and is generally not cursing someone out right now - may I please have your girlfriend's phone number? I swear I won't do anything bad or misguided. Thanks.
I'm not sure why more people don't feel like this. It seems like some people become "big fans" of every kid we recruit and will "follow their careers wherever they go." If you are a fan of every kid on the other team, doesn't that make it a bit difficult to cheer against them when we play them? I liked EJ as a recruit, but I can honestly say after this week I will never think of him again.
I think it is interesting to follow a recruit that the coaching staff of Michigan was so high on though. You don't have to root for him but I think most people would feel a little bit of pride (and sadness) if he turns into a beast.
If people want to follow certain recruits at their other school, that's fine. There are times I'm watching college football and I'll hear a player's named called and think, "I remember when he was a recruit, Michigan was after him."
The point was more about whether we need to wish a recruit good luck or not. There have been times on here where posters are overly harsh on other posters for not wishing a recruit the best. There's almost an over-the-top love for these recruits in a "Great Luck Demetrius Hart, I hope you win all of your games even unless you play us and I hope you win all the Heismans unless a Michigan guy could win it, well maybe I hope you share it" type of way.
I take the middle road. I'm not going to with EJL to do well, partly because I hate FSU and I don't want their team to do well ever and thus their players, but I'm not going to go all Buckeye on him and hope he tears 3 ACLs.
I lose interest the second he picks another school. The only thing I care about now is who is going to get a spot that was saved for him.
I haven't been following recruiting for very long but it seems like the more hype and drama there is to an announcement the less likely we are to come out on top. I actually don't care about this particular "decision" because we are solid at LB and I feel as though the coaches could get another top LB if they felt one was necessary. But it doesn't change the fact that these very public announcement haven't gone our way the past few years.
I guess it's better to have been loved and lost than to have never been loved at all.
Wasn't there another LB we stopped recruiting because we were presumably holding a spot for Levenberry?
loved that show
I see people talking about other positions of need, but we did turn away a couple other LBs that were very highly rated. What about asking O'Daniel if he wants to reconsider the commitment to Clemson? Or reopening things with Kalambayi? I know O'Daniel would probably play a different LB position, but Kalambayi is about the same size as Levenberry.
Well, the guys most likely to be WILLs are Poole, Ringer, Ross and Gedeon. In 2013, all four of them will either be sophomores of younger. That assumes Morgan, Bolden, and RJS are all MIKEs. Between those 7 guys, I think we should have those two LB spots pretty well covered for a bit.
You showed real class by announcing your decision so that our coaches could release the slot they were holding for you. Sorry you won't be Blue, but I'm sure you'll excell at FSU.
I guess this means his rating by ESPN and 247 were correct and Rivals has him way overrated.
if he will turn out to be a true stud. Rivals loved him, the other rating services not so much. Hoke and Co. obviously loved him too. In any event, if we are to lose out on a recruit we want, it may as well be at linebacker. Right now, I want some skill position players and a good DT.
Anyone think we should use this on another tight end?
I say TE or WR, unless it's a can't miss defensive guy
I honestly think McCray will be better for you guys anyway.
Seems like a lot of talent evaluators agree with you.
Based on how the SAM is used in our defense, I like McCray better. As a true LB, EJL might have the edge, and he can play other LB spots better than McCray can, but for the position they're being recruited for which is more of a LB/WDE hybrid, McCray is almost perfect. He has an inch or two on EJL and the frame to carry more bulk.
McCray reminds me a lot of a handful of those Bama OLBs, like a Courtney Upshaw maybe. A guy who's athletic enough to play linebacker, but big enough to play as a rush end.
I forgot he was announcing today. Give me Isaac, Treadwell, and Poggi. Everything else is gravy.
I'm actually ok with this. He seems like a real stand-up kid and a good player, but boy are we stacked at the position for the next couple years. I don't mind seeing the schollie go to another postion where we actually could really use the depth. Good luck EJ
