A few interesting recruiting notes (3-10-12 edition)
Since the first one was pretty successful, I thought I'd continue it. Only a few updates tonight, but one is of particular interest to Michigan fans.
-I STILL hear that Ty Isaac will be off the board soon, and all signs point to Michigan. Look, I get that Tremendous spoke with him personally and he said he's no where near a decision. The people I talk to about this stuff who have connections in the area, all say that it shouldn't be much longer at all. (Also, there was a paid site that said something similar in the last day or so, and someone mentioned it to me. I don't have a subscription to that site, I can only comment on what was passed on to me. But, if everyone will look back in previous threads, I've been saying this about Ty for over a week now, well before the paid site posted this)
-From people that know about these things, Kendal Fuller's recruitment could be more open than had previously been expected. With his family history at Va Tech being what it is, that seemed like a slam dunk. While they are still assumed to be the favorites, it's no where near the margain that it once was.
-FS Antonio Conner (one of my favorite recruits this year and if you haven't seen his tape, do yourself a favor and look it up) appears to be an Alabama lean at this point. There seems to be a heavy stance by his family to keep him in state, which always seems to be the case in Mississippi. He's a unique talent, who reminds me a great deal of the late Sean Taylor.
- QB Max Browne is racking up the offers, and the 5 star Washington product is sure to make someones class. Despite my opinions of his flaws, coaches are falling over themselves to get in line for one of his official visits.Look for him to stay on the west coast, with Stanford and USC being his primary targets.

Thanks for posting
Hope you are right with the Isaac news. I always had a feeling the Fuller to Va tech stuff was overblown. We will be in it till the end.

Your first two points give me a bit more hope than I woke up with today. Fuller would be great, but I would certainly be happy with just Isaac. Thanks for these updates, makes my saturday night a bit more interesting.

I still see him at Va Tech.

It does certainly sound like a long shot, but a small chance is still a chance, right?

If there's one position Saban doesn't recruit well, it's the QB position. He always thinks he can get the world out of a kid no one expects anything out of. Take Parker Adamson for example. The kid doesn't have that many offers, but Saban thinks the kid can come in and game manage enough to get by. I love Mitch Trubisky's tape, I think he'll land with Alabama. We may take 2 in this class, depending on their skill sets.
March 10th, 2012 at 11:39 PM ^
Sparties I know think Trubisky will go their way...despite a current lack of offer.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:27 AM ^
I'm not sure if Trubinksy has any real offers, just a bunch of "we're offering you, but really we want to see you throw a bit first, and possibly come and camp at our school, so don't commit right now" offers.
Alabama's "offers" of Trubinsky and Zaire seem a little odd, but I highly doubt either of them are going to MSU. OSU will take a QB from Ohio (Zaire/Chapman/Trubinsky). I don't think MSU has offered any of them, so it seems unlikely that MSU will get any of the left overs.
Where does Brogan Roback figure into all of this?
March 11th, 2012 at 10:23 AM ^
Haven't heard much about interest in Roback. Seems like Kyle Kempt is the #4 QB in Ohio.

McElroy followed Chase Daniel in high school at Carroll, put up bigger numbers, went undefeated, won a 5A state title, and was headed to Texas Tech (where Mike Leach certainly knew how to uncover quality college QBs). He then went on to score a 48 on the Wonderlic (tied with Ryan Fitzpatrick from Harvard for highest score ever). The world might not have expected much, but they probably should have.
Not sure about McCarron's history, but I know he had even better offers and looks to be well on his way to becoming a star, if his title game performance as a sophomore is any indication.
Even if he isn't bringing in the 5-star guys (would you rather have had John Brantley or Garrett Gilbert?), I think Saban's eye is pretty good at that position.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:56 AM ^
i am hearing Mcelroy received the answers from his fatlher who is a dallas cowboy employee
Your idea of 5 star takes you to Blaine Gabbert? Whenever you'd like to have a debate about Saban's QB history, you let me know time and place.
Who said anything about Blaine Gabbert? Here are the guys in McCarron's class:
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/rankings/rank-2113
You guys had zero shot at Barkley, and after that the only 5-star was Gilbert, not Gabbert (who has since transferred from UT to SMU).
Here's McElroy's class:
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/rankings/rank-1143
Again, ranked pretty high, and outperformed most of the guys in front of him. If you would rather have landed Mitch Mustain instead that is fine, your team would just have had better access Oxicontin and fewer wins.
I've heard that Max Browne might be leaning towards or at least strongly considering Alabama. Don't know how accurate this is but it's what I've heard. I think Bama hiring Nuessmier away from the UW (which I think is was a great hire by the way) is helping them a lot in his recruitment.

I hope you're not just trying to make me happy with your Isaac prediction.
kthnx.
March 10th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^
Love the input. I hope you're right and Tremendous is wrong. This time, anyway. With Isaac on campus and hanging out with Shane and Co, and with the class filling up (7 spots left?) it would not surprise me if he committed soon. I'm so excited about the possibility of being loaded with talent at RB again...Toussaint, Rawls, Johnson, Shallman, Isaac???
Whomever we get, we will go back to having an embarassment of riches at tailback, and not having to worry about having a good RB every year.
God bless Brandon, Hoke, and the whole freakin' program.
OT: I travel a lot, and I am seeing a lot more Michigan gear out there lately. The pride is back, and it's good to see us out in force. I always say GO BLUE when I can, and it's a good sign for the school that everyone is proudly sporting the Maize and Blue. It also helps with recruiting if these kids see more blue. I'm in Southern Florida right now, and have seen more Blue than Gator gear in the past few days. LOVE IT!

Are you ready to BKFinest that first tidbit?
That's some rocky territory and you could go from the most liked Bama fan on this board to the most hated. (You are the only Bama fan that I know of so I guess you are currently both)

You'd be hard pressed to find a college football recruiting expert who says Ty isn't leaning towards Michigan. That's hardly insider info, the piece about the time table however, you can choose to believe that or not believe it.

I like you

I do appreciate some awfully good Michigan recruiting news.
Ty Isaac aside, it's pretty amazing how quickly Hoke & Co. have changed the perception of Michigan amongst top recruits in just a year. I felt that under Richrod we were clawing for top250 kids and now we have an incredible amount of rivals100 guys seriously interested or already committed to Michigan. Times are good for the big 3 sports

You should see how them UTL jerseys are selling. It's just proof that Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry.

I'm not an insider, and if I've made myself to come off like that, I do apologize. I'm simply a guy who love to talk recruiting, who has friends that are deeply submerged into a lot of the top HS football programs in the state of Alabama. A lot of coaches have gone through their schools, and they have made a lot of connections with people over the country. They aren't right all the time, but it's usually because a kid does a complete 180.

So I had the chance to speak with the future QB at Ohio one Mr. Aaron Bailey who is a scout 4-star QB from Bolingbrook IL, and in my opinion a STUD. Lets just say RR would have been all over this kid. Anyway, Bolingbrook is 10 min north of Joliet Catholic (JCA) where Ty goes and he and Aaron are decent friends. After recieving his offer from Ohio a couple weeks ago I was asking him about Ty and he said that Ty really likes Mich alot and thought thats where he would end up, and this was right before we had 5 top O-lineman commit. Take it for what its worth, but kids do talk.
Bailey's Profile -
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=4884392&pg=2
More about Bailey and his conversation with Urban: He's loved OSU for years and grew up routing for them and oddly enough Florida. He first of all told Bailey that he needed to come in ready to play and compete because in his words "we dont redshirt at the Ohio State University." He also said he needed to be ready to play because he would be at worst the backup and he anticipated Braxton Miller leaving early for the NFL. I'm sure this is not the first time these words have been uttered to recruits from Urban but it is what it is.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:33 AM ^
Considering OSU's QB depth chart consists of:
Braxton
Guy who couldn't beat out Joe Bauserman for the #2 position this year
Freshman Cardale Jones
I don't think it's that crazy to think that someone could come in and be an instant #2.
I know hes listed as an athlete, but hes a qb in HS i think.
A chance Marshall plays QB at ohio. He does not have an arm at all, and Middletown rarely, and I mean rarely throws the football. The reason he is the QB at Middletown is because the run the triple option, which means the ball is in their best players hands every snap. He is definitely a RB/WR in college. He is plenty good enough to play defense as well, but way to electric with the ball in his hands to move to the defensive side. Kid is a hell of a player, and ohio got a good one when he committed there.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:53 AM ^
Ohio thing is so confusing some times. I didn't think OSU had a QB in this class yet (unless you count Marshall, which nobody does) so I'm wondering if this kid is going to the Bobcats, but then I see he's a 4*, and like, no.
Lol at Braxton early to NFL. Maybe early to NFL in a Terrelle Pryor kinda way.
Note to self: for amazing posbang, post positive updates on highly desired recruits.

Regarding Isaac, Allen Trieu seemes to confirm what RDT said. A couple days ago in the FB group Trieu said that with Isaac now visiting for two days instead of one and Morris beign there, he said he wouldn't be surprised if Isaac commits this weekend. Even if he doesn't, Treiu said to expect a decision shortly after his visit to USC.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:15 AM ^
Has he scheduled a USC visit? Hopefully he's had all of his shots before he visits Kiffin.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:29 AM ^
I believe it's scheduled for next week

I believe Ty Isaac is a smart running back. Smart running backs prefer top-rated offensive lines. Michigan's 2012 & 2013 offensive line recruiting classes ensure Michigan will have the best ranked offensive line by 2015. Welcome Mr. Isaac!
March 11th, 2012 at 12:43 AM ^
I would think the Huskies would be a good fit for the Washington qb with Sarkisian as the head coach plus the kid could dovetail in nicely after Keith Price. Even the Cougs for that matter with Leach getting started there plus their qb history.
March 11th, 2012 at 12:54 AM ^
we trust any of this info when the guy's blog isn't even working?
watch out for drake johnson, i think he will take hold of the tailback position ala mike hart and have ty issacs on the bench for 3 years.
Well, if you think Ty Issacs is going to be on the bench for three years, then I have no reason to believe you'd be wrong. I hope this Issacs kid goes somewhere else then. I've never even heard of him before today, so he must not be very good.
