Michigan vs. Minnesota BTT basketball Open Thread
It looked more like a tangle than a yank on the replay, but the angles weren't very good.
Burke surprisingly blocked a shot on the perimeter, so the ball bounced through the lane with at least 2 of the 4 guys standing there unaware of where the ball was. Eventually it bounced into Novak's arms as he was going down thanks to some help from his defender. They called a travel on him.
but it seemed like Novak was already pretty much off his feet by the time he caught the ball. So assuming he did catch it and did fall over on his own, wouldn't it not be a travel as long as he just laid there trying to pass the ball?
It seemed like the refs missed two things 1) Novak being pulled down and 2) Novak not actually taking any steps after catching the ball
grabbed a rebound as he was falling and they called a travel with 2 sec on the shot clock. gave the ball back to minny for the final shot. you almost never see that called a travel anymore. hell, guys dive for the ball and slide 5 feet anymore w/o a travel call.
Horseshit call, but Minnesota got zero points and we went to halftime so the impact is smll.
sounds like a coach who may not retire right away but has it in his sights.
need to wake up and do something
to be down only 3 with that bad of shooting, officating, rebounding, is a miracle
only 7 points for anyone not named Trey. Good thing Burke showed up from the start and the zone defense showed up midway thru the half
@Ghost of Yost - Novak got a defensive rebound, was knocked down and called for travelling.
With that said, we're clearly the better team on the floor. I think the first half of any tournament game is always the toughest. Now we don't blow teams out (unless it's Tennessee last year)...but I EXPECT that we come out and play a great half of basketball. We should beat this team by 15 easy.
Ugly first half. If it wasnt for Burke we would be lost. We have to pick up the intensity in the second half and blow these gophers out.
common everybody. it's only fair that the team with less talent, ability and players gets every call from the B1G refs. If they didnt then the team with more talent would ALWAYS win and what fun would that be?
It's the job of the officials to make things as even as they can so everybody get's an even chance. Talent needs to be negated and equalized if possible. Just like the umpires in my 6 year old's T-Ball games.
Cincy up 14 on Cuse. Wow.
We have NO flow on offense. Hopefully Coach Beilein remedies that. To me, that our glaring issue, besides rebounding. Better flow on offense & knock down a few shots?? We can win semi-comfortably...
Yeah, but if we lose, it's gonna be our own damn fault. Let's not put ourselves in a position to let the refs screw us (more than they already have)
The radio stream on mgoblue.com is always available...
That stream is Flash-based, and Apple refuses to support Flash, so he can't use it.
The Bastards!
We got one shot per trip. Minnesota got 3.
I like Gus Johnson, but he needs to stop calling Indianapolis "'Nap Town."
Why hello Mr. Hardaway
Well hello Mr. Hardaway
Moar Gopher turnovers, plz!
Bad sign for Minny
TIMMAY!!!
calling zack novak. your team needs you. if you are not going to do anything on offense at least do something on D. and not give up 4 layups.
9 points this half. Burke finally has help.
Two-Hearted vs. Fireside Nut Brown taste-off... and now M leads, it's a game. Life is good.
I'm sippin on some Ranger IPA from the Fat Tire guys. It's not too far off Two Hearted, and I love Two Hearted.
Trey, that's just nasty
This Trey Burke fellow is good at basketball.
