ACE: Weekend Visitors
I'm not going to be able to get a full recruiting update together today (I'll have it up tomorrow afternoon), but I wanted to give you as complete a list of weekend visitors as I could provide. Here's who will be on campus this weekend:
SATURDAY (OSU GAME)
2012: Talked to Matt Godin; he'll be there with Kyle Kalis and Tom Strobel.
2013: MI QB Shane Morris (commit), IL OT Logan Tuley-Tillman (offer, leader) [EDIT: Allen Trieu tweeted that he's going to Wisconsin's junior day. Trying to verify.], OH TE Jake Butt (offer, leader), OH DE Taco Charlton (offer, could be on commit watch), MI CB Jourdan Lewis (ditto), MI OL David Dawson (no offer, could get one this weekend), MI DT Kenton Gibbs (same as Dawson), IL OL Kyle Bosch (offer), IL OL Ethan Pocic (offer).
SUNDAY
AL DT Rod Crayton (expecting an offer when he visits—Scout lists him as having an offer, but I confirmed with him that the coaches are waiting until he gets on campus)
MONDAY
OH DT Donovan Munger (no offer yet, but recruitment is picking up—could get one on his visit) [EDIT: Also OH ATH Ross Douglas and OH WR De'Niro Laster, according to Tremendous.]

Some commits and a W against Ohio would be one hell of a weekend.

We need Crisler Center to be rocking...and a storm the court type situation couldn't hurt. Recruits love that kind of stuff.
Go Blue. BEAT OHIO!
February 17th, 2012 at 5:15 PM ^
I don't think we should storm the court if we win. We are undefeated at home - we should expext to win.
February 17th, 2012 at 5:47 PM ^
We're in the hunt to win the conference. This isn't a storm the court kind of game. This is an "at least act like you expected to win" kind of game.
February 17th, 2012 at 6:34 PM ^
a graph using team rankings, rivalry scale of 1-16 and final score of game and found that we should actually rush the court if the game is within 3 (+/- 1.2 error)....

a mid 2008 joiner with only 8 points. You should sell your account to some hipster wanting the 'in before it was cool' label. It's one of the earlier accounts I've seen.

Michigan hasn't been a legitimate top ten team for something like fifteen years now. If they beat the number six team in the country, and it happens to be a bitter rival, and it means a lot in the conference race, not to mention a higher NCAA tournament seeding, storming the court would be highly appropriate.
I know it's cool to "pretend you've been there before," but it would actually be pretending for this entire generation of fans who were somewhere between four and six years old the last time Michigan was nationally relevant in basketball. .
February 17th, 2012 at 10:03 PM ^
This is a HUGE game. If we win on a bucket in the final minute, I can only hope that we do storm the court.
February 17th, 2012 at 9:59 PM ^
its still osu and they would feel like shit if we stormed the court. at the least, i wanna see a "come at me bro" moment between sullinger and burke.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:36 PM ^
Agreed, this could be an epic weekend for both the cagers and the gridiron!
February 17th, 2012 at 4:37 PM ^
Wow, thats alot of talent coming at the same time. Lets hope the IL boys get a plan together about sportin the maize and blue

Man, what a great weekend for recruits. Hopefully Shane can work his magic and get a couple commits out of the weekend. It also sounds like DT recruiting is going well with some of the talent we have coming in.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:38 PM ^
Tremendous was reporting De'niro Laster and Ross Douglas will be visiting on Monday with Munger. FWIW.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
Whoops, forgot to include that. Thanks.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:51 PM ^
De nada.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:40 PM ^
He's also scheduled to be at Wisconsin for their Junior Day this weekend.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:43 PM ^
Just saw that tweet. Trying to get in touch with him and see what's up.
February 17th, 2012 at 4:53 PM ^
A pair of commitments this weekend wouldn't be so bad. (Charlton & Lewis) We seem to be in on some great DTs, I haven't seen any film on Kenton Gibbs so it may be ignorant of me to comment on his play, but I think it would be important to use a DT spot for him to preserve the pipeline even if we have a great chance on a better DT.

am i the only one that thinks Logan Tuley-Tillman is milking the recruiting game for all its worth? I bet he is at every home game next year
February 17th, 2012 at 5:05 PM ^
Sam said he is going to every home game. He said many ticket holders and commits dont make every single home game.
February 17th, 2012 at 5:28 PM ^
I wouldn't consider it milking it if it's all to one school. If he committed, he's still get to go to all of those games if he wanted. I wouldn't be surprised if Shane makes it to every home game.
However, if he comes to every M home game, that means he won't be going to many games for other teams, which bodes very well for us.
I know this is going to sound like a stupid analogy, but when I was a freshman at Michigan, I rushed. There was one fraternity I spent a ton of time at, even though I was rushing a handful of houses. When it came time to pick which house I wanted to join, I had made so many friends and gotten so familiar with the one house, that it made it a no-brainer, even though most of the normal criteria were pretty equal. If LTT ends up spending that much time at UM with the coaches, players, and other recruits/commits, I'd expect a similar thing to happen.
February 17th, 2012 at 6:01 PM ^
I'm not sure what you mean, but I doubt I agree. If he was miliking this for some advantage above and beyond attention, he could do that at Illinois without spending the time, energy and money by going to Illinois games.
February 17th, 2012 at 10:07 PM ^
he is coming up here on his own (or parents) dime basically every weekend and seems to be pretty stern on his decision date. there's always kids that use their officials to see parts of the country that they would otherwise not be able to afford to visit. it's not a bad thing. especially if you actually want to explore all of your options which LTT seems to want to do. if i was in his position your damn strait i would take each official. strait to usc, florida, miami, south carolina, and um. if that means that i would be milking my recruiting so be it. he's just having fun and making sure he's choosing the best option that will dictate the rest of his life. no big deal or nothing.

To Tremendous top 2014 linebacker, and teammate of Standifer and Treadwell at Crete-Monee, Nyles Morgan will also be in town. This is turning into a huge weekend. This is why having a good basketball team helps, as these kids will get to see a great environment at Crisler.
February 17th, 2012 at 5:35 PM ^
Is it too late to get Ty Isaac & Laquon Treadwell on campus to get the whole Illinois gang up here?
February 17th, 2012 at 6:22 PM ^
Thank you for this....what are the chances that we could land 4 of the 5 big Illinois recruits (talking about Issac, Treadwell, LTT, Pocic and Bosch)? Also, would love to see commits from both Taco and Lewis this weekend as they are two of my favorite guys in this class
February 17th, 2012 at 6:49 PM ^
That group from IL is really good, not to mention McGovern and Goebel who we've offered. getting any 3 or 4 of the kids we've offered from Illinois would be great.
February 18th, 2012 at 6:16 AM ^
We haven't offered Goebel. Are you thinking of Colin McGovern?
February 17th, 2012 at 10:08 PM ^
if the 2013 illinois class is just top-heavy or really deep? its starting to sound like we need some pipelines into the state.
February 17th, 2012 at 7:17 PM ^
representation up there this weekend. Hope we get some good news from some of these visitors...and an upset win over osu.
