Champs Sports Bowl: Florida State vs. Notre Dame
Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium, Orlando, FL
ESPN 5:30pm
Watch this video to get appropriately pumped up for the game:
Yahoo's Matt Hinton (Dr. Saturday) described the video best: "There are a thousand previews of tonight's showdown between unranked Notre Dame and barely ranked Florida State, and all of them combined fail to match the insight in this 43-second acid trip from the geniuses at Catlab, who have boiled down the matchup according to its most essential elements: Burt Reynolds, demented leprechauns, coeds shotgunning beer, Regis Philbin pumping iron, Rudy sprinting through the bowels of Notre Dame Stadium and — most importantly — noted Orlando native/FSU alum Scott Stapp squaring off against Touchdown Jesus."

I made sure that I was going to be in my hotel room just so I can get to see them lose. There's nothing better to cheer you up than seeing Brian Kelly's face turn purple.
December 29th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
The lighting makes the ND helmets look like they go from gold to Kelly face purple.
December 29th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
Brian Kelly's coaching tonight? Ok then...
December 29th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
....I did not beat Zone Left to the punch here and I can therefore maintain my status among the MGoSerfs without losing eleventy-billion points. LOL.
Actually, I went ND in this one, as much as I hated to do this. I selected that only because of the intangible "ND wouldn't dare let Kelly's head turn purple again" factor.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
I don't think FSU has the minerals to play with ND. If ND starts derping (and I think they are more than capable of derping) its a different ball game.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:04 PM ^
I'm actually quite interested to see what happens with ND and their QB situation. WOTS is that Hendrix may start/see significant playing time. Would be funny to see Kelly on his third starting QB in one season by choice and not injury.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:24 PM ^
I had a hard time with this one; whereas it is always enjoyable to see ND lose, if they win it boosts not only our strength of schedule this year but also elevates ND's likely position in the polls next year when we play them. Additionally, an Irish win will help fuel some hilarious posts from our favorite ND blogger and have their fanbase in general reveling in the 'return to glory', all for our better enjoyment next September.
So . . . go Irish?

Joe Tessitore trolling early with a "return to glory" comment
December 29th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
Took Florida State.
With that said which will there be more of: (1) Florida State personal fouls or (2) Rod Gilmore references to Boise State?
December 29th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
i have a hard time rooting for notre dame, but them winning would shut up the kids i went to hs with who are fsu fans, who think their team and school are gods gift to man. also, ive never had a bad experience with nd fans unlike msu and ohio, so i still respect nd.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
ND has their names on the back

Floyd returning punts, what a novel idea. Their season return average just quadrupled I think.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
From 3 to 12 yards?
December 29th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
Exactly what I mean. But I think it was more along the lines of .3 to 1.2 yards.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
I would appreciate it. Assumed I would find it at ESPN3 or justintv, but no go.
Okay! It IS on ESPN3!
December 29th, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
Someone remind me how FSU started the season so highly ranked? I kind of forgot that the OK/FSU match-up was considered to have title game implications until the commentators reminded me.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
FSU's starting qb got knocked out for the season in that game, and FSU never lived up to expectations after that.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
Not true at all, E.J. Manuel only missed the Clemson game. I don't know what the real answer is, but my theory is that they simply don't respond well to close games.
December 29th, 2011 at 6:26 PM ^
Thanks for the correction. I should have checked before responding based on a faulty memory.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
The FSU band is getting old already.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
Celebrating after tackling the running back who just got a first down on third and two. Florida State definied.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:40 PM ^
Love ND's new helmets.
Why the hell do their tech fit jerseys look so much better than ours?
December 29th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Every Adidas sponsored team has better looking equiptment than our stuff. I just wish they would take the UTL jerseys (which were not tech fit) and make our regular jerseys using that model.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
because they don't

The Turnover Gods smile once again on Notre Dame! FSU Ball!
December 29th, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
Tommy Rees turning the ball over in the end zone. Notre Dame defined.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Gotta love it.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Thats the Notre Dame that I'm used to seeing
December 29th, 2011 at 5:44 PM ^
didn't go well, because this team's got No!!! down to a fine art.
December 29th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
Great. Just great.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
Herpa derpa that!
December 29th, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
Derp fest begins!
Although, that was a really good play for Te'o to get his hand on the ball. Also a lesson in why you should carry the ball in your outside arm.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
I have to root for ND, with that said a return fumble for a TD!
December 29th, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
Purdue vs W. Michigan Dedux?
December 29th, 2011 at 5:51 PM ^
Doing the Denard "we're hungry" gesture....douche bags!
December 29th, 2011 at 5:51 PM ^
I don't want to start another thread, and this seems like a pretty hoppin thread. I just got done reading Three And Out (I know late to the party,) but does anyone know where Denard took his visits? In the book he said, he took a trip to a high profile SEC team and when he checked into the hotel there were two women waiting for him.
I know this goes on alot but I wanted to know where he took his visits so I can narrow it down to a few schools.
December 29th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
One of them.
