Manny and Warren were rumored to have poor relationships with the coaching staffs (both signed up for other coaches). D-Mo became friends with John Wall who told him he was much better than he actually was. Different situations.

to have a bad relationship w/ the coaches. Dude was poison in the lockerroom as far as I could tell. Not to knock the guy, I loved watching him play and he did some great things for M, but just watching his demeanor with B and his teammates you could tell he thought he was better than everyone else (rightly so, dude was good). I also seem to recall an incident of him elbowing Stu in practice one time. Also the benching against Purdue (?).

Anyway, point is we don't have to worry about any of that with DRob. I'm not concerned.

But he still has to improve quite a bit if he wants to make it in the NFL. If not improve, he at least has to prove quite a bit. I think he already knows though so I'm thinking he's seeing what the NFL wants him to improve on.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Since he's not going to play QB in the NFL anyway, there's nothing he's going to do over the next year to make himself better for the NFL, other than maybe put on 5lbs.

If he stays, it's much more about Michigan than it is about him raising his NFL stock, I think.

If the NFL confirms what most think and tells Denard he's going to be a wide receiver/specialist at the next level, I'll bet you dollars to donuts that you'll see Borges adapt the offense to showcase D-Rob at multiple positions next year - like IU did with Randle El back in the day. By coming back there is very much he could do to improve his draft stock in that scenario.

Randle El started his senior season at wide receiver, which was going to be his main position. They did this because they had a pro-style quarterback they liked and it was also a favor to Randle El to prepare him for the NFL.

I think that lasted about two games before they realized that sucked and moved Randle El back to quarterback full time.

Say what you will about his skill set, but he is our best qb without a doubt, and from what I saw, it's by a significant margin.

I'm all about helping a kid get to the league, but not at the expense of the team... And I think Denard would agree.

Put him behind centre and hunt. If he lines up anywhere else, it won't be often. 3-4 times in a game occasionally to keep defenses honest.

He can go to the combine and light up the stop watches and help his draft stock that way.

I'm not saying he won't be Michigan's starting quarterback next year, I'm pretty sure he will be. But my guess is that we'll see more of hte 2QB sets with Denard actually playing a WR position rather than a split-wide running back/decoy. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to maybe see him on returns either - how amazing could that be (and yet scary at the same time).

it's not like he becomes a QB phenom in one season...he's not 'really' going to improve his stock as a qb one way or another...however if he is off the charts in measurables, he may find himself in a role like Cribbs or Kordel/Randel El...could be a big deal if he hears the dollars...personally think he has more moral character and will remain at Michigan to improve his skills, but kids do crazy things sometimes.

I'm high on what the kid can do, and regularly spread the word on what an outstanding PERSON he is above all..but really? Heisman? cart, horse, story of order...would LOVE to see it happen and fingers/toes crossed for it...but the sky in my world is still a soft blue...arguably at this point I can't think of a host of other guys returning who could be a major threat...but if he's staying with the notion that he will win the heisman and increase his stock as an NFL quarterback...I have some swampland I'd like to pitch a sale over...

there is also another 'issue' that can occur during an additional season...which isn't the heisman, and doesn't increase his value...just going to say Tripp Welborne...I dare not say anything more....=0

he's going to make the NFL the question is where. as a quarterback I totally agree with you, but he's such a freak athlete he'll make the league. my guess is he's getting the nfl evaluation now to see just how far off he is from being nfl qb material. that way he will have realistic expectations next year when he gets drafted.

Good god guys, knowing what we know about DRob there is 0% chance he goes pro. He loves this university, loves his coaches, but most importantly he loves his teammates. They were the reason he didn't bail when RR left (he said something about them having gone through so much together, and that he couldn't leave them), there is no chance in hell he leaves now.

We all know he wants to be a QB at the next level, I have every reason to believe that he is just doing this to impress scouts/so they can tell him what he needs to work on.

I don't understand the 'good god guys' or the panic buttons. I havent see one post where anyone has panicked. I think everyone here understands that DRob isn't ready for the NFL if he plans to play QB. Besides, if he does decide to go pro, I wish him well and get ready to watch Gardner run the offense. It hapens to every team and there is nothing we can do about it.

Scouts should be able to give him specific things to work on. Probably good for him to hear what he needs to do in order to maximize his stock. I don't think he's ready to be an NFL QB.

he'll be evaluated as a QB? Pat White was drafted in the middle of the second round as an athlete despite not being as explosive as Denard is. I think (and devoutly hope) Denard comes back, but I wouldn't be shocked if some team were willing to grab him as an athlete at the end of the first or top of the second.

and Manny Harris...and Donovan Warren. They were all players who most felt that they weren't good enough to go pro, yet they did anyways after their evaluation. I'd like to say there's no way Denard gets enough positive feedback and that he'll leave early, however, my heart's been broken like this 3 too many times...

I'm not worried about him leaving, but my question is- say he gets an eval that says "you are a slot receiver and if we see you in that position next year (at least some plays) it will really help your evaluation/draft stock." Is he used more in a receiving role next year (rather than just end arounds)?

I think no, but it is interesting to ponder whether he might ask for more (as in some) receiving plays to help his stock.

Personally, I see him as more of a RB in the NFL than a receiver, and I think there has been, and will continue to be, plenty of tape on him carrying the rock. He's fast and has great field vision. He's not as big as a typical NFL running back, but he's as big as Chris Johnson, and that has worked out pretty well.
