Michigan vs. Michigan State/Early Games Open Thread
As always, I direct you to the LIVEBLOG on the front page, but for those who can't log into it, can't keep up, or just like the open format, here you go. Plus it saves maybe half of the halftime threads.
And if you're like me, you kinda switch back and forth between the two depending on which Michigan seems to be playing best while you're in it.

despite the play calling and inept passing, Michigan has a real chance to win this game, but they are running out of opportunities. Let's go get that TD!
October 15th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
I think that missed 4th down will be the game. If we had snuck it with Dernard, we get the 1st, then I think we score with the momentum going with us.
Fuck now that is the game.

never going to win a big ten championship with Denard....unclutch
October 15th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
He is an option QB. That is what he is. Since I do not see UM switching to the option, i foresee more games like this until he leaves.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
TV insisting there is a flag, and take the TD back
Stupid taunting
October 15th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
Fucking fuck
October 15th, 2011 at 4:08 PM ^
Borges Nevermind, let the pressure get there again to force a bad throw, on the 50th straight blitz called by MSU.
That should have been a penatly. Clearly a taunt under the new rule.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
All game long Borges insisted on making Denard throw from the pocket. All. Game. Long.
Guess what AL? That's the one thing Denard isn't good at. Where where the options? Rollouts? Screens? The diamond form?
Borges got outcoached.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
But Denard's lack of skill as a passer is the main culprit.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
pass when have guys in your face every play, because of the blitz. And that INT was actually on the wr, he ran a bad route.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Michigan wasn't going to be perfect, and remained in the game until that 4th down gaffe. If they just QB sneak it there or something it might be 21-21. Damn that play call
October 15th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
October 15th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
would think screen would be an obvious call when the defense is blitzing every play.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Borges has royally f'ed this O.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
I think it is much more than Borgas.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
all you want, but this has been a piss poor game for him. MSU is being predictable on defense, blitzing on every play, but Borges has refused to call plays that take advantage of them being overagressive.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
Exactly. Hes ran nothing to combat the blitzes.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
4th and inches and you have the most dynamic running threat in cfb and you call play action. This game is probally tied if we just run the ball.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:17 PM ^
classless. Taunting, late hits, punches. Fuck you MSU.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
TD michigan but flag
October 15th, 2011 at 3:22 PM ^
That I pay extra money each month for the ESPN package and my game has been blacked out since the 4th quarter started.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:23 PM ^
bottom line is we're the classy program and little brother has exposed their thug image on national television. We have great recruits coming in and we play clean.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:26 PM ^
Michigan is still a soft program.I think Hoke will change that, but this team is still has a ways to go before they reacquire the toughness they had under Bo.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
flat out unprepared for MSU's blitzes, which I just don't understand. We did nothing to counter the blitzing all day. We played so poorly that we let MSU have 15 penalties, play like dirty bastards and never made them pay.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:25 PM ^
Their D is fantastic. But this is one of the worst displays of sportsmanship I've seen, the late hitting and cheap shots. Reminded of the U 20 years ago.
Take the 4 wins chumps.

Is this the type if message board meltdown that people here crush OSU & Sparty fans for? Angry, irrational, name-calling rants are a universal trait among a small percentage of Every fanbase.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:27 PM ^
anyone else really pissed that they just hurt our QB on a cheap shot
October 15th, 2011 at 3:29 PM ^
I'm one hundred times more pissed that our coaches had their heads in their own asses for the entire game.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
October 15th, 2011 at 3:29 PM ^
depressing. Losing 4 straight years to this team, that was something I never thought I would see. And to add injury to insult, Denard got hurt on late hit by those dirty bastards.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:41 PM ^
motivation for next year
October 15th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
devin made 2 of the dumbest plays if not THE dumbest plays in the game. he throws after going 3yds over the line when he had lots of room in front of him. then he runs on 4th and 22?!
October 15th, 2011 at 4:34 PM ^
It's hard to blame Devin on either of those plays 100%. Let's cut him some slack, he hasn't played much in a Gameday situation. I mean on the LOS pass he probably thought his dropback and sack dodge had taken him deeper, plus he was looking pass the whole way so he wasn't looking for the sidelines.
And on the 4th and 22nd? Yeah that was stupid of him, but the alternative was to dance around the 50 all day waiting to get sacked. They had most of our receivers shut down so I doubt we would have converted

Hoke - you needed to step in and adjust Borges
Borges - you called a horrible game. Never put Denard in a optimal position. They are blitzing the play action side and up the middle all day long. Adjust Al...Adjust. - Nope you didn' we lost. That was the worst call in the fourth and 1. stupid stupid stupid.
Denard - you were challenged to throw and you failed. You threw a pick six to lose the game. You needed to sneak on that 4th and one. you need to think through your plays and be smart, not just explosive. Think Denard. Think!
Woolfolk - you cost us some big plays dude. I hope you dad gives you a sit down and reminds you how to play. You were slow and didnt contain...often
Running backs - where were you? Vince / Fitz. Hopkins as always is more of a risk than reward
Dline- you were pathetic - Martin, Van Bergen - where were you (Roh you have some good tackles)
Oline- you needed to protect Denard and open up lanes. Pick up the blitzes.
Receivers - their corners arent that good. Junior? Koger? Need to get open more guys.
Mattison - Where was you 2nd half magic?
We had plenty of opportunities as WE lost the game, MSU didnt win it. Way to go seniors, i just hope you have the balls to beat Ohio.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
Like last year, MSU exploited M weaknesses that have been there all year.
we were able to overcome these with teams that are not defensive powerhouses. State's defense is still way overrated, but they are light years ahead of teams like NW. Every team the rest of the year wil stack the box and dare us to pass down field. It's not just scheme and offensive plan that didn't work, though. If we can't effectively pass, we will not be successful against decent defensive teams.
