So we can infer Hagerups career is over?
September 17th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
...no
September 17th, 2011 at 11:10 PM ^
its not another scholarship punter being brought in, just a guy to provide some competition/injury/suspension help. Nice to see since scout is reporting an OSU offer (Oregon State).
September 17th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
He can earn the scholarship if he's good enough, when it's vacated.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
No, no, no. Hagerup still has plenty of time to straighten out and have successful career. This seems more of a back-up plan to me considering our current punter hasn't made the greatest of decisions so far.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
or Hagerup will be a Junior next year and Wyle (recruited as a kicker) hasn't looked that great as a punter. I"m guesing that the preferred walk on means he won't get the scholarship until Hagerup graduates.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
I'd infer that Hagerup, not being Tacopants, has limited eligibility, and that therefore we may need another punter at some point.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
OMG HAGERUP GOT KICKED OFF THE TEAM!!!???!!!???!!!???

This my friend is how rumors start...

But he probably only has 1 strike left
September 17th, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
That won't be an issue with Kenny. Kenny is a great guy and character is not an issue. He has a great work ethic and is always working to improve his game (during the season and offseason). He can kick, punt, and kickoff and has a huge leg in all three of those aspects. He's a great get for this class and fans will definitely be pleased by him down the road.

..knock over the bong!

Also had an offer from Oregon State, was hearing from Miami (YTM), Alabama, and LSU.

This kid has a solid offer list. Really good get for Michigan, especially as a walk-on.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
Hopefully he will fill in better than Wile during Hagerup's next suspension.
Just kidding. Wile's actually done as much as you can ask him. Considering he probably didn't spend a ton of his offseason practicing punting.

I said he was hearing from them. But had a legit scholarship offer from Oregon State. Could have had preferred walk-on offers from LSU and Bama but those typically aren't reported.

Oregon State offer and Bama Miami LSU interest.
From Scout:
"Kenny is a great combo prospect (K/P). A good athlete that shows great potential in all areas. Has the skills to be one of the very best. A hard worker, that will only continue to improve. Kenny is big, tall, strong, and athletic. A great combo prospect. Punts for great distance and shows nice consistency. Definite D1A prospect."
edit: what DGDestroys says beaten to punch

Good get... had interest from some big schools.
(Alabama, LSU, Miami (YTM) )

Good for you, Kenny. Carve out a spot for yourself!
Go Blue!

Will MSU's in-state recruiting dominance stop?!?!
September 17th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
that meme is so old. Everyone knows MSU recruits nationally now.
September 18th, 2011 at 12:00 AM ^
I just have a hard time coming to grips with their international dominance.
September 18th, 2011 at 1:10 AM ^
They're only getting all the Earth recruits because Michigan recruits Galactically.
September 17th, 2011 at 11:21 PM ^
He seems like a very good prospect. I'm thrilled that he wants to be Blue badly enough to walk-on. We could certainly use him.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I regret to inform you that President Kennedy has been shot

As a Fenton alumnus, I'm glad to finally see a UM varsity sport offer come through. I think it's been 8 years since the last one (swimming)
September 18th, 2011 at 1:28 AM ^
wow some of you are weiners
September 18th, 2011 at 6:23 AM ^
I heard aboutt his kid a few weeks ago from a relative who is the game announcer at another school who played Fenton. This guys son is also in Media Relations at MSU. He said there were scouts from all over at the game and that the is a top notch kicking and punting prospect and a michigan lean. Not adding much just saying that this is a pretty solid get.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
Sounds like a quality recruit. I look forward to seeing him play in the Big House.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:23 AM ^
...but I got to wonder if this spells doom for Hagerup .

ESPN: 74, 2*, #33 kicker (http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/evaluation…)
Rivals: 2*, #13 kicker (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Kenny-Allen-106…)
Not ranked by either Scout or 247.
ESPN reports that his strength is punting and says he's "very good."
Sounds like a solid pickup, especially for a walk-on.
