Hope we can at least get one...Go Sox!
September 4th, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
Austin Jackson is on fire and Miguel Cabrera is simply awesome.
They should start working on the Cabrera statue right now. Best Tiger hitter I've ever seen by a long shot.
September 4th, 2011 at 8:36 PM ^
You don't remember Bobby Higginson do you?
HALOL
September 4th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
Now that is funny. Higgy owes Juan Gonzalez a big portion of his big contract.
Odd to see the 2nd base umpire wearing a jacket. Football weather is a comin'
September 4th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
Lets go Tigers!
September 4th, 2011 at 8:52 PM ^
Mad Max is looking goodt today................so far. SWEEP BITCHES.
It's gonna be sweet to have the division rapped up by the middle of the month
September 4th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
3-0, good guys.
Damnit, where did I put that broom...
EDIT: Make that 4-0. White Sox looking a little derpy today.

VMart is the man

Really good insights from Bobby Valentine. I like listening to grizzled baseball types like Valentine and Leyland, they really know their stuff.
Sox are reelin' after last nights pants crappin'
September 4th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
I enjoyed hearing about why the Sox shouldn't have covered both bases on the hard shot past Morel. Interesting stuff, makes perfect sense, and probably not something that I would have thought of otherwise.
September 4th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
Those grizzled baseball types you speak of are a dying breed as they get phased out for the MIT types.
That's not a bad thing in my book.
September 4th, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
Like who?
September 4th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
Looks good today. Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde
September 4th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Sox know they're done. Laying down.
September 4th, 2011 at 9:43 PM ^
Don't get her Miggy! Cabrera came up limping a bit after sliding, first into Pyrzinski's (sp) foot, then crossing the plate.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:51 PM ^
Miggy is okay.
September 4th, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
I don't know why I just noticed this, but Miggy looks ginormous right now. But hey, as long as he does what he does.
Make it 9-0. I'd love that Comerica crowd to get into this one and send off the Sox's season with some "Hey, hey, hey goodbye."
Time to start looking at the post-season. With Boesch done for the year, the Tigers really need Guillen to get back and be able to swing the bat. Lineup needs some more balance. Also, it would be nice to see Sherzer have a good start against some lefties with the possibility of the Yankees lineup in the playoffs looming.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
to over 300 lbs when he played for the Marlins but you can't argue with the result since he keeps hitting .300/30/100 every year.
September 4th, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
The 'GERS offense exploded tonight in an orgy of runs
September 4th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
Go Tigers!!!
September 4th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
September 4th, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
I guess the Tigers just didn't want to bury the Sox, they wanted to drop a nuclear bomb on them before doing so. That is now 24 unanswered runs in this series.
Still a major bummer that Boesch is done for the season, that is a big blow.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
but it is not a big blow. The Tigers lineup is still damn strong without him.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
The Tigers have nobody else who can hit second against right handed pitchers. Magglio can hit second against lefties, but who exactly do they have when they face right handers? I don't see how you could argue that it isn't a sigficant blow given that fact and when you consider Boesch's offensive production this season.
The Tigers do have a lot of other guys who can swing the bat, but none of them can fill that spot in the lineup.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Hopefully Dirks gets some run and maybe he can get on a hot streak in late September.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Keep in mind what Boesch did last year at this time--nothing. WHo is to say that he would not do the same thing this year?
As I said, it is a blow, but it is not lethal blow. At least not when it comes to winning the division. Now, if you are talking about going to the WS, then I might see it that way.
But the Tigers are not likely to go to the WS. Not with the inconsistency among the starting pitching outside of Verlander.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
Keep in mind what Boesch did last year at this time--nothingThat's not at all fair. Last year Boesch had trailed off much earlier than now. This season after a bit of a bump he was actually pushing his average back up to over .300 before he got injured. There was little reason to expect him to really tank in September once he weathered that mid-season slump.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
WHo is to say that he would not have slumped at a later date? We have no data to prove that he will hit as strong in September as in June.
Anyways, the Tigers biggest issue--even before Boesch's injury--was the inconsistency of the starting pitching outside of Verlander. If the Tigers blow this lead it will happen because of pitching, not because of hitting.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
starting tommorow. If the Tigers could find a way to win that series, they could possible bury the Indians as well.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
I cannot remember the last time the Tigers did this to a team.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
Go Tigers!
September 4th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Way to pound chisox out of any hopes for winning the division. It's time to get Cleveland next!
September 4th, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
Total Annihilation
September 4th, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
It looks like the White Sox have given up.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
tigers are collectively batting .550 (22 for 40) right now. That's just nuts.
September 4th, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
"she said sure! Go Tigers!"
September 4th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
The Rangers won today. After tonight they'll be 1.5 ahead of the Tigers. Frankly, at this point I'm focusing more on catching Texas than holding off Cleveland.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
but they are honestly pretty funny. I've lol'd several times. Clever, sarcastic stuff, not the usual moronic, "clowning around" stuff announcers do.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
The best thing about this was that I had a long day at work and came home, grilled a delicious NY strip and enjoyed some good grub and a beat down.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:15 PM ^
I turned it off after the announcing crew couldn't decide if it's uh-VEE-la or AH-vuh-luh, even after they pointed out how Alex pronounces it differently from his father and grandfather.
September 4th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
probably
September 4th, 2011 at 11:42 PM ^
I know Im being greedy but I wanted the shutout. Damn it Below! Hopefully he learned something from that 9th inning. I want to see Alburquerque back in, he was killing it before the concussion. Tigers looking good, hopefully they can keep it up going into October.
Playoff rotation:
I have to go...
Verlander
Fister
Scherzer
September 5th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
with half as many today!
