Team Captain predictions
I got to thinkin about this for a little while during my run this afternoon: Who will be named the captains?
Coach Hoke said that the players will vote--whether that gives more or less variability to who we think would be the captains, who knows? But, to me, I doubt that there will be any surprises, here.
Lock: Mike Martin
No surprise: Denard (unless Hoke wants only seniors), Molk, Woolfolk,
Slight surprise: Kovacs, Koger, RVB
I can't see anyone outside of those 7 get the C. I'll predict Martin, Denard and Molk. It will be nice to have more than 1 captain who actually starts, unlike last year.
*I know that last year they had 2, but I generally remember M having 3. I'm curious as to which has been more of the norm?

My prediction: Denard, Kovaks, Martin.
Iirc, we usually go with 3 captians. Hoke did say the players will vote, so I doubt it will be only seniors.

RVB, Woolfolk and Molk.

I second this

This wouldn't surprise me, given they took him to Media days with Martin and Denard (which sent a signal to the team how the coaches think of him), plus the way Coach Hoke gushed about him the other day at the news conference. He's being positioned as one of those guys, it seems.

I doubt Denard gets it. Based on the pressers it seems like Hoke wants the leaders on the team to be seniors even though the players are voting. I see Martin and Molk as locks, and the other one up for grabs.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
I was just thinkin that about Denard. Martin is really the only guy I feel absolutely 100% about.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
It certainly is possible though. However Hoke has been talking about the importance of the O and D lines for a while and of course Martin will get it, and Molk is definitely a leader of the offensive line, so I would put money on those two.

Denard, Martin and Woolfolk
August 16th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
Martin, Molk, Koger. Lock it.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:23 PM ^
I like my captains to be seniors. Btw Bill Haverchuck is the man, best display picture ever.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Martin, Woolfolk, and Molk.
August 17th, 2011 at 1:11 AM ^
I agree but maybe put Kovacs instead of Woolfolk

as long as its not a punter or a benchwarmer i will b content
August 17th, 2011 at 8:23 AM ^
I have no problem if there was a senior player who has spent most of his career on the bench get the captain. If this guy represents the hard work and dedication that it takes to be on the team. If the other players recognize this guy for his hard work even though he isn't a starter, he can still lead by example, in the weight room, in practice, in film break down, in a study hall. If the players voted for a person like this I would love it.

Rawls & Hayes... if Fred gets to choose
August 16th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
ha ha...so true. i heard he already gave rawls the #1 jersey
August 16th, 2011 at 11:44 PM ^
He'll be like the best captains Michigan has ever had, except better.

Molk, Martin, RVB.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
I think based on the BTN Media Days it is going to be Koger, Martin, and Robinson. Though IMO I think it should be Martin, Molk, and Van Bergen. We will see what the players vote soon.
August 16th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
Koger and Martin are the two I think will get it for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see a special teamer get it as the third pick. The runner ups would probably be Denard, Molk, T-Wolf, and RVB
August 16th, 2011 at 11:59 PM ^
These are locks, Hoke has been gushing about what a great person and teammate Koger is and with him being a senior this is a no brainer. The other two are obvious!

It's what happens if Molk stays still for to long, he transforms.
August 17th, 2011 at 12:06 AM ^
Molk, Martin, Koger

I don't see how there is any way Molk and Martin aren't 2 of the 3 (?). RVB and Kovacs would be my other options. Denard is obviously a star and leader, but I think it should be seniors
August 17th, 2011 at 12:55 AM ^
Molk/ RVB on offensive line
Martin on defensive line
Kovacs on defensive backs
That sums it up - I can see Molk being replaced by RVB but otherwise this is what it should be. All big effort guys.
August 17th, 2011 at 4:34 AM ^
Dude played on the defensive line last time I checked. Are you assuming no offensive captains this year?
August 17th, 2011 at 12:58 AM ^
I'm 99.8% sure they will be the captians. Koger and Martin are two of the more popular players when it comes to the players, and I'm sure Molk fits in there not far off. Denard will be a captian without the official title.
August 17th, 2011 at 1:46 AM ^
Defense: Wolf and Martin
Offense: Molk
August 17th, 2011 at 1:59 AM ^
Kevin Koger, Mike Martin, David Molk
August 17th, 2011 at 3:56 AM ^
Molk, and Martin.
August 17th, 2011 at 3:59 AM ^
Wouldn't be surprised with any of Denard, Molk, Martin, Troy or Kovacs.
August 17th, 2011 at 4:51 AM ^
I was thinking about this too, while brushing my teeth. I have to agree with Hulk and Denard. Hoke seems to love Kev Koger as well.
August 17th, 2011 at 5:15 AM ^
for regular dental hygiene. Always brush your teeth, kids. Your breath is better and it lowers your risk for heart disease. Seriously.
August 17th, 2011 at 6:50 AM ^
M & M. Martin and Molk.
(And now, I can take the candy shtick no further.)
August 17th, 2011 at 7:26 AM ^
Martin, Molk, RVB
If not...Martin, DRob, RVB

August 17th, 2011 at 7:57 AM ^
The coaches have mentioned Koger's leadership on several occasions. I see a lot of Kovacs predictions here, but remember the heavy emphasis on seniors leading the team. Kovacs is one of my favorite guys on this team, but I think they'll pick seniors.
With soooo many stupid threads out there, I'm surprised this one didn't get more upvotes.

I don't see how you leave off Denard. He is a LEADER and the QB. He is the face of UM Football and IIRC one of those responsible for making the off season workouts so successful.

After Denard, probably Martin & then either Molk or Woolfolk.

I would actually like to see a 4th captain that rotates per game.
