Scout Team Rankings Up
Michigan comes in at #2 after Texas. Texas A & M, Florida and Florida State Round out the top 5. ND comes in at 12, MSU 17, Ohio 18, and Penn State at 20.
Texas A&M has got quite the class for 2012. Surprising to me, at least.
has to do with Texas' down year and TCU getting ready to move to the Big East. Those that want to stay in Texas but aren't good enough for UT will defect to A&M or Tech. Been down here long enough to see that happen a few times.
Because both Texas and TCU are having banner years recruiting-wise. I think aTm is doing a really good job of keeping kids w/o UT offers in state, where in the past those kids may have gone to one of the Oklahoma schools, or maybe Tech.
Hoke and staff are doing a fantastic job. I want to hug Brady Hoke.
You will need some big long arms - dude is quite huge in person.
I thought the opposite. Looks bigger on TV to me.
They're always pretty slow in recruiting because they have to go out of state.
I think they are going for a pretty small class this year, around 15 or so, so they might be taking their time
I can't see enough good news on the recruiting front. Does anyone know when they will start re-ranking players? Is it after the HS season starts? I can't wait to see if some of our guys move up.
...little factoid?
On Scout's Preseason Midwest Top 101, Michigan has 14 commitments of the top 50 prospects. No other school has more than 4. In addition, Michigan is in good shape with Brionte Dunn, Jordan Diamond, Danny O'Brien, Amara Darboh, and Marty Madaris (H/T Hail 2 Victors).
A factoid is not in fact a little fact or a bit of trivia.
From Wikipedia:
A factoid is a questionable or spurious—unverified, incorrect, or fabricated—statement presented as a fact, but with no veracity
No, I did not add the veracity part myself. The belief that a factoid is a bit of trivia is in fact a factoid.
Fact.
It's going in your OER...No promotion for you.

It's 7:30am here in Denver and I've already learned something today. I've been using that incorrectly for years. Thanks!

We prefer the term "voracity" on this site!
Ondre, Brionte, Stefon, Armani, Andrus, Jordan, Danny, Ron, Greg, Amara....
You all have the power to turn that 2 into a 1. Hail.
Am I the only one who initially thought, "Man, the obsession is REALLY getting out of hand when they start ranking the scout teams!"

I think it'd be really interesting to see a ranking of the best non-starters in the country. Obviously they'd almost exclusively be on stocked teams, but we rank everything anyway, so why not? Side note, I think Tate could have taken "best second string QB" last year in a landslide.
A question for those of you who follow this more closely - would you say this is the best defensive class in Michigan history?

Then yes, but that's primarily due to the overall size of this class defensively. I think that the 2003 defensive class would be the best prior to this year. That class had Woodley, Burgess, Englemon, Crable, Hall, and Mundy.
ONLY 1 GD MONTH!!!
Just like Rivals - ranked very high due to 21 commits; however, even if ranked in average stars per recruit we are tied for #8.
That's Rivals #8 and Scout #8.
Considering we can be very selective with the last 3-5 recruits we will have a top 10 class, more likely a top 5 class when it's all done
Low rated recruits though?
Especially once we tie up all the other highly-rated recruits, right?
All joking aside, I think this class is almost guaranteed to be in the top 5 nationally, and far and away the best class in the B1G/Midwest. Here's hoping everyone who has already committed sticks around for the greatness that is Michigan Football!
