Hello: Blake Bars
TomVH EDIT: This was a weird night. I sent a text to Blake Bars about 3 hours ago and asked if he had committed yet, he said not yet. I then got an email saying that he did commit about 30 minutes ago.
I then got a call from Blake saying that he has committed and he did it with all his family around. He said he decided to do it tonight because he asked his family why he hasn't committed to Michigan, so he just made up his mind and did it. They're all excited and he'll be bringing his mom up either next week or the week after that.
Here are some of the quotes I posted on Twitter:
Ten minutes ago I committed to Michigan. My family is cheering here, and we're pumped. I was just sitting here and I asked my family why did I not commit to them yet. So I called up Coach Smith and told him. I then called up Coach Hoke and told him. It's been a really exciting night."
can't wait and that's where I go to school right now, pretty bad MTSU has been to more consecutive bowls than Michigan but that is about to change!!! The pride, tradition, and honor is back in AA!
I have been jonesing for another commit!
Welcome to Michigan Blake!
in this thread before Tim puts up the Hello post.
Also, welcome Blake! congrats on making a great choice.
Is this kind of a surprise to anyone but me? I was under the impression it was at least a few days out.
Congrats, Blake. One of the best decisions you'll ever make.
Ill take over 100 since its late at night and he may have not been expecting this!
Come on Tim, after Tom's buckle up post you should be using better safety habits on the road.
Give Tim a break. You can't rush snarkiness.
Kyle, your turn....
awesome get. so now we take 1-2 more OL? hopefully kalis and diamond?
I was starting to get edgy with it being a few days between commitments.
This calls for more Molson's XD
crazy.
Rivals: #34 OT, 4*, Scout: #38 OT, 3*, ESPN: 79, 3*, #56 OT, 247: 86, 3*, NR
Offers include: Clemson, Florida, LSU, PSU, S. Car
Both Rivals and Scout have him at 6'5", 275 lbs.
Quite a list.
With an offer list that includes LSU/ Clemson/ Florida/ Penn State, I would say he is a legit 4 star.
Surprised he has a NR on 247Sports - sounds like poor research
FWIW, Scout has the top 36 OTs getting 4 or 5 stars. He's an extremely high 3 star to them.
At what point do you take a guy regardless of position? I mean how good does said player have to be?
Bars is a guy most of the SEC was after...that speaks volumes.
Finally a , HELLO. Great news. Great choice Blake, welcome to the michigan family.
Wow. Wasn't expecting this but am very pleasantly surprised. Good decision bars!
Agreed. I had thought that he was waiting till Friday and that Vandy and PSU were higher on his list
Ann Arbor can certainly use as many Bars as are willing to come!
Congratulations and welcome Blake...
We are all PUMPED and CHEERING.
Welcome and congratulations on a great choice.
Go Blue
We are all PUMPED and CHEERING.
Welcome and congratulations on a great choice.
Go Blue
This pretty much made a pretty boring night. Thanks Blake and Welcome to the Michigan Family.
Was Mr. Bars the one that TomVH was hinting toward announcing earlier in the weekend? Or was it __________?
I see whats going on here.
This is part of our gradual recruiting infiltration of the south. We'll be pulling kids from the rest of the SEC's backyard in no time.
Glad to have you!
In other news, I saw where ND took a safety today. That has got to help our chances with Wilson!
Oh behave....
Is this what the buckling was all about? Or should we stay strapped in?
Not to be THAT GUY but during the "buckle up" saga on Friday I said Bars would commit first. BOOM!
Yes, I am...haha
You know, that dance isn't as safe as everyone said it was.
The cookies must be fantastic in Ann Arbor!!!
Welcome home.
What's taking Tim so long with the Hello post? I bet he's making sure there's enough sunshine and rainbows for everybody on here.
As other posters have mentioned, maybe this was a surprise and he didn't have one completely ready.
Thats my vote. I'm sure there were other Hello posts that were higher on the list than that one. And I do not mean that in any way as a knock on Blake.
Welcomes you with open arms, Blake! It's good heaving you on board and look forward to seeing you out on the field wearing the winged helmet and the maize in blue, in front of 113,000 strong!!
6 OL now? Kalis and Diamond adding to the list of a stellar O-line class i hope
Great addition to this class. I really wanted him but as other people have mentioned I thought Vandy and PSU might edge us out for his talents. Don't get caught up in the stars or any of that this kid is an elite talent and had a great offer sheet to reflect it. More than excited to add him to this awesome class.
Formerly from Trenton, MI. Dad, Joe, played football at ND. Brother, Brad, plays for PSU. Blake is coming home hopefully to stay for 4 or more years. Obviously the coaches pushed the right buttons to get him to AA.
