WR Jason Croom not coming to Michigan
Michigan offered WR Jason Croom (Georgia) last week and his mom made it for a visit with the coaches this weekend since she was in the area for wedding (see interview with Tom above). Despite being from the South, he had ties to Detroit which showed some promise if his recruitment stretched out.
But it looks like Jason has other plans...
And by "right now" you mean "anytime in the next 8 months," right?
I'm starting to get just a tad bit nervous about this WR situation. I really thought Croom and Gilmore would be good options if Burbridge couldn't qualify and Stanford decided not to come. I think taking a Ron Thompson commitment would be pretty smart.
It might be a tad premature to get nervous about it now. We have offers out to more receivers than Burbridge or Stanford. I'm not sure if we have a great shot with them, but here are some names to keep an eye on:
Jody Fuller, Amarah Darboh, Leontee Caroroo.
There is also Jordan Payton who is considered a soft commit to USC right now and in the past he has said that he wants to visit Michigan.
Why do I suddenly have a taste for Chicago-style pizza hearing that name.
Is that name something like, Unseld Theisman? Manning Ewing? Nowitsky Staubach?
Did darboh visit?
I don't think so. I haven't heard from him much other than the fact that he has an offer. I think that if we miss out on the other guys (Burbridge/Stanford) he might be one to keep an eye on.
How is he looking for ND? How many WR are you guys going to take this year.? I know you guys already have two WR committed.
......to a 1991 Lumina I owned a long time ago.
A late offer, so it was a bit of a hail mary at best. I would like to see this class include one legitamate outside threat possibly two if we miss on Dunn and Garmon. We can't run the power off tackle on every play....
Birds of a shit feather flock together Randy.
listen: it's the winds of shit...
A late offer who already seemed to be deep into his process. I never thought we had a legit shot. Good luck to him in the SEC though.
I said he was staying South on GBW on the weekend everyone lost their shit. Kinda funny.
his scholarship.
that Michigan offered Croom late, as well as another wideout from Tennessee (Bowles), because they feel their chances with Burbridge and Stanford have dipped a bit?
Perhaps, but Bowles was offered awhile ago.
Good thing is that's only June, we might have to focus in some other WRs during their seniors seasons and go from there, there's also Ron Thompson, who I guess we could pursue as a possesion reciever, either him or Funchess, we'll have to wait and see
I am requesting that you change your name to the Grim Reaper.
How in the hell can we be needing WRs with the way the last coach over recruited them? Rich, Rich, Rich.....
Because many of Rich Rod's widouts are not that talented. Not all of them, but many were not IMO. Also, I would think, maybe am wrong on this one, that they do not fit the type of WR Hoke wants. Out of all the wideouts Rich Rod recruited, only Miller and Jackson were over 6 foott and near 200 lbs. Gallon, Robinson, Roundtree, etc would probably have never been offered a scholarship to Michigan undeer Carr or Hoke.
We do still have Je'Ron Stokes and Jerald Robinson, they both have a pretty good chance to fit nicely in to the new offense.
He also only had 2.5 recruiting classes. You could argue 2.75 if you want but the point is for all the slot ninja talk he still brought in 4 bigger WR's. Also many won't complain about Odom's production when healthy.
Well, because we have 2 recruits from the 2010 class (Jeremy Jackson and Jerald Robinson now that DJ Williams is gone) and 0 from the 2011 class, you can count Drew Dilleo and Ricardo Miller, but one is a slot, and i don't think could play wideout, and the other one seems to be ticketed for Tight End, so if UM doesn't take at least 1 WR in this class we'll have 2 upperclassman wideouts by 2013 with some freshmen we could sign next year
His mom made it seem like they had concrete plans to come up to Michigan and MSU to visit unofficially in the next couple months so if that happens maybe his position on playing in the SEC might change. That being said, sounds like there is ALOT of ground to catch up on, but this is Michigan and there is opportunity with no WRs in the last class. I really like Croom's highlight film, really explosive for a tall guy and the blocking at the end of the highlight film was GREAT. GO GLUE!!!
EDIT:Scout says Croom is down to two, Tennessee and Miss St. Cancel my previous misplaced enthusiasm. Good luck to him though. GO BLUE!!!
You are the worst poster on this site. Please stay over at Scout from now on, champ.
Damn. As a Michigan and Miami fan, this really hurts me. I was hoping he'd go to Miami, if he didn"t choose Michigan.
Well, of course Croom eliminated Michigan from his choice becuase he's a Wide Receiver
That would be a dynamic receiving duo in Maize and Blue
