"UConn couldn't hold off the battling Bulldogs on this Monday Night in Houston. For all of the CBS Basketball Crew, this is Jim Nantz signing off, getting ready to go suck Coach K's KOK!!!"
Kris, count me as part of your group sir. I have had countless discussions, arguments, debates, or what have you, with my woman (soon to be ex) on this very same topic. Lets just say that she does not "enjoy" sports. Haha well... Back to the point. These "discussions" have not been as based upon the fact of me not watching other college football games after a Michigan loss, but rather more along the lines of when Michigan loses, my attitude changes, and that I am just obsessed with sports in general. As a diehard sports fan, certainly a loss is going to dampen your spirits for the rest of the day/night. As one of my old college professors used to say "But hey, it's just part of it!" That is just a part of being a fan that truly cares about your team. You are not just some fairweather fan, but rather a fan with PASSION! Of course, the food tastes a little better at dinner, the beer just a little colder, etc after a Michigan Victory! Another debate, discussion, that maybe some of you in MGoBlog land have encountered with a gf, wife, mistress, etc is that they act like during the early years of your relationship, that you were never as diehard about sports as you are today. I just have to laugh when she says tells me such things, for I vividly remember the excitement, jubilation, and disappointment that came about in the 2004 and 2005 Michigan Football Campaigns (the first two yrs we were together). Either way Kris, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being diehard about the Maize and Blue. I am proudly in your corner, as I am sure the rest of the MGoCommunity is with you on this one. GO BLUE!!!
Thanks guys for the posts!! Love Coach Hoke's attitude, and the fact that the players are truly buying into the staff. So excited about MATTISON ON D!!! Man, its only April and I am so pumped for this season. Loved it when Big Lewan was talking about how Coach Hoke has been saying that we are going to win the Big Ten Championship like 1,000 times...Great stuff, and Go Blue!
What a year this one was...I hope to be watching this next April on a cool Monday evening after Johnny B takes us through the Big Dance unblemished!! GO BLUE!!! SMOTZ!!!!!!!
Pam Ward is death to the ears, and needs to be secretly given Castor Oil before announcing Northwestern vs Iowa on Espn 3 on so she makes a big Dookie in her panz on air n getz FIRED!!!
My hope is to be watching this video next April on a Monday night...Maybe not this "exact" video, although this one is special because of the significance of the year
If I am watching One Shining Moment next year in April, then John Beliein will be saying to his team...YOU JUST WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!! GO BLUE!!
Thank god I was at the game live and didn't have to listen to Nantz and Kellogg during the game!!! Watched the game on DVR last nite, and listening to those douchers made my ears bleed...Billy Packer was very irritating and extremely anti-Michigan as well, especially in the Fab Five days. At least he is off the air, and not paired up with "Nantcy" any longer
Went up to Charlotte with another Michigan fan for the game and had a blast. My voice was gone in the first half. Was very proud of these kids, and it is hard to lose this one. Came home and watched it on dvr...couldn't stand listening to Nantz and Kellogg, what a bunch of assholes!!! They trashed the Fab 5, the Michigan Program, and were acting incredibly amazed that we were "still hanging around" versus mighty Duke. Anyway, next season looks to be very promising. Can't wait to see Brundidge and Burke...GO BLUE!!!!!!!
Planning on making the trip from Myrtle Beach up to Charlotte to watch Michigan play Duke if it works out that way...Certainly hope it does, would be TREMENDOUS to be there to see Michigan stun Duke in their home state! Go Blue!!
Lamarr, Larry Foote, and Ryan Mundy will be representing the Maize and Blue for the Black and Gold...Love Charles Woodson, but not on his side this week. Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go!!
Beilein's offense is not working, bottom line. I like all of our players, but we just have no inside presence and you cannot solely rely on shooting 3 pointers all game. Morgan has looked good at times, but he is all that we have down low. Our offense does not seem to run any kind of plays, they just pass the ball around the circle and fire it up. No setting of screens to get Vogrich or anyone else open, hard to watch. I wish that Steve Fisher was never let go, loved him as our coach. Would love to see him back, but I know that will never happen. It would be TREMENDOUS!! Go Blue!
Why dosen't Bill Cowher come on dahn Michigan and instill some hard edge Stillers Defense n' at...I would love that much more than John Harbaugh...Pittsburgh toughness yinz!!! Go Blue!!
Damn it Brandon, just come out and tell your coach if he will be asked back or not!!! I am beginning to get very agitated with all of this. Rich is a good coach, and I strongly believe that he will be successful at Michigan. He should be our coach in 2011 with a new defensive staff...Period, end of statement. Let the man coach and recruit for god sakes.
One great thing about Michigan BB is the announcer at Crisler, and how he says ZAAAAACK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOVAK THREE POINTER!!!!!!!! Keep shootin the rock big Z!!!
For the Gator Bowl, I would LOVE to see Brian and Bob Griese up in the press box calling the game for ESPN2...That would be super-fantastic!!
However the best all-time duo was Bob Griese and Keith Jackson on ABC!! I remember Keith Jackson's pre game description of Michigan at Penn State in 1997..In the words of Keith Jackson..."Today's game has many implications. You have the Big Ten Championship on the line, the National Championship, and the Heisman Trophy. Now, if that doesn't whet your appetite, your watching the wrong channel!!!"
John Beilein knows his X's and O's when it comes to hoops. Yes, he will most certainly be a winning coach at Michigan...in my opinion, he already has and will only continue to improve with recruits like Brundidge and Burke.
I am from PA, have lived in SC for the last 10.5 yrs, but my friends who are PSU fans in both places are actually cool, and they never talk trash on the Big Blue. Must be a different batch of Pennsylvanians your dealing with...probably Ohio transplants...just remind them of our dominance from 1997-2007, with 2003 and 2004 not included since they were off of our schedule those years. Not sure if it was because of the teams rotating on and off the schedules, or if PSU just pussed out since their program was down during those years. Hey, at least we manned up and played them in 2008 when our program was down...Actually driving up to PA tomorrow for Thanksgiving, so what do you need me to bring with me??? Maybe some live wolverines???
Coner was 'tremendous," but what about June Da Goon!!! Love it!, June representin all the way from Conway, South Cack (10 min from where I live)! Would love to see my boy Royyyyyyyyy up in there showin off his skillzzzzz!!!!!!
I clearly remember watching the 96' game...would have been 14 at the time. It was a huge victory after such a tough season losing at N'western, home vs PSU, and at Purdue...Damn though we had one hell of a kicker, Mr. Hamilton back then, and a very solid D, but I like your parallel between 1996 and 2010. We have the imbalance just on the other side of the ball...I would love another 13-9 victory!!!!!
That was a tremendous Rod Payne quote posted by M-Wolverine about the dune buggy full of popsicles, and Lloyd Carr during practice...great stuff lad, great stuff...M GO BLUE!
P.S: Maybe Fitz can be our Ed Davis, and Hopkins our Che Foster (same number) this week against OSU going back to the 93' game
Before the season began, I looked at the schedule and felt 8-4, or even 9-3, would be attainable. Really felt strongly that we would beat Sparty at home this year. Watched the first qtr of that game again on dvr the other night, and wow did we blow some great chances to score early.... If we end up 7-5, and win the bowl game, I would not be upset. This week's game is obviously going to be extremely challenging, but I truly feel that our players will rise to that challenge. I mean, we are DUE to beat those fools who reside in the World's Largest Toilet Bowl!! GO BLUE!!
P.S: I would like to hear Temptation played AT LEAST 4-5 times per half when OSU sends out their shitty punter, throw in 2-3 times for IRON MAN after a Roh/Martin, or anyone on the D sacking Pryor, and THE MICHIGAN VICTORS played at least 7-8 times after Meeechigan TD's!!!
What's wrong with all you HARD EDGE HATERS out there?? It could be said 5 million times, and it would still be incredible!! I have been all in for HARD EDGE WEEK since I first read the post last Saturday night...It has energized not only my outlook on the game this Saturday, but my entire week...GO BLUE!!!
Can you imagine our speeeeeed blazing the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium next December?? Wow, that thought makes me very happy!!! Gonna be 38 degrees for HARD EDGE this Saturday...The crazy BTN weatherman just told me so...GO BLUE!!
2006 was such a special year...Michigan really crept up on everyone after not being picked to really contend for a championship that season even though we had a ton of talent. The Notre Dame game was incredible, really all of the games were incredible, I can remember every game, especially my 1st ever game in the Big House vs Northwestern. There were 40+ mph winds, the temp was in the low 30s, and the rain was pouring down...A great 17-3 victory nonetheless, and an experience that I will never forget!! Losing to OSU was incredibily frustrating. I drank excessively after the game and passed out...then the dagger was twisted even more a couple weeks later by picking Florida over us...oh well, we have a LOT to look forward to with this group of kids!! GO BLUE...HARD EDGE THIS WEEK!!
Right on jhack...A very good question you pose...Does America know about HARD EDGE WEEK?? I don't think that they do, but we all do!! GO BLUE...HARD EDGE!!!!!
Man, I read this post just before going to bed last night, and it was like drinking 10 Red Bulls in one sitting!!! POWWWWWW it hit me like a ton of bricks!!, Thank you Bodogblog for this great mantra ,not only for Michigan this weekend, but also for my week this week!! I am ALL IN FOR HARD EDGE WEEK, and will use it to the fullest this week! I was so inspired that I have been telling my friends to bring a HARD EDGE THIS WEEK!!! Most have no damn clue what I am talking about, but who cares!! I am pumped, can't wait for Big Blue to take the field at 12PM on Sat vs the wide-eyed Wisconsin's as I call them!!! (It's a story for another time) GO BLUE!!!!!
