I think Michigan will be ranked around 14-16.

At this point, believe it or not, there's no reason why Wisky should be ranked ahead of Michigan. Wisky has played only two quality teams and lost to both.

If anybody in the B1G pack can beat somebody decent on the road (ie not Purdue, NW, Minnesota or Indiana) I think they immediately move to the front of this pack. Well, after Iowa's loss, maybe a road win in Minnesota deserves some love too

They lost two games. We've lost 1. Same can be said for Wisconsin.

While I don't think we're better than them, it's difficult to put either of them ahead of us. I'll put us at 14 for now.

mackbru made a good point above as well. But MSU beat us by two TDs, and has a loss away to a top ten team (in my poll). Yes they've been dominated in both their losses - but they beat us comfortably. Even with more losses, I think they'll fairly get the nod over us this week.

Actually, the more important plays that went MSU's way came earlier in the game. Devin missing Hopkins for an easy TD would have given UM a 14-7 lead at halftime. The HORRIBLE call by the official on the backwards pass which should have been a recovered fumble/muff for UM deep in MSU territory cost UM at least 7 points because MSU later scored on that drive and UM might have scored 3-7 points themselves as they would have gotten the ball, at worst, at the MSU 30-yard line. UM would have had a 17-7 or 21-7 lead in the middle of the 3rd quarter but for those two plays, neither of which had anything to do with MSU.

MSU was extremely fortunate in that ballgame. Every single break went their way.

I stopped reading once I saw Houston at 9.  Their offense is good (wouldn't be great against a good team) and their defense is horrible.

Also, South Carolina needs to be lower.  Not that great to begin with and certainly not as good considering their starting QB and RB are gone.  Virginia Tech is overrated like always.  Terrible QB, great running back, and a slighty-below-good defense.  We'd beat them by double digits.

As customary for my VT bashing, I must state that I am a VT student.

Just saying, haha

But yea I kind of agree with you - I don't like having Houston up that high, but frankly Arkansas doesn't deserve to be #7 either. At somepoint, you have to fill out the rankings, and I thought Clemson didn't look like a top ten team in Atlanta. FWIW, Nebraska's loss to Wiscy is still in my mind, even as I rank them at #10. SC and VT may be overrated, but they both are one loss outfits - VT lost badly, SC lost a squeaker to a schizophrenic Auburn.

Houston does not deserve to be ranked. Their defense is garbage. They allowed  34 to La Tech, UCLA and Rice as well as 42 to UTEP. If they play any top 10 team, they'd lose 50-20 or something like that

My top 5 would be 1) LSU 2) Alabama 3) Okie State 4) Stanford 5) Oklahoma

I would have Michigan about 15 and Boise about 10th. I dont know how anyone could have Auburn in their top 25.

you gave them.

1. LSU, 2. Bama, 3. OKst, 4. Stanford, 5. Boise St, 6. Oregon, 7. Oklahoma, 8. Arkansas, 9. Nebraska, 10. Clemson, 11. Houston, 12. VT, 13. South Carolina, 14. UM, 15. PSU, 16. KSU, 17. MSU, 18. Wisconsin, 19. Georgia, 20. ASU, 21. GT, 22. WVU, 23. Auburn, 24. Cincy, 25. ??

I think he's done after this year.  They said he wouldn't come out of the press box at half time b/c of the cold.  THis should be his last run.  college football would love to see his defensive team get into the top 10.  He'll probably lose soon, the question will be to who.  Their offense is abysmal (sp).

AMazinBlue

originally thought.  Yeah no one in the conference could hang with Bama and LSU, but who can with both of them recruiting on a different level?

Either the B1G is pretty tough an it's getting harder to win out or no one is that great.  Nebraska looked tough today and Wisconsin is proving they are victims of their schedule.  OSU is making a comeback, unfortunately, and PSU has a good D.  Is PSU finds a way to score they could make the championship game, although I doubt it.

If we can get Kovacs, Barnum and Lewan healthy and somehow eliminate the dumb ints, I think we can win out.  We'll have to see where that gets us.  We need MSU to get whacked again though, obviously.

To those of you who think Sparty should be ahead of us, head to head rarely trumps the most important macroscopic factor involving ranking, i.e. number of losses, and sometimes, not even that. There is no reason to be surprised if Michigan is ahead of Sparty when the rankings come out.

One particularly egregious example is in 2000, when FSU and Miami had identical one loss records, and Miami beat FSU, but FSU went to the NCG nevertheless...

As for the OP's rankings; Wisconsin was ranked 15 this week and lost to an unranked Ohio team. How could you possibly not have them drop. Also, Arkansas at #7? They almost lost to Vandy (got real lucky in the late 4th quarter too). Also Houston is a typical flash-in-the-pan. Also, although Okie St. has been good, I would not deign to put them on the level of Bama and LSU.

Other than those couple things those rankings are pretty accurate.

I'm too lazy to put enough thought into deciding the Top 25, so I'll settle for questioning one of yours: Arkansas at #7?!? They have squeaked by Mississippi and Vanderbilt (Vandy bascially handed them that game) the last two weeks and the only "good" team they have beaten was a horribly overrated Texas A&M squad.
