Week 11: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on November 13th, 2016 at 1:47 AM

I love this sport.  18-22 year-olds go to class all week then suit up to pound other 18-22 year-olds for 3.5 hours with all the emotion being a young man can muster.  We all love this sport.  It's why we're on this blog.  And even when it doesn't go the way we want, it's still the best sport of all.

I'm expecting this will be a tough week to find 'best things', but if we weren't M fans, we'd laud the heart of the Hawkeyes.  That aside, and for my eyes, the kicker from Pitt was the best thing I saw.  Missing an XP and kicking a FG into the back of his own line is not an appropriate pre-cursor to a game winning kick against #2 Clemson, at Clemson.  However, with 6 seconds to play at Clemson, Chris Blewitt, who played high school football for the West Potomac WOLVERINES is the best thing I saw today.

Come on in off the ledge and share.  What you got?

My son's baseball team won their last game of the season, 7-6, on a walk-off wild pitch. I was hoping my son would get the GWRBI, but he got plunked for the 2nd time in the game. Next kid struck out leaving it up to one of our average hitters. 2 outs, 2 strikes, we're staring at a tie game to end the season. How crappy would that have been.

I didn't see anything good football wise today, except Kenny Allen's field goal.

but besides a few other teams going down, I literally saw little to nothing from our game that can be taken as a positive or likeable. Maybe Kenny Allen nailing a 51 yarder like a boss? But I'm open to suggestions by all means...

The Washington state cougars and mike leach are the most fun team to watch. What leach did at TTU and now at Wazzu is second to none in my opinion. If they don't stumble out of the gates this season they could be in the cfp discussion. Unbelievable job by coach Leach.

Recorded the game because I was out with the wife at a fundraiser - plan was to watch it starting at about midnight... pretty sure the best thing I saw was not seeing the game

To be honest, the older I get, and as much as watching that game sucked, you have to appreciate it when the other side makes a play to win the game. I don't cheer for young kids to miss in that situation anymore - well, not much, anyhow.

I also saw the reason I love to watch football - what a game of emotion and dedication. In any other week, this game wouldn't be very close. But when one team (unfortunately, not ours) puts their minds and hearts to it, anything can happen. It is the very definition of what makes sports interesting.

The worst thing I saw, in contrast, were commercials. They are making watching a game unbearable.

The best thing I saw?  Clemson losing.  They've had that loss in them all year, and finally took it.  It might get worse - they lost at home, with no defense - yet still may be ranked higher than M.  Which makes no sense, given that both teams lost to the same thing.  But M's loss was on the road in a defensive struggle.  That should count for more than losing a shootout at home.

Worst thing - M looking past Iowa.  I thought that was clear early on, with all of the fancy play calling.  The coaches overlooked Iowa, and the team followed suit.

Well, putting our game aside for the moment, I think the most interesting thing that I saw in the Big Ten was that, yes, Rutgers is just that bad, and at least a few Spartan fans on Twitter had the good sense to quiet down the others who were calling it a dominating win, pointing out that there might be some mid-majors that could dominate Rutgers in a similar fashion. The honesty that other part of their fanbase showed was refreshing.

Here's to hoping that the best thing we see next week is a win over Indiana - we still sit in the driver's seat right now. Win next week and walk into Columbus still in the driver's seat and that's something we haven't been able to say for a long time.

every pass play to the point he looked like he rushed his passes.  Agree Issac's TD run was sweet as well, especially how happy he was after that play.  Pitt winning at Clemson was up there as well, and showed Dabo's  four leaf clover has limited shelf life.

After I turned off the TV in disgust. I've never been more embarrassed watching a Michigan game or team. We looked horrible and unprepared. Sorry but Speight can't play under pressure, he folds up like a tent and misses all his deep throws.

Back to the best thing. Was the look on her face when she said "it's ok Daddy always next week and you wanna play a game w me" kinda put things in perspective. I just smiled and said sure sweetie.

The best thing I saw was that if we beat Indiana and OSU, we go to the B1G Championship game. If Penn State beats Rutgers and MSU and we lose to OSU, then Penn State goes to the B1G Championship game. For some reason seeing that OSU has very little shot of making the Championship game was the best thing I saw.

the smile on my daughter's face in the silly selfie we took in Kinnick stadium before the game together.  Because even though we lost the game, this was a family experience for us, and it's a memory that will last us a lifetime.
