Watching The Game again on BTN open thread

Submitted by Chunks the Hobo on

This is probably a lame excuse to start a thread (OK, "definitely" not "probably"), but I'm still having that postgame warm and fuzzy feeling and hoping to keep it going by re-watching The Game on BTN right now, preferably virtually with other MGoBlog brethren with the same warm fuzzies.

Who's with me?!?!

EDIT: Is the guide lying again? Unfortunately I'm getting Mike Hall talking about basketball instead. Sigh BTN. Neg away, errbody.

EDIT2: As noted, it's on now, at least in Ann Arbor.

Double posts always suck.

So.  To make this one suck just a little bit less, here are the full lyrics to the Victors.

Now for a cheer they are here, triumphant!
Here they come with banners flying,
In stalwart step they're nighing,
With shouts of vict'ry crying,
We hurrah, hurrah, we greet you now, Hail!
Far we their praises sing
For the glory and fame they've bro't us
Loud let the bells them ring
For here they come with banners flying
Far we their praises tell
For the glory and fame they've bro't us
Loud let the bells them ring
For here they come with banners flying
Here they come, Hurrah!

(chorus)

Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
The leaders and best!
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
The champions of the West!

(break strain)

We cheer them again
We cheer and cheer again
For Michigan, we cheer for Michigan
We cheer with might and main
We cheer, cheer, cheer
With might and main we cheer!

I think it's hilarious a thread was created for this. Love it. I am recording it and will keep it for a rainy day.

I went to the store today with my husband and 8 year old son today. As usual, we were wearing our Michigan shirts. Lots of dirty looks then the grocery bagger starts giving us crap. We tried to take the high road but I finally couldn't take it. I told him that, "look, the next time Ohio wins, you will still be bagging groceries". He agreed. When we were leaving, my son asked what that was about. I told him, "honey, that's what you call a loser."

I was at the game so I didn't  get a chance to hear the commentary.  I already can't stand Speilman.  How is allowed that an alumn can call his own game?  Or am I just being overly sensitive?

He's objecitonal with a play on the field for the msot part. However, I found him highly critical of UM players and overly enthusiastic about Ohio people dressed in shoulder pads.

For example, his comment about how if you think Denard is electric wait until you see Miller in an Urban Meyer spread offense.

My favorite is on the bullshit goal line call that took away the td.  One of the announcers (I can't remember if it was Spielman or not but probably) says "Well it's hard to tell but this is the better look at it" when they show the view that puts the ball short of the goal line.  I flipped out at my screen when they said that.  Why is that the better look?  It's identical to the other view except it puts the ball short.  Assholes.

I don't know; I honestly don't mind it. I think guys like spielman and herbstreit are about as objective as you could possibly expect. Especially this game; I'd be pretty pissed if a Michigan alum didn't show a little homerism. And you've gotta admit, it's still a hell of a lot better than watching a ND game on NBC. Holy nuts, the steady stream of bullshit...

Someone with the means and ability needs to do us all a favor and introduce the world to "lone-wolf-kovacs-tomahawk-chop guy". He shows up after the penalty call for the safety, 7:41 to go in the first. Total stud.

I hope Mattison watches the film from this game before next year's Game.  Every time we went to the Okie zone-blitz front with Morgan on the nose and six or seven on the line, Ohio checked to a QB draw.  Every time.  I think toward the end of the game they adjusted by having Martin and Van Bergen squeeze down toward the center rather than rush the passer, and they stopped Miller once on the last drive doing that.

So...did the head ref, Bill Lemonier (sp?) spit up blood during the Fitz td overturn?  There was something red that came out of his mouth as he was talking...
