Ticket Prices Are Still Dropping On The Secondary Market

Submitted by MaizeBlueA2 on January 5th, 2024 at 7:26 PM

FYI, for those still holding out.

I'm seeing tickets below $800 before fees...below $1,000 all-in.

I hope to see you in Houston!!

Gametime had tickets in like 615, ROW K for $722 when I created the thread. Which is below $1,000 "all-in."

That's about what I was waiting for, but I got an incredible "hook up" earlier today so I'm no longer looking.

I'll be interested to see if it continues to drop or if this is about as low as it goes. I'll keep an eye out and follow-up if I see them go below $650 before fees.

They have five.  I think I've met them all.

I lived in Seattle for 8 years, and as I tried to explain when people were looking to add UW and Oregon to the Big Ten, it's just not a sports town.  There was a reason that the Pac-12 couldn't get a media deal done: It Just Means Less.™

UM will have a decided advantage in crowd support in Houston, which would not have been the case if Texas had won.

Having gone to most of the UW games in Seattle this year, they do in fact have fans.  As many?  god no, but they exist.  Not sure how well they travel though.  Many were excited to go to California when they projected to be in the Rose Bowl.  Not sure how many want to make a second trip in a week to be outside of PST.

I pulled the trigger late this afternoon.  Sitting section 311 (yes Washington side) which is club level about 35 yard line.

Spent $2,300 per ticket all in.

Edit; just saw the post above mine.  Not only are virtually all the tickets in section 311 on the secondary market, the same seat on the M side is around $3,800.

We went with two in section 338. They ran us $3600 per ticket, including the $900 in fees per seat. The same seats on the Washington side are $1,000 less. After days of monitoring and hoping for substantial drops, my dad and I bit the bullet. It’s amazing the discrepancy in price per sideline.

also, seperately- this is my first time creating an account in roughly a decade of reading. I have become a more informed, and dedicated fan because of the community here, Go Blue!

I have to pay a cancer radiation bill (getting cancer in November...0 out of 10 stars, can't recommend...finished my copay max with surgery in November, and started radiation on January 2nd...new deductible, new max out of pocket. Yay me) so I'm waiting for the cheapest tickets possible. Have plane ticket, have hotel reservations, have parking spot at stadium. Adjusted my radiation schedule. Just need tickets under $1k out the door. So close!

Similar experience with my wife. Took a new job in late October with more expensive insurance too. But then had to spend the 23 out of pocket max in Nov-Dec and then 2024 in January.

I honestly was naive when selecting the 2023 plan. Since annual out of pocket limits aren't pro-rated, I should have selected a high monthly premium / low deductible option for those 2 months.

Add property tax in January, Rose Bowl and Natty, I had to liquidate some savings and defer 401k investment.

On the other hand, I'm thankful my wife got the life saving treatment she needed. I'm grateful I can still afford to attend the games. Many fans cannot. I hope your treatment goes well and the good guys win for you!

Sorry to hear this... I was fortunate to not have a cancer diagnosis around the same time as you, but diagnosed with an autoimmune disease instead. I feel very fortunate to be where I am at, but also have been racking up the health bills. It is truly ridiculous. I wish you the best and have fun at the game.

Best wishes for your health challenges, and for financially surviving them.

Side note: I'm actually researching how to start a foundation for people who can't afford to write a check for $2,286.27 on the day of cancer surgery like I had to. I'm not poor by any means and I struggled with that one, I can't imagine how people without resources do it.
