Tate's Reception

Submitted by michWolves2580 on
I hate to jinx or anything like that so Im just being confident when I predict the game is out of reach enough that we start to see multiple quarterbacks. I do not know when he will come in, before or after devin, and Im not intending this post to be a debate but if and when tate's number is called... how do you think the crowd will react? I know some people view Tate as a prick or whiney little kid or whatever else absurd things ive read/heard but I for one think the kid played his heart out last year and will be cheering very hard and really hoping he plays great

I hope so.  Even with all the drama, that guy really gave it his all last year and I'd really hate for the fans to forget so quickly everything he did.

I know if he goes in, I'll be cheering for him from my living room.

Tate is the man. Just because some whiny people on the internet had a bad interaction with him doesn't mean the entire fanbase hates him.

.....twice in the first quarter with Denard, and twice more in the 2nd quarter with DG? We go into the half with 28 points. Suppose DG goes another quarter and adds two TDs in the third before he sits down. Is it even fair to play a full quarter with our THIRD STRING QB - TATE FORCIER, along with, say, Stephen Hopkins after putting up 42 points already? Maybe Tate should be forced to throw left handed or something. Holy wow are we stacked!

For the next two games I would LOVE to see:

1QTR: Denard;  2QTR: Devin;  3QTR: Tate;  4QTR: JACK KENNEDY! Whooooo

Practice hard all week, play with intensity and execute with perfection.

You might be going just a wee bit over board here.

I'm still too beat up from the past 3 years to go out on a limb like this.  I expect to win, but I'd be fine if Jack Kennedy doesn't see the field (or even Tate).  Definitely want to get Denard some rest this week though.

Maybe they weren't thrilled, but I think most people outside of talk radio at least understood his reaction.  It can't be easy going from starting twelve games to nominal third string.  However, at ND, he definitely seemed back on track... even if it seemed a bit scripted.

I know I'll be cheering for him.

Tate will be greeted by M fans with enthusiasm.  The kid gave it up vs. Indiana last year, hurt the shoulder, and still came back to throw an amazing TD for the win.  Tate has not made his last plays here at Michigan.

You have to love our depth at QB after the last two seasons.  If/when Tate gets in the UMass game, I'm going to cheer as loud as I can.  Same for DG.

In fact it better be.  But I understand the OP's point.  When Devin came in during the UCONN game, the crowd cheered wildly.  As if they were happy it was DG and not Tate

We have some stupid fans.  Some of these stupid fans are going to say the 5-7 record last year was due to Tate (i.e. if Denard had been in we would have won the B10!).  Better OL, better WR, better grasp of O in 2010 are things too deep to think about.  Add in some of our man Tate's reactions, and I can see some people acting poorly.  Especially if he doesn't score right away.

I don't think so, but I can see it.  I think we've got 3 special QB's, what's not to cheer?

We do and we should cheer as you suggest.  I reached in drawing a connection between the two.  The cheering for DG didn't assume a dimmer view towards Tate

Separate from that opening statement, however, I stand by the point of stupid fans and the risk of contagious Tate hate.

...and can't stop looking for new articles singing his praises .

But he wasn't ready to QB a Big Ten offense last year.

I will never forget how comforting it was to see Tate run the offense against ND last year.  If he hadn't kept hope alive early in the season, just imagine how much more negative the press would've been toward RichRod this past off-season.

I'll always be grateful for Tate keeping this team afloat early last season and restoring faith (even temporarily) in RichRod.  And if he's called upon for any reason down the road, it's good to know we've got as talented a QB as Tate waiting in the wings.  I'll be cheering like hell for him.

Tate is a good player and competitor. He will get a warm welcoming, and i know i will personally be glad to see him out there. I think its only fair for him to get at least a drive or two's worth of plays, as long as we're winning by a decent margin.
