Our LB core is our worst grouping. Bolden blows a play way too often....the others are below average. Now I see why Kelly didn't offer him. Ross is in position but can get engulfed. 52 Jenkins-Stone played well. and has outplayed Ojemduia and should start.

I have to agree with you.  They seem a bit slow/unathletic at times, which prevents them from making some plays.  Still, it's early days, and they can (and hopefully will) improve as a unit.

I keep reading that we made great defensive adjustments, but can someone actually explain what those adjustments were? I don't know enough to have picked them out myself, plus I was at a bar so I wasn't paying as much attention to that stuff as I would at home.

As someone who never played the game on any serious level and am only a fan, I was at the game and here was what I think were the adjustments.

There were actually both offensive and defensive changes - why am I commenting on offense, because keeping the ball for long periods of time keeps the defense fresh and Oregon State's offense OFF of the field - essentially a ball control offense when one is ahead is a potent form of defense.

1. Stopped trying to hit long home run bomb passes.

2. Ran a lot of quick stuff to the TEs and shorter stuff to WR.

3. MOST of all ran traps and counters between the tackles.

On defense

1. The DL and LB seemed to settle down and got their assignements sorted out on the spread option - there weren't as many times when completely open ball carrier broke free. The shift (unbalancing the line? by Oregon State) didn't seem to work after the 1st quarter.

2. Got pressure on the QB with the DL

3. Switched around the DBs - I couldn't track all of the personnel packages but there were times when Jabrill Peppers was playing a cornerback role clearly assigned to a particular receiver - but at times he was left on the weak side as the only DB - ? covering a whole zone by himself?

We'll have to wait for the Upon Further Review Defense - for a considered educated / knowledgeable analysis - all I know that it was a heavy dose of nostalgia - seemed like I was watching a classic Bo/Mo/Lloyd game and it was GREAT.
