Does anyone have an explanation for that spot not being overturned on the Stroud scramble? It seemed like one of the clearest ones I've seen, but the announcers just let it go after the review and said they agreed with it after they saw it again.
Is it it supposed to be where the ball is when his foot lands out of bounds?
Seriously. Just did a quick check of the play-by-play, and it looks like 13 of the 33 first downs were passes. So about 40% of the first down plays were passes, and yet people act like we run on first down AND second down all the time. I don't get it. Sure, there is the occasional run run pass sequence, but it's not the norm.
Thank you, I was about to post the same. I appreciate Cade and will always respect what he did last year as the starter, but JJ was arguably better in his third full game as a starter than Cade was in any of his 16 starts. And I think that most everyone agrees JJ is just getting started, while Cade was probably about at his ceiling.
According to ESPN's play by play, Michigan handed the ball off on 15 out of 27 1st down plays before the final two clock-killing drives (which were very successful clock killing drives btw). That is hardly 90%, and I'm sure some of those were likely not "runs up the middle". In other words, it was more like 50% "runs up the middle" on 1st down, if that. Maybe someday that narrative will go away.
Yes, that's what I don't get. Just a few plays earlier, the Michigan player was clearly targeted, injured by the target, carted off the field, and the replay showing the targeting was played while we were waiting. And somehow it didn't cross their mind to check for targeting during the ~5 minutes between the kickoff and the first play of the drive. Yet their eagle eyes caught the incidental contact between the tackles in the 40 seconds between plays....
Am I the only one confused by the Hill holding penalty on the first drive? As the replay starts, it looks like the receiver's arm is pushing Hill back which causes Hill to (barely) grab his arm. Or did the penalty occur before the replay started, and the receiver was pushing Hill to get away from his hold? And if that's the case, why didn't they include the actual penalty in the replay? It seems strange to me, but maybe I'm missing something.
does anyone else think this followed the script from many other Beilein teams? Except for the one year they had 5 NBA players, of course. Look overmatched, hang within striking distance, make a run to get the lead somewhere in the last 10 minutes, and take their best shot but hold on to win. Not good for my health, but exciting nonetheless!
A few complained that he's slow (I think someone said "slowest 70+ yard run ever" in the game thread), but I think it just looks that way because he's so big - no one was catching him. He might not be a 4.4 burner, but neither are a lot of the big backs. But they can still get plenty of yards.
I'm still thinking 8-4 is very likely, with 9-3 and 7-5 both possible. Five losses would be tough to swallow, but I think we'd finish it off with a good showing in a bowl game. By then we should be firing on all cylinders, and hopefully Rudock will have settled into what we were expecting - a solid, accurate QB who may not hit many deep balls, but moves the chains and avoids mistakes.
I watched every game possible the past years. Looked forward to them too. But it's different this year, this expectation that they will look like a solid team. Maybe cohesive is the word - everyone looks like they know where they are supposed to be. I'm expecting for them to look good against a lesser opponent rather than just hoping for it.
Bells Two Hearted, Founders -All Day IPA, Pale Ale, and Reds Rye. Also, New Holland Sundog and Perrin Black Lager are a couple good ones. In the end however I rarely find a micro brew I don't like....
This is going to be tough to overcome. How will UM survive if Coach Harbaugh doesn't make up with Cowherd? How will they get kids to come play? We need him on our side!!!!!
I love how Perry was back up and almost downfield enough to make another block. Since he wasn't quite in front it would have been awesome to see him peel back and hit #29 one more time down the field, just to show him what's up.
...or maybe his blocker was too slow. Jabrill blew by him, and it would have been nice to have him still in front twenty yards down the field. That speed is crazy - I think we're going to see some big returns this year!
Tony Romo was at the water park we stayed at in the Wisconsin Dells a couple months ago on Fathers Day. He was wearing a hat and sunglasses, and I would not have guessed he was a pro athlete if I didn't see someone ask for his autograph.
Clyde Lovelette (NBA hall of famer, one of the first real big men to play back in the 50s) lived in my hometown in the UP for a while and went to my church. Look him up - very impressive resume for someone you've probably never heard of.
Played against Drew Stanton in a Lansing city softball league ~10 years ago. Not sure if that counts though. He had a pretty good arm at shortstop.
This stinks - at least it was after the deadline. Almost like he gave the farm system one last boost to soften the blow. I guess we'll see if those who say anyone could do it with this payroll are right. I wonder what really happened.
I like to think that if I had millions of dollars thrown my way, I'd do something similar. Am I odd to think that I'd need a million dollars to be able to live in a van?
We'd take chunks of beef - from stew meat to steak, doesn't matter - throw on some seasoned salt, and cook them at the end of a stick, one piece at a time. Dinner took two hours, but we had nothing but time.
Agree that you can't go wrong with Founders/Bell's. Two Hearted / Red's Rye are my favorites from those two. Saugatuck is not too far of a trip either and is really good.
I keep hearing talk of trading players (Cespedes in particular) and then re-signing them after the season. Does this ever happen? Seems like it would be a great deal for the selling team, but I can't recall it happening before.
Raise your hand if you realize that UM was just a shade under 2000 yards rushing in 2014, with 4.6 YPC. With so much coming back, and Ty Isaac in the mix as well, they seem to be on track for a big year running the ball. If only they can keep some drives alive on third down!

Better QB play by OU and this would have been much different.
Hope your day at the Big House was great today!
maybe we need a new thread to update us on the situation.
