YTTV is still the best bang for buck.

The price hike is annoying, but their dvr is unbeatable, and their sports coverage only slightly lags behind basic cable, which is still more expensive in most locations and has a far worse mobile experience.

Plus, I have no doubt the price hike was pushed on YTTV by Viacom, so you're a fool if you don't think a similar price hike is coming to Sling in the near future. Granted, they have the one year guarantee so you'll save money for that time, but the savings will go away after that.

"and their sports coverage only slightly lags behind basic cable"

Their price is higher than cable & internet bundles right now once you factor in price of internet too. Of course those are introductory rates, but if you call you can usually get that extended.

I've been skeptical for a while, but I'm switching to YTTV.

Price will be $140 for YTTV/internet (with better internet than comcast).  I was paying $185 for cable/internet that included Sports Package and HBO (~25/mo.), so will end up being $20 cheaper from an apples to apples comparison.

What sold me on it was adding new TVs.  With Comcast, I have to get a box for each TV at additional monthly cost - and it's more if I want HD and DVR.  I'm getting two more TVs not paying incremental monthly fees for them is a huge selling point.

Except it's literally not the best bang for buck compared to bundled TV+Internet deals, which you can either rotate on a 2 year basis or negotiate. Two years ago I was paying $40 and it was a no brainer. Previously I had used PS Vue. YTTV is now essentially on par with cable.

I have YTTV as well and I am going to move to SlingTV since SlingTV is moving aggressively to take customers from YTTV.

They already announced unlimted DVR service: https://news.sling.com/2019-12-23-Sling-TV-bolsters-live-TV-with-Fox-News-MSNBC-CNNs-HLN-in-base-service-launches-free-cloud-DVR-updated-pricing-channel-lineups

This announcement also had this nugget:

Sling is also updating its sports offerings, with Big Ten Network (BTN) to launch on Sling TV ahead of the 2020-21 college football season.

That pretty much seals the deal for me. I am going to sign up as soon as my current monthly period ends with YTTV.

Sling has some decent offerings, but their Orange versus Blue options mix and mingle channels that could conceivably broadcast Michigan games.   I also hate to admit that no Big 10 Network is a big deal, especially for hoops season.

I never thought I would contemplate this option, but I might just stream Michigan sports radio broadcasts next season and catch the few network broadcasts using the digital antenna.

No BTN is a deal breaker. Actually where I live you have to pay extra for it even on traditional cable since I'm in SEC/ACC country, so YTTV is easily my best option despite the damn price increase. If Sling added BTN so I could watch all the UM football games I would most likely switch.

Does anyone have Hulu Live TV and can give a review of it? I’ve seriously been considering this for months.

We live in Wisconsin where Spectrum has excellent internet but very bad cable user experience. We've had Hulu Live and had no troubles for around $95 a month (HBO, unlimited screens, enhanced DVR). Occasional buffer but very minor. Really enjoy Hulu but the card cutting savings haven't materialized.

I have also had a positive experience with Hulu Live, but they recently upped their price as well. As Sambora mentioned, I'm not sure the "savings" of getting rid of traditional cable have really saved me all that much.

I pay $86 for internet through U-Verse and almost $59 after taxes for Hulu. I guess not being stuck in a contract is nice, and I'm able to watch everything that I want, but I was bitching about paying $160 when I was with a local cable provider and I'm nearing that number again.

Yeah, I saw this too but when you go to Sling TV and look at the channel listings, they still do not list BTN, even in the sports extra package.  I am not sure what this means.  But if they have BTN and if they have fixed their buffering problems I experienced 4 years ago whee I first used them, I will switch in a heartbeat.

You guys are all such sheep...I use my friend's Hulu, my mother-in-law's ESPN and BTN, my cousin's 2nd-cousin once removed HBOGo account, and my parent's Netflix.

Why are you guys paying so much?!

I constantly had problems streaming live sports on Sling. Maybe it was my internet or something, but I ended up just paying for cable.

Meh. I was an early YTTV adopter and appreciate the new channels they’ve added since they were $35 a month with a free Chromecast. I pay $39.99 a month for Internet (Wide Open West) and am still saving money over having UVERSE at $200 a month. I realized I was the only one out of the 4 of us who watched live TV, and the only live stuff I watch is sports. We get Netflix for free with T-Mobile and have always had Amazon Prime. I agree that the YTTV mobile options and DVR take away some of the sting. Look—they are pushing HD programming magically through the air to be watched on whatever device you feel like watching it on, and you can record and re-watch from wherever. When I was a kid, you had ONE SHOT to watch something on a display that Minecraft players would find grainy. If you missed Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you were boned for 365 consecutive days...and you effing watched The Sound of Music and The Ten Commandments on TV because you had no other options. I am not losing sleep over this.

Seeing lots of comments about having lots of buffering in the past... I currently use Sling TV, and there is no buffering when loading the channels. Only thing is that the compression and uncompression of video feeds causes a slight delay in how “live” it is: usually a half play or play behind in football. And adding BTN in August, so that knocks out the only other issue with it

The reason I did not go with Sling several years ago was due to the fact they did not carry the B1G network. $30.00/mo is what I use to pay for Hulu but now it is up to $55.00/mo. I think it could be a bit cheaper if I did not want the 2 app option. Often when I have to travel for work, I can watch games on my I phone almost everywhere.
