Izzo loosing his shit.

I can't imagine being a university president and not firing a guy who yells at his own players like that; coaches need to be examples, especially in basketball where your coach is such an integral part of your growth.

There is no way on earth I would ever let my son anywhere near Izzo.

I used to respect him, but he seems to be a tad unhinged now.

Side note after the first half of our game wasn’t it Henry who he flat threw under the bus in the interview ?  I think he said something like “ our freshman is just not good enough to play right now “.

Winston just got called for pushing off on a drive.

My God, somebody alert the B1G. There actually ARE refs who know what a foul by him looks like.

There's refs that actually call their bullshit and ignore Izzo's whining, and lo and behold, they're down to a 9-9 team from the Missouri Valley Conference deep into the second half.

Bradley needs one more push here. Dodged some bullets but of course Winston is money with that floater.

MSU has a lot of momentum now. Need moar turnovers.

I was hoping sparty would cement the fact that "one and done" has a different definition in the sparty dictionary then it does for the rest of the college basketball world but they're sneaking away with the win instead. Motherfuckers.

The problem with those clock-bleeding possessions is that a good college basketball offense operates by providing multiple options for passing and ballhandling as the offense cycles through its picks and passes. When you hold like that to the end you wind up running one play that has to work or you have no alternative options.

Clock-bleeding stuff is at least logical if you have a lead or are working to get the last shot at the end of a half--removing scoring opportunities for the opponent is good--but when you're behind I think you need to run some offense and accept the possibility that a good offensive look will result in a lead you have to defend for a few seconds.

Last minute I swapped Marquette vs Michigan elite 8 to FSU vs Michigan.

Glad I did that... Marquette might fall.

Damn.

Good job, Bradley. You left it all on the court.

And maybe STAEE has used up their supply of magic fairy dust or dark-side force or whatever saved them in this game, and won't have any left for the rest of the tourney.

I haven't seen that much Morant, but I don't think his game is that similar. He isn't nearly as athletic--Westbrook attacking in transition is a truly singular phenomenon--but he's a better distributor and takes smarter shots. When Marquette was keeping in front of him he wasn't scoring much in the first half, but he was racking up the assists.

He has huge usage and is still reasonably efficient. But he's playing with an Ohio Valley-level team, there's a lot of room for him to spread it out when he plays with more talent.

He does need to improve his 3-point shooting, though, only about 33% this year.
