Playing with the Class Calculator on 247

Yeah, I'm bored.

Just for shitz n grinz I subtracted N Harris from Bama.  Added Harris, Nico, Filiaga and Solomon to the good guys and ended up at roughly 300 for each team.  That sort of shows the lead Bama has up to this point.  Granted, Bama will add a player or 3, especially if Harris would decommit.

My guess is Nico and Filiaga will be Blue and our chances might be better for Harris than they are for Solomon.  Who knows. It isn't that far out of the range of possibilities to add those 4.

IMO, Recruiting is like a drive in golf to use a golf analogy.  Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh and Smart all hit their drives and you could throw a blanket on top of the drives.  They are all good classes.  Its what they do with the 2nd shot and putting, development, etc will make a team successful.

Dontonio's drive is back about 40 yards and in the rough, btw.  Poor Sparty!

Go Blue!

Best thing about this class is that the talent was picked by Harbaugh and his trusted agents. I listened to a podcast the other day that was talking about this class most likely won't be as good as last yrs in terms of look back at what immediate impact last yrs class had (throwing star ratings out the window) and that it'll be tough to beat that this year. But I think this class has the same potential. The difference in last yrs class was it was the first hand picked by this staff. Now this year has more momentum and we were able to get more of our top targets. Then you have 1 returning (assuming Peppers is going pro) defensive starter. All those spots WILL BE competed for, even if we know that Gary, Mone, Hurst, Kinnell will most likely win their starting spots. This class has a bigger opportunity and it'll be interesting to see if they take advantage of it.

We should very close to 299...good for 3rd or 4th. I've said this over and over. That's best case. No chance we jump 1 or 2. In other news Herbert got another CB to UF.

We're gonna thump FSU and Florida within 8 months and get our Florida pipeline to grow even stronger. And to start next year people can't use the excuse of a team just not being into the game.

Here's who we're looking at (that I know of):

1.) Najee Harris (Crystal ball prediction: 33%, 2nd highest chance)

2.) Aubrey Solomon (4%, T-3rd, although he said himself that Michigan was the leader in November)

3.) Chuck Filiaga (75%, 1st)

4.) Nico Collins (75%, 1st)

5.) Tedarrell Slaton (38%, T-1st)

6.) Jay Tufele (Considered in 20% 'foggy' range, although his interest in Michigan is listed as 'warmer')

7.) Willie Gay (12%, although he said Michigan was his #1 before his visit to Ann Arbor in October, which he made very positive comments on afterwards)

If we get all of those guys, the score rises to 308.64, but let's be realistic. How many of these guys do you all see us picking up?

A player they're looking at after Wilson did not commit is Mekhi Becton.  OT  Huge guy. High ceiling?  I think thats the word on him.

Look at his hudl about half way through.  He down blocks or whatever it is they call it when the OT just goes at the defensive guys legs.  He's fairly agile for his size, imo.

To be fair, there was a time this fall that Michigan recruiting was hyping the "Great Wall" including Leatherwood and a few others too. We don't have him, we don't have Wilson, we probably can't get Slaton. I didn't reasonably expect to get the entire Great Wall, but I was hopeful we'd get 3 or 4, not 1 or 2.

I'll take any top 10 class. Harbaugh will build a great team with his recruits. Last year he was number 5 and most likely be number 3 in '17.  I was a bit surprised he did not get a bigger bump in '15 but it is hard to recruit with only 1 month on the job.

Nico: I dont think were getting Nico anymore. He just said he will announce in February where hell go. If Alabama wins it all like they are supposed to, I think that hype might draw him to Bama

Fillaga: I think hes a lock for Michigan

Solomon: I think hes going to come to his sense and come back to Michigan. I mean he decommited over a thank you card? lol. That isnt a serious reason to not choose a school over

Harris: Im scared on Harris. Many people forget HE IS AN ALABAMA COMMITT. He could simply not be saying anything because........hes committed to Alabama. Now I do like that he continues to rock Michigan gear. I know that doesnt mean much but if he really didnt like UM anymore I dont think hed wear our clothing. Its 50/50 in my mind

Oh no, that could only be bad news. Especially if you ignore little things like it's about the 100th time he's said that and he's never said anything else. Waiting to see if Bama is good, also logical. Now I'm really worried.

Thanks for the news on Harris. I had no idea he was committed to Bama. No one ever mentions that.
