OT - Thread Idea - MgoProfiles

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

As we fade from the OT season it occurs to me that it would be fun to reincarnate an old thread idea about mgoblogger profiles, or Q & A's, for our more regular posters.  I know somewhere down a trail here on the blog you can find some old ones, but they are indeed years old and there is a new crop of folks it would be fun to know more about.  I thought of a few categories:

1.  regulars: guys like robf, ray, sadeto, duckstep, brutus, e.german, everybody murders, cali and s.d. mick

2.  regulars who will need to disclose their prescriptions:  mad hatter, mean joe, rafi

3. mgolady bloggers:  wendy, mabel, and of course mgobrewmom

4.  some of the OG's:  don, blaze, space coyote, and the mods, or updates if they have old ones (mgrowold?)

So the questions for the board would be 3-fold:

a.) good idea?   b.) if so, who would you like to hear from?  3.) what format (set questions, maybe follow-up Q & A) would work?

Maybe run them on Mondays or Tuesday, slower days on the blog so they wouldn't clog up good football days, when we get back to OT season, or maybe a bad idea and just fo'gettaboutit!

** Please don't be offended if I missed you on a list - I have limited brain power and it's late**

EDIT:  Looks like the board likes the idea, but best to wait until at least past bowl season, and maybe past hoops season - unless of course that turns into a dumpster fire.

Sounds like a good idea. But once Football starts, we wouldn't be able do this. Would not have enough time. Off season is probably the best time.

Who was the kid with the Mario Manningham-type handle and magazine cover avatar that was clearly under the age of 16? He was basically the original, angsty, less dedicated, more delusional WD. I want to MgoProfile that dude now that his hormones aren't raging. Edit: we could go another route and do a Mr Rager roast. That would be fun, right?

If we added a "Where are they now?" section to the profiles in the HOF, his would basically detail how not to get an MGoCareer on the board off the ground, but on the flip side, it would be the blueprint for giving that same thing a spectacular ending if you wanted to flame out and - by all accounts - never return. That last thread of his, as I recall, was supremely bad and full of angst-ridden nonsense.

My dad has been sick so my time has been limited. I still hop on a lot to read the latest Mgoblog news, but don't have the time to dabble in the threads. I've also been turned on to the Walking Dead series by a friend that says it's based on a true story (which I had no idea). So I've also been busy stocking up on canned goods and water.

There's something to be said for folks who can find humor even though things in their life may not be very funny at that particular moment. Well done. Best wishes to you your old man.

Who listed would dare contribute factual information given their high posting numbers? They might be identified and fired for slacking off. Good sentiment though; as with you Xtra-M, I am often curious about the backgrounds of various posters including yours. I might choose to keep an arm's length from "everybody murders" just in case. I mean he appears sane yet the name and avatar ...

I truly hope the "good posters" past, present and future will load this site up with insights and analyses once the season is in full swing. Best sports blog evah.

Why not a BS Hall of Fame Blog (that's Back Slappers), and you guys with a zillion points could reminisce while the rest of us oogle and ahhhh over your musings.  But, please wait until after our bowl win.

There was a guy that used to post on the ESPN boards that posted here for a few months that had his unique communication within the written word. He often had people replying to his posts asking why he was typing like a robot. He never had a good answer, just that he preferred to communicate that way. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking about?
