I remember we had many a discussion here about him before he went radio silent and committed to Cal. Now he's rowing the boat with P.J Fleck.

I'm actually pretty close to this situation - my girlfriend knows Vic pretty well, her little sister graduated with hiim at Norco.  I asked the sister about him at Thanksgiving and she felt pretty confident he wasn't at Cal anymore because of grades, she said "he's the dumbest guy you'll ever meet" and she's friends with him.  I don't know if that played a role in why he didn't end up in our class, but it sure could have.  Doesn't really explain him landing at Berkeley instead, but perhaps they were more willing to take a risk on his talent than we were (a risk that didn't pay off, clearly).

Viramontes told the guy from Land of Ten that he was a silent commit and he was expected to commit on signing day. Michigan didn't send him a LOI.

I remember Brandon Justice hinting at a silent commit on Twitter and having conversations with Viramontes to back it up.

There's a thread about it. http://www.mgoblog.com/mgoboard/lorenz-viramontes-was-not-offered-loi-t…

It ended bad here basically because he was told at the last minute he was no longer going to be able to "compete" at the QB position for Michigan, but we would like u to stay on and work out at FB and possibly LB.

No matter what anyone says here in regards to this situation or Sam said this, or that didn't happen, it is in fact exactly what happened a week before signing day. JH told him he wasn't able to compete at QB. I know for a fact it happened.

Killed me because I know the kid, the family and the situation. Dude just threw for 2000 yards and 25 TD and rushed for 1300 and 21 more TD in a tuff Cali Juco league that went to the Cali championship.

He wants to play QB so he asked for his release from Cal as they wanted him at LB as well. Kid is FUCKING FEARLESS! kills me after watching our QB play the last 2 years to think what might of been.

with the dates. (I knew the story from first hand knowledge and didn't remember actual dates ) Let's just say this, he de committed after he was told he would no longer be able to compete at QB. It's sad because this kid will probably start for Minny next year and run all over the BIG10, the kid is fearless. The few weeks before he heard he was no longer a QB option for Michigan he heard absolutely nothing from the staff. Now, this is all from the horses mouth and the parents, which I believe because I witnessed the same thing w this staff from one of my best friends kids who was a UA participant and now is the starting LT at a Power 5 conference. It's sad because I was there at the UA game all week and I also heard this from the kid and his parents that committed to FSU as well and is there starting RG or LG now. "They called 2 days before his visit and cancelled his trip" he was down to Michigan, Tennessee and FSU. We could of had a monster OLine class that year but held out for 1 guy because they thought he was in the bag.

Same MO - offered and then heard nothing, once Michigan was shut out then they came a calling again after 1-2 months. Sad and I think Michigan coaches have learned a lesson here as we haven't heard of this since. I love Michigan and this kills me to have witnessed this.

I know my buddies kid now has started for a year and a half at LT and is getting serious feelers already from the NFL. We could of had him to if Drev didn't no show to the appointment at his school. No cancellation, No call NOTHING! they never heard from Michigan again. He's like 6'6 310 now and has 15 plus starts at LT and C

Just saying that Michigan did VV wrong and not the other way. As they did a few others early on when they started recruiting.

That 2016 recruiting class featured both Viramontes and Jordan Elliott, two guys who have bounced around a lot in 2 years.  I wish them both luck, but it's probably good Michigan didn't sign them.
