OT- This is the craziest stat re: Bill Stewart
This is obviously a bizarre coincidence mostly relating to the Big East conference, however, per Doc Sat one in three coaches that loses to Bill Stewart at West Virginia is fired within two years afterward. Statistically, that is the kiss of death considering UWV has had a respectable record and is not a lesser team dealing out epic upsets that is throwing the opposing fan base into an uproar thereby demanding their coach's head. There may be a proxy for this with some winning coach in the NFL simply due to high churn, but this seems strange for the college ranks.

It's not as bad as getting Croom'd.

That's... absolutely bizarre.

Interesting and strange stat, though I'm sure a coincidence

Losing to Opie would embarrassing as hell for RR.

There are no B10/BE bowl matchups, so we should be fine.
For now.

He's only six months older than I am, so I don't need to call him "Uncle." I also think "Gomer" or "Goober" would work too.

You're 57 Don? You look much older in your Avitar.
And FWIW....I'm in the 50's club too.

I think its more likely a derivative of a bad conference that wants so badly to be recognized as a good conference, so there is a lot of turnover.
1 in 3, not too coincidental to me.

The percentage is even higher for coaches who lost to Greg Robinson. Just ask Steve Kragthorpe and Charlie Weis.

That's one small sample size there, Dreis!

Six bad coaches have gotten fired over the past three years? Doesn't sound that strange to me.

That would tend to happen in a conference where one team is better than decent (for the most part) and the rest of the conference sucks ass.

Must be a down time in football for Doc Saturday to consider this a worthwhile story.

That stat is interesting, at least in large part because it shows just how many crappy teams WVU has played the past few years.

It might be more interesting if 1 in 3 coaches that beat Stewart were fired. I think losing and getting fired are probably endogenously related.
