OT: Brian Kelly signs 6-year extension at ND

Submitted by NoVaWolverine on

The purple-faced one is staying at ND. Smart move by the Irish; kinda surprised he isn't sniffing around an NFL gig.

(for some reason I can't seem to paste a link here...)

Good. When Michigan and ND start to play again, I want Jim and his squad to kick the shit out of him and his team.

right we want him. Dear rivals: please lock up your light middleweight coaches in cripplingly large long-term contracts so we can begin to humiliate you on the regular.

I predict that by the time that Cap'n Queeg Kelly retires he'll be in a wheelchair with an eyepatch and a pacemaker.

You watch that "go to play" in close yardage where the receivers "block" in an "X" pattern and usually the outside one springs free.  Borderline legal and they have been busted for it before.

In my mind at least, you jam that one play and sack the QB and you beat Kelly 49 x out of 50.

They have had some talented OL and front 7s and done very well.  I think they have been in the NC conversation sometimes undeservedly but eventually reality always returned to slay the golden balloon.

They do (did?) play a heck of a schedule, I would like to be back on it, sort of a midwestern grudge match.  Maybe not every single year but 2years home n home with 2 years off.  Just an idea.

Surprising. I pegged him heading for the NFL in the next few seasons. But that's good for ND. He seems to be a good to great coach.

If he has the right talent and his team doesn't get plagued by injury like it did this year, they're playoff contenders for sure.

Thought he would head for the NFL. I don't think ND can realistically do better. With the playoff ND should be forced to join the conference. To Hell with ND.
