Michigan vs Miami 2008 (Video vault)

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Just finished this today. A very hot day this was 9 years ago and a very bad season.

But just watch and look how far we've come since then. Watching this I can't help but think of going back in time and telling myself back then what would unfold over the next 7 years.

Even look how far the stadium has come since then. The skeleton of the boxes loomed over with the old press box still there.

Very grateful things are back in the right direction now.

We always seem to fart around against them.

1995 was a 12 point game in the 3rd quarter before a 4th Q TD made it 38-19 Michigan for the win.

2001 was a 17-6 game in the 4th quarter before we pulled away to make it 31-13

2004 was a 24-10 game in the 4th before we piled on 19 in the final quarter (2 missed PATs!) to win 43-10

2014 was a 17-10 game at halftime against a team that had one win in 2 years.

no matter how often they give us a game.

Even the great 2006 team futzed around and had to put the starters back in to hold off Ball St. only a couple weeks before The Game. Won 34-26, but Ball St., which came into the game 3-6, so not even a good team by Ball St. standards, got to the 2-yard line in the dying minutes before getting stopped.

Always, always wary of the MAC. In this case, harbinger indeed. The only positive glimmer we had after this was the insane second half vs. Wisconsin that let everything think for just a moment that we'd be OK. Oh well. We'll always have "Minor is Major" and not much else from 2008.

That Ball State game....ugh. Henne's pick six was returned to our end zone. Had a nice up close shot of that. While that game was truly a WTF game, I didn't feel as helpless after an ugly win under Bo, Moe or Lloyd as I did with RichRod. We knew how royally f*cked we were going to be the rest of the season.

This game was when I first scratched my head. Brandon Minor, who could probably beat up in a fight anyone on Miami's team, gets to ride pine while we feature Mcstuffy.

Watching D players that you knew could play at a certain level(not saying great but vs. the Miami s of the world usually dominate) just getting flat driven off by a MAC squad?

I went from 100% hell yes let's do this to 80% with a strong slice of doubt creeping in after this game. It fluctuated back to the 90-100 level many times before I was ready to bail but I clearly recall this game, for me, moved the wrong needle.
