Michigan at Maryland to be a night game on BTN
Sigh.

It's kind of getting irritating that every time we have to play at Northwestern, Rutgers, Maryland, etc it's now pretty much automatically a night game.
On the other hand, it's because Michigan is Michigan.
It's irritating that there are multiple night games in a season.
There's going to be a whole shitload of them this year, most likely. Already two confirmed out of the first 5 games.
That's not counting the home night game.
A lot of high school teams play exclusively night games. They seem to be ok
Welcome to the Internet.
I can't believe the Big Ten Network didn't consult you before putting out their primetime football schedule. A pox on the BTN!
It's because when schedules are announced we were, are and will always be the "circled game" to each and every team we play:
And let's keep it that way.
So, night games away it is.
Why is it annoying playing a night game?
In fact, why do some people think night games should be reserved for "special" games? Night games are just night games. They should not have to be against quality teams. I, for one, would like to beat the shit out of a team at night when the entire nation is watching.
Because then there's nothing special about it being a night game if it's against a shitty team. Playing at night is supposed to be reserved for your toughest opponents to get all home field advantage possible. If you play a shitty team at night what's the point?
That "shitty" team beat us at home last season, which I sat through in the drizzle. They weren't that good but I wouldn't call them "shitty".
Wow this sucks. Just what we need, a tough road crowd at night.
Maryland that lost by 30-50 to every legit team in the Big 10 (OSU MSU Wisconsn) and lost its QB and best WR?
If we arre worried about playing this type of team just scrap the program. Even Brady's hoke LOL bunch gave them a game. We arent paying Harbaugh $5M to be worried about this game being oh so tough. Not that it is simple win but MSU went in there a week after being emotionally devastated vs OSU and made them look like jello pops. And that was with a SR QB. They lost some of their key weapons and will revert to mean this year. OSU beat them 52-24 (in MD as well). Are we 5 TDs behind MSU and OSU at this point that this is a pee your pants moment? Cumong. (Wiscy beat em 52-7 at home last year - yeah that awesome Maryland squad)
And I don't think I would refer to people from Maryland as tough in general. Their mascot is a turtle FFS.
I can't believe you dissed turtles.
is not = a ninja turtle. If their mascot was a ninja turtle I'd have a little more respect for them.
Although, the new ninja turtles show kinda sucks. They really dumbed it down. They don't even use their real names.
People on here back in November were still saying the team was improving after losing to Maryland at home.
Is there any evidence that the home team gets an advantage from a night game? I can't imagine it makes a difference.
We haven't lost one yet!
But my reaction is "Crap, I'll be getting home after 1AM."
That's still a hoops school. They couldn't sell out for FSU or Miami when they were in the ACC. If there's any school I wouldn't worry about playing at night in the B1G, it's Maryland.
what time the game is played. I just want to see us stomp the shit out of Maryland. Let them know that last year was a fluke and that it won't be happening again.
You want less night games? Be a bad program that doesn't draw in viewers. Name of the game right now and fans just have to accept it.

You explain all you want, I'm still going to hate night games for the rest of my life. I'm a fan of noon games. I know there are others out there who feel the same.
I don't like 3:30 games but I'd much rather have those over night games.
Negbang away.
Going to games, I do agree with you. Give me a noon game where I will be attending. If I'm at home watching, I much prefer a later game (life gets in the way).
I would have to say I'm the opposite
Same. Always nice going out with friends to a sports bar after Michigan's game and watch all the other games.
And it's nice to get the stress of knowing that Michigan won out of the way earlier.
I get your second point about not worrying, but don't get the first part of your statement. What is stopping you from going to the bar at noon for those games, watching the M game at 3:30 or later at the same spot, and then staying for the night games (or leaving)?
It's more of your average opponent game. If Michigan is playing Purdue and I'm attending, I'd much rather it be a noon game. If Michigan is in the top 10, playing another top 10 team, please give me a night game.
The season opener is a weird thing. I start my fall semester that week so I'll be out doing shit that day unlike regular football Saturdays where I'm waiting around all day for the game to start.
It will almost be like a basketball game, coming home and watching at night.
Agreed. Do life that day, then settle down at night to watch Michigan football on TV. Can't get better than that.
(Granted, I can DVR the noon or afternoon games, but then I'm PARANOID someone is going to tell me the score before I can watch).
There is no worse time slot on Saturday than noon.
The later the better for me and my friends who watch together every Saturday. We go to one a year as well and we always shoot for the later ones.
At least we're not Nebraska, scheduling prime time games against South Alabama.
What's so bad about night games?
I will say they're much more fun to go to than they are watching at home.
Even then, still got home at 2am.
You're a college student that's complaining about getting in at 2...? Why?
I am the most boring college student on Earth.

Amen.
Only thing I hate about night games is missing the other national big games. Same reason I now hate the noon slot. There are NO games every scheduled most weeks of any value. They cram them all in at 3:30 PM or night. So you go from not being able to find a viable game to watch (Purdue v Illinois) at noon to trying to juggle 4 games at 3:30 PM - or if UM is on then you miss all those other good games.
I hate having to wait all day to watch them play
It's all about doll hairs.
