Michigan injury frequency - high, low or average?

Submitted by UMProud on September 22nd, 2019 at 9:26 AM

We seem to see a steady stream of injuries from practice and gametime.  Under Harbaugh we have seen Peters, Speight and DM hurt...we've also seen numerous positional injuries.

Football is a tough sport and some injuries are unavoidable of course.  But after seeing Dcaff hurt I can't help but wonder iis our frequency of injuries on par with most teams?

Is this the thread for unresearched questions?

How many plays were effed because Shea did not see wide open receivers, how many were effed because Shea is inaccurate, and how many were effed because the line or WRs put forth subpar effort?

This is true, but at least the OP is taking a stab and seeing if some hard data can be found. That's a lot better than the "cursed" crowd who whine about our injuries and just assume we are on the high end of this category without lifting a finger to back this claim up.

No idea but I do know Wisconsin has injured our stud Tackle (2016), newly starting QB (2017) and now Dcaf off very questionable hits. Disgusting, really. 3 is a trend. Oh, but football is "violent sport" muh friends. Or something.

Game injuries are likely as random as turnover luck, which for us this year is bad.

i happen to know a little bit and have heard “everyone” was really beat up in preseason.  The NCAA preseason practice rules changed this year and I have heard the way UM coaches decided to run the workouts was particularly grueling.

Wisconsin had injuries too, including one that took their beast mode runningback out of half of the game.

I'd have been called a moron if I told you Wisconsin would beat us 35-14 without Taylor for half the game, but here we are.

I do recall Arkansas fans warning us that Herbert's strength and conditioning program caused a spike in injuries at Arkansas. Not saying it's happening here, just saying

I’ve been curious about the allegations of the Arkansas fans about Herbert. My gut reaction is that it’s typical internet fan foolishness, but you’d have to do a deep statistical look to truly know one way or the other.

I do have some doubts about the effectiveness of Herbert’s S&C program with our OL—especially in relation to the program hype about him—but then I’m undoubtedly another foolish fan on the internet.

Yes, it is. The majorly injury issue is we don’t have the depth or player development that Ohio State has on hand.

If you need an example, Ohio State won the national championship with a 3rd strong QB.

I would be much more concerned about why some of our top talent transfers when they are certain to start the next season.

Not passed up by other players; certain to be starting the next season.

Super high at key positions.  We are down to starting our third string QB and third string RB going into the 4th game of the season.  LT is a mess.  Your best receiver and punt returner - DPJ - looks about 60% of his former speed.  DT is decimated - Jeter is playing injured.  Metellus went out with what looked like a severe arm injury yesterday and Ross is limited.

My friend has been playing football all his life and recently he had a tragedy. The knee injury left a big mark on his career. Doctors said he could continue to play football but at greater risk for his knee. However, he found a great solution here https://ortorex.com/p/knee/. His doctor spoke very well about this product.
