Michigan gets screwed… yet again

Submitted by Justibro on June 6th, 2022 at 4:47 PM

In what is no surprise to most of us Michigan fans, Michigan gets screwed in the bottom of the 8th. With Michigan up by 2 a Louisville runner slides into second and was tagged in the hand and called safe. A video replay, which was evident and stated by both announcers as the runner being out, was left as the runner being safe. This lead to a 4 run 8th inning, and while Michigan still has bats at the top of the 9th, all but cost Michigan the game.
So yet again, thanks NCAA for screwing us

how bout you sack up and get the next batter?  Or don't walk a guy with two outs in 8th protecting a 2 run lead.  instead the give up single and HR.  Weak

This 1000%. Westin throws strike 3 right down the center of the plate, mid thigh, and it gets called a ball. It was 100% horseshit. Plus the Lville player that hit the double in the 8th could have been rung up on a pitch the hit the corner for strike three also, right before he hit the double. Hard to not feel like the umping crew was determined to give this game to Louisville, at least the guy behind the plate.

NEITHER of the plays you are referencing would have happened with competent umpiring at home plate, our pitcher Weston made 3rd strike pitches (that were inexplicably called balls) on both those Louisville batters.

With the correct calls, we're still leading 9-7.

This is my thing, too!  At what point do the officials (umpires, refs, whatever) get credit for screwing one team over the other?  At what point is it fair to criticize them openly and admit that a horrible call actually affects the game?

I'm sick of the "sack up" posts when a team gets visibly screwed on a bad call that should have been easily overturned.  They are pompous, unrealistic, and only meant to start an argument.

3 times really. The guy who hit the doubke to start should have been rung up on strike 3 before he was also thrown out at second all before the HR was hit after another pit h that was clearly strike three. I really hate to blame umps/refs etc... but damn it sure seems like Michigan is never on the right end of these calls.

if I keep checking this board will I find out this game ended differently and less painfully and not completely out-of-our-hands like the game I just saw?

I'm as pissed as everyone but how about not giving up 11 fucking 2-out runs.  Yeah, thats right, Louisville scored all fucking 11 runs with two outs.  Thats pathetic.

Other than the fact that they reviewed the call that gave them 3 more outs AFTER the missed call.  And they reviewed it for a few minutes.  It was so obvious he was out some sort of shenanigans were at play here. So, they make the right call there, just the 7.  Or the next fucked up call, still 7.

Also the home plate ump should have called strike three based on previous pitches before the go ahead runs. Whatever it is what it is.
