Michigan gets screwed… yet again
In what is no surprise to most of us Michigan fans, Michigan gets screwed in the bottom of the 8th. With Michigan up by 2 a Louisville runner slides into second and was tagged in the hand and called safe. A video replay, which was evident and stated by both announcers as the runner being out, was left as the runner being safe. This lead to a 4 run 8th inning, and while Michigan still has bats at the top of the 9th, all but cost Michigan the game.
So yet again, thanks NCAA for screwing us
NEVER trust NCAA officials.
Met Peyton Siva once (he was nice) and had to bring this up. He just chuckled and said I was probably right.
Wow - that's new intel I'd never heard before!
HANG THE BANNER!
I have heard that about him. To his credit.
Especially when Louisville is involved.
too soon.
NCAA still giving Louisville BS calls.
Is this memorialized somewhere on a t-shirt? Still makes me fume.
I'm pretty sure MGoBlog sells a shirt that says "The block was clean and so was the team."
I remember I posted an over the top “joke” conspiracy theory post about this play and the refs, that was clearly meant for The Onion, but everyone took it as a serious post and it immediately got deleted. SMH
how bout you sack up and get the next batter? Or don't walk a guy with two outs in 8th protecting a 2 run lead. instead the give up single and HR. Weak
"Even if we got the out to get out of the inning, we should've done more"
yeah how bout
?
Hard to do that when the umps then squeeze the strike zone. That batter who hit that home run to go up by two should have been struck out.
We need AI to start reffing games because this is fucking insane
This is dead on correct - that batter should have been out on a called strike and never should have had a chance to get to first.
This 1000%. Westin throws strike 3 right down the center of the plate, mid thigh, and it gets called a ball. It was 100% horseshit. Plus the Lville player that hit the double in the 8th could have been rung up on a pitch the hit the corner for strike three also, right before he hit the double. Hard to not feel like the umping crew was determined to give this game to Louisville, at least the guy behind the plate.
how bout you take both your fists and ram them up your ass?
NEITHER of the plays you are referencing would have happened with competent umpiring at home plate, our pitcher Weston made 3rd strike pitches (that were inexplicably called balls) on both those Louisville batters.
With the correct calls, we're still leading 9-7.
Wait you are ok with a team getting 4 outs? You think we win many games when the opposing team is given 4 outs in a crucial inning. GTFO.
*5 outs
I never liked this argument about bad officiating. In a close game, why does one team have to do more? Louisville's pitchers gave up 9 runs. They didn't have to "sack up." They were terrible.
This is my thing, too! At what point do the officials (umpires, refs, whatever) get credit for screwing one team over the other? At what point is it fair to criticize them openly and admit that a horrible call actually affects the game?
I'm sick of the "sack up" posts when a team gets visibly screwed on a bad call that should have been easily overturned. They are pompous, unrealistic, and only meant to start an argument.
Seriously? Give any good teams why will eventually capitalize, so kudos for Louisville for capitalizing on the extra opportunities. It’s like you think it’s Michigan against themselves. So kindly go F yourself sir
#whataboutism
'Sack up.' The expression that really, really self-aware homies employ when they want to show what mooks they are.
I have never downvoted anyone here, but this was the dumbest take I've ever heard on here. Congratulations, you are the first to receive a downvote from me.
how bout you stay away from the phrase "sack up" when you're being a dickhead troll?
He did sack up, but ump continued to screw us. One pitch after an obvious strike out to end the inning came a HR.
Did you actually watch the game? Or just talking out the more intelligent part of your body.
"Andres Galarraga should have beaten the runner to first base by more than he did in order to get the 27th out. Beating him by a half step isn't enough."
Armando
This is the sports version of "well she shouldn't have been dressed like that".
Ump squeezed our pitchers strike zone prior to garbage call at 2nd
No kidding. Umps took the third out away from us twice in that 8th inning
.
3 times really. The guy who hit the doubke to start should have been rung up on strike 3 before he was also thrown out at second all before the HR was hit after another pit h that was clearly strike three. I really hate to blame umps/refs etc... but damn it sure seems like Michigan is never on the right end of these calls.
Yep, struck out the dude who hit the game winner too. Total BS.
Just this season we had the bullshit calls against MSU in football, absolute ref show in the Frozen Four, and now this
if I keep checking this board will I find out this game ended differently and less painfully and not completely out-of-our-hands like the game I just saw?
I'm as pissed as everyone but how about not giving up 11 fucking 2-out runs. Yeah, thats right, Louisville scored all fucking 11 runs with two outs. Thats pathetic.
Most of ours we were 2 outs too. Plus, come on, man. We had the third out TWICE in that inning. At some point, if the umps keep giving Louisville extra at-bats, they're going to score.
THREE TIMES....
1 - Runner TAGGED out at 2nd
2 - next batter walks after a called 3rd strike is missed
3 - next batter does _________ after a 3rd strike is missed....
that's a 6 OUT INNING, most teams will score runs when given that many outs in an inning.....
FIFY.....
They gave up *SEVEN* two-out runs. All in the first inning. They pitched a fantastic game after the first and absolutely deserved to win. Game was absolutely stolen from them no matter what angle you look at it from.
Like it or not...its 11 runs, not 7. Baseball umps are maybe the worst in all of sports, no argument from me on that at all. But they still gave up 11 2-out runs.
Our pitching has been shit most if the year, that came back to bite us in the ass again.
Other than the fact that they reviewed the call that gave them 3 more outs AFTER the missed call. And they reviewed it for a few minutes. It was so obvious he was out some sort of shenanigans were at play here. So, they make the right call there, just the 7. Or the next fucked up call, still 7.
That's a pretty dumb take considering all the extra chances they got in the 8th. It was 7 2-out runs and 4 ump assisted runs.
nope, 7 runs, fucking pay attention.
Lousiville also scored 4 runs with 3 or 4 outs.
Maybe you didn't see that part.
Michigan has idiot fans, too.
(whispering) I'm talking about you.
Also the home plate ump should have called strike three based on previous pitches before the go ahead runs. Whatever it is what it is.
