Mario Ojemudia's Senior Highlight Film

Submitted by kaykaybroke on

Saw this posted on the twitters, and wanted to share with the board-

Mario Ojemudia's Highlight film has been posted... There have been a lot of concerns about his size, but at 6'3, 227 (at the beginning of the video) he seems to have good size for a WDE if he puts on 15-20 lbs.

Stats: 114 tackles(!), 14 sacks, blocked punt,

Enjoy

This was already posted in the recruiting notes thread but it's probably deserving of its own thread for those who didn't see it. Kids a beast

That's unreal. Have we had a recruit that is this tenacious on film as him any time recently? Mike Martin is the only one who would come to mind. Also: see 2:50 for a "wtf? how?" play.

Wow! This is like a completely different guy that we saw in his JR film.... If he can put on 10-15 pounds and maintain that kind of speed, agility, and explosiveness hes going to be a good one, a REALLY good one... very impressed

It's a crime that this kid can't seem to get a ratings boost from the recruiting sites.  It jsut further goes to show that in the end it doesn't matter, because on the field this kid is going to be an animal for us.

Everybody looks good in highlights, but damn those were some great moves and agility.  I wonder if any analysts saw him live or if they've seen his senior film yet.  He looked great and I think he'll most definitely keep that speed with an extra 20 pounds of muscle on him.

The problem he's had is that he is not consistantly playing any position on the Dline.  In addition, most scouts project him as a DE/OLB in college.  While he lines up as a DE often, he moves to the interior of the line often and you never really see him play any stand-up like he would often do as and OLB.  So the reason he isn't getting the ratings is that they feel they just haven't seen him at his projected position enough to adequately rate him.

On a interview I seen on scout he says he wants to be 240 by the time he gets to AA. He also said Mattison will use him as a stand up guy who will blitz from all over.

I haven't watched enough high school football to tell if he is just an absolute beast or if he is getting through guys that are simply not as good as him (probably a combination of both), but man he sure gets off the ball real quick and just gets to the backfield FAST. I cannot wait to see him wreaking havoc in a few years

Wow, the way he uses his hands is incredible. No one has a chance to block him because they cant even get contact. If he can get up to 260 and get some bull rush moves and some others he will be deadly. So excited Harrison is no longer a State pipeline.

Always the last to move on the snap, it was kind of weird to see.  He moves so quick (when he does move) and reads the play really nicely you cant complain.

That being said if he stays on the D-line when he gets here he might get blown up by college lineman if he doesnt get his hand off the ground quicker.  Thats why I think most are projecting him as an OLB/DE hybrid rusher.

Could we see this kid be a game changer in the Alabama game? Mattison will be Blitzing him from every angle...I can't wait!  If he does get to 240 before fall practice, he will most definitely be seeing some playing time against Alabama.  Roll Blue or Die RBOD

Gotta love those hands and the inside move.  I hate seeing clips of these DEs who just do outside speed rushes all day.  Mario's got the speed, but when he bulks up, he's going to have the moves to get through.  Definitely one of the best pickups I think.  I just hope he loses his helmet once or twice so he can give that look from his recruiting photo.

  • he gets around players like they aren't even there, exactly what you want to see in an elite DE
  • manic intensity for the ball
  • great at finding the ball
  • spin move, swim move
  • power: bending a kid over backward on a short yardage play is impressive, even against HS competition
  • stayed in his gap, not fooled by misdirection (lolz they tried to option him on the ZR)
  • follows his pulling tackle right to the ball

This kid definitely plays a situational pass rush role next year.  He'll go right around unsuspecting OT's just like he does here.
