Love that all of the former athletes seem content with how shitty the football program has become.  Sure basketball is at a nice high and hopefully remains that way but the backing of people who've helped create such a shitty football team baffles me.

If anyone has actually closely watched how Les coaches his games, it's a firm no. Actually go through and watch some of his more important recent games. Then couple that with the fact that he's getting top tier talent out of the south and Lousiana. No, just no.

I agree with your assessment of miles, but the next coach doesn't need to be a home run. There's something wrong with this program and it runs deep. We don't need a coach to bring us a nc right now. What we do need is someone to come in and stop the bleeding and start making things right. I think les can be that coach. Given how shitty the big is we would compete every year with him as our coach and maybe even win it a couple of times. Go blue

Miles would be fine. He could coach for 5-7 years and pass the job on to the next up and coming coach or one of his assistants. It would be a huge improvement over Hoke.

DB needs to go! If Miles comes with a different AD, I'd be ok with it...only if we struck out on the Harbaughs.

"For Brady Hoke, I can't remember in my lifetime where the fans of the University of Michigan's football team have been so down on the product they are seeing every Saturday,"

I really wish people would stop refering to the team performance as a "product".  That's the kind of MBA language we need to stop using to describe our non-spiritual religious institution.

I really want Les Miles. He is not only a proven winner in the toughest conference in college football, but he is  consistent winner. Sure, he does not win the SEC every year, but when is the last time LSU was truly irrelevant under Miles?

To further your point -

As a head coach 129-47; (0.733); for an average of 9.5 wins per year

As LSU head coach 106-26; (0.795); for an average of 10.3 wins per year

I mostly like Jalen Rose.  The school he founded is a great way to give back to the Detroit community and he is a good representative for our fine university.  That said dude needs to shut up sometimes he seems to have an opinion on everything.

I'm sure he's a proud alum, but that whole Fab 5 era inda rubbed me the wrong way, especially Rose's and Webber's insistence that they didn't do anything wrong taking money from Martin.  Even though I agree the rules are dumb and other teams do it, they still seem unable to recognize that the rules were broken and they knew about them when they did it.

The fact he wants Miles makes me think he hasn't thought about this too much.

I think everybody is right on point with the talk that Les Miles would be a good fit here, would get the team back to a respectable and competitive level, and while not causing a dropoff in recruiting that most coaching changes bring.

There's one problem though:

Les Miles is 100% not going to come to Michigan while Dave Brandon is the AD.  It won't happen.

Brandon is a control freak and a micro-manager.  Why do you think we have Brady Hoke?  How many other schools in the country have their AD give pressers about the Football team on as regular a basis as Brandon does?  None.

Hoke is a yes-man.  That's why he was an easy hire for Brandon.  He'll do what he's told, he'll say what he's told to say.  Plus most of the administrative decisions with the program are deferred up to Brandon and that's just how he likes it.

Unfortunately, most top tier coaches would tell Brandon to go pound sand if he proposed that type of working arrangement.  Then Brandon flies back here from Baton Rouge and says things like "We can't afford Les Miles."

It's total B.S.

Harbaugh - same thing.  Jim and John would both want to be able to control their own program.  Won't happen while Brandon is the AD.

Want a better coach?  Fire the AD, and hire somebody who wants to be an AD - not the CEO of the Football Team...
