It's official Clay out against Michigan
We all know that he has very good backups, but this certainly can't hurt. One less thing to worry about.
November 19th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
Based on his "back-up's" performance so far this year I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad at this news.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:05 AM ^
Looking at last years 24 to 45 game,
Clay went for 151 yards on 26 att, 1 TD and an average of 5.8 a carry, also
with Montee Ball 62 yards on 16 att, 0TD and average of 309 a carry.
If the O can HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL, Michigan can win this

How about looking at this year's #1 backup instead.
J. White 105/714, 6.8ypc 11 TDS.

You mean in NCAA 2K11 right?
November 19th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
That. Is. Impressive.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:53 AM ^
I don't even think that's possible.
November 19th, 2010 at 10:03 AM ^
Laps.
November 19th, 2010 at 11:42 AM ^
Check the thread on the Ill-NU playing field situation. Maybe they could do that Tecmo Bowl play where the guy ran all the way to the 1, ran back to his own endzone, ran back to the 1, and turned around again, etc. That would be spectacular (if it wasn't being done against my beloved Wolverines, I mean).
November 19th, 2010 at 8:57 AM ^
Well like the OP said, it helps because Clay is a tank. But yes, his backups are very good RBs too. Either way, this definitely doesn't hurt our chances at winning tomorrow.
November 19th, 2010 at 8:59 AM ^
With the way we tackle I would rather see the smaller, fast runningbacks than a 250+ guy who is kinda fast as well.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
I guess that is cool? They have proved they can move the ball without him. Now if half or more of the line was out, then there would be something to raise an eyebrow about. I see the starting center will see "playing time". I don't know what that means. As a former center, switching back and forth between QBs and Cs was a dangerous thing to do. But these guys are D-I, so maybe not for them. Regardless, I hope this situation worls out for Mark Martin.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:03 AM ^
I'd rather see Clay than White and maybe even Ball.
Those other two are just more explosive.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
I honestly think James White is a better back although he's not a bruiser like Clay is, so Michigan's LBs are probably happy with this. White is just so much faster and elusive though.

They better be worried about Denard I have a feeling he his gonna come out with a vengeance to make up for last saturday!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:04 AM ^
the air. Sound the sirens.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:50 AM ^
I heard Wisconsin was trying to sneak a sprinkler system into the stadium to slow down Denard. Nothing else will work.
November 19th, 2010 at 11:08 AM ^
they should be sued for trespassing and destruction to property. Second, we don't want any wet balls tomorrow.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:04 AM ^
on any football player... but I'm glad that he's not playing. Now we just have to worry about Toon & White.
GO BLUE!!!!!!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:20 AM ^
as I am about the RB pair. Toon has been hampered with an injury all year. He's only seen a few targets a game. He's still putting up 11 yds each though, so still good to watch out for him. Lance Kendricks is one of the guyd we'll need to look out for. He's been averaging 15 yds/reception.
I'm looking for the D to step it up and stop the run as Wisconsin has been dominant on the ground.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:11 AM ^
No matter what back(s) they put on the field, they're going to be able to run all over us.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^

Magnus, sir, you are like an ice-cold shower on a cold Winter morning. My extremities are already cold, why the need to chill to the bone?
November 19th, 2010 at 9:17 AM ^
Every little bit helps. Now if we can get Mouton, Martin and Lewan to be 100 percent healthy.
November 19th, 2010 at 9:21 AM ^
"Official Clay Out"? Kinda sounds like everyone is supposed to wear clay colored clothing. Penn State and their white out has nothing on us!
November 19th, 2010 at 9:21 AM ^
Montee Ball is going to rush for 100 yards in 3 straight games?
November 19th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^

That's also the injury report according to the MGoBlog front page.

Oops, didn't see that, I have the forum bookmarked so I usually don't see the front page. I wonder what other magical things I miss out on by not seeing the front page.

There was a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie review. Sucks that you missed it.

Everyone dies.
November 19th, 2010 at 11:18 AM ^
Or do they? ...
November 19th, 2010 at 12:12 PM ^
Damnit. I must have missed it too! Does Harry get laid? I mean, he's a freaking celebrity in the wizard world. What's a guy have to do to get some action?
November 19th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
IMO are better than clay. They add speed along with Ball's size. They have both averaged more YPC than Clay. Clay is avg 5.4, White 6.8 and Ball 5.6. While I agree that Clay's size is definitely a factor I am glad we don't have to deal with we are not out of the woods yet. The good news is that besides the Purdue stats they haven't done well on the road with White and Ball. We need to have a high intesity crowd the whole game!
November 19th, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
but Clay being out is very good. He's a unique back that our young defense hasn't been exposed to. He's a back that you'd consider switching up scheme and personnel for, e.g., putting Cam back at FS because you aren't certain Vinopal could adequately fill on the run against Clay.
While the backups are good, they aren't anything we haven't seen already. At least we can keep our scheme and some continuity and hopefully build off our recent improvements. Also, a veteran All-B10 player is kept off the field. There's no downside. Clay being in there wouldn't have kept the other backs off the field. They now just have fewer options.
November 19th, 2010 at 10:06 AM ^
Going to be alot of Off tackle plays, cut backs, and Screen passes to the RB's now !
I was hoping clay was going to play

I hate badger fans
November 19th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
Never like to see anyone injured but I don't see how this can be anything other than good for M. What now if White gets banged up, Wiscy will be hurting, as M fans, we have seen plenty of instances in the last couple years, with multiple running backs getting hurt and missing games. "Oh if Minor and Brown were healthy", I heard that a few times, and their injuries really did hurt M's chances of winning.
November 19th, 2010 at 11:54 AM ^
Clay is good, but with the OLine Wiscy has it doesn't really matter who is at RB. I will say I'd rather have him out.
