Check the thread on the Ill-NU playing field situation.  Maybe they could do that Tecmo Bowl play where the guy ran all the way to the 1, ran back to his own endzone, ran back to the 1, and turned around again, etc.  That would be spectacular (if it wasn't being done against my beloved Wolverines, I mean).

Well like the OP said, it helps because Clay is a tank. But yes, his backups are very good RBs too. Either way, this definitely doesn't hurt our chances at winning tomorrow.

I guess that is cool? They have proved they can move the ball without him. Now if half or more of the line was out, then there would be something to raise an eyebrow about. I see the starting center will see "playing time". I don't know what that means. As a former center, switching back and forth between QBs and Cs was a dangerous thing to do. But these guys are D-I, so maybe not for them. Regardless, I hope this situation worls out for Mark Martin.

I honestly think James White is a better back although he's not a bruiser like Clay is, so Michigan's LBs are probably happy with this. White is just so much faster and elusive though.

as I am about the RB pair.  Toon has been hampered with an injury all year.  He's only seen a few targets a game.  He's still putting up 11 yds each though, so still good to watch out for him.  Lance Kendricks is one of the guyd we'll need to look out for.  He's been averaging 15 yds/reception.

I'm looking for the D to step it up and stop the run as Wisconsin has been dominant on the ground.

IMO are better than clay. They add speed along with Ball's size. They have both averaged more YPC than Clay. Clay is avg 5.4, White 6.8 and Ball 5.6. While I agree that Clay's size is definitely a factor I am glad we don't have to deal with we are not out of the woods yet. The good news is that besides the Purdue stats they haven't done well on the road with White and Ball. We need to have a high intesity crowd the whole game!

but Clay being out is very good.  He's a unique back that our young defense hasn't been exposed to.  He's a back that you'd consider switching up scheme and personnel for, e.g., putting Cam back at FS because you aren't certain Vinopal could adequately fill on the run against Clay.

While the backups are good, they aren't anything we haven't seen already.  At least we can keep our scheme and some continuity and hopefully build off our recent improvements.  Also, a veteran All-B10 player is kept off the field.  There's no downside.  Clay being in there wouldn't have kept the other backs off the field.  They now just have fewer options.

Never like to see anyone injured but I don't see how this can be anything other than good for M. What now if White gets banged up, Wiscy will be hurting, as M fans, we have seen plenty of instances in the last couple years, with multiple running backs getting hurt and missing games. "Oh if Minor and Brown were healthy", I heard that a few times, and their injuries really did hurt M's chances of winning.
