BRANDON RECALLED.
If anything, Hoke's statement is more of a slight against the FANs because it could be taken to imply that they don't provide any advantage.
I'm not a fan of two in a row either (mainly because all-or-nothing home schedules seem incredibly dumb) but the conference did have MSU play in Ann Arbor four times in a row the last time the schedule was unbalanced. Trying to look at it in a fifty or hundred year timeline it makes sense, if you accept that they should move the game at all.
But we could look at this as an opportunity. Can you imagine the psychological blow it would deal to Sparty Nation, from Dantonio on down to the lowest mouth breather on the RCMB, if we go into East Lansing two years in a row and beat them? All illusions surrounding the competency of Dantonio's program would be shattered permanently. Imagine, by November of 2014, Dantonio's record against Michigan could collapse from a stellar 4-1 to a humbling 4-4 and 2-3 at Spartan Stadium. East Lansing would self-combust.
Now, it's a tall order, but I think Hoke and Co. have built the team to do the job.
Then again I'm not as bullish on MSU as it seems a lot of posters are. Then again again, I know nothing.
Oh, I'm with you. Winning in EL this season is going to be a challenge. That Spartan defense is good and their offense probably can't get any worse. Still, if they stub their toe against us this season, they could be looking at another long losing streak in the years ahead. This is going to be Dantonio's best chance to make some hay in the conference, probably for the remainder of his career at MSU. If they blow it, the coaches seat temperature is going to start going up.
This will be the most even match-up of the two years. Next year is when the program really starts rolling: DG will be a RS Sr (probably), all those OL are becoming sound starters, all that defensive talent will start really meshing. Hell, who even knows how much longer Narduzzi is going to be around?
If MSU doesn't win this year, they're probably going to lose both games
I think it's currently 4-2 because he lost to Lloyd Carr, Mike Hart, Chad Henne, et al.
According to Wikipedia, the Michigan-MSU game has alternated sites every year since 1967-68, when it was in Ann Arbor twice in a row.
I don't even care that much about being in East Lansing two years in a row. To me, it's a bigger deal that we won't have either MSU or Ohio at home in even years.
It was four times in a row in Ann Arbor in the late 1950's. The last sentence about it making sense on a 50-100 year timeline is even more true in that case.
I'm with you about the new schedule, but I can definitely see the reasoning for the Big Ten making it EL two years in a row as opposed to Ann Arbor.
STAEE hates Michigan so much that they are already supremely motivated. Even when Michigan was winning ten games a season and STAEE was winning between three and seven, STAEE still won three games out of every ten. They always get the most out of their "talent" when they play Michigan, and I don't expect this year to be any exception.
STAEE's hatred of Michigan is so strong that another quote or two won't mean anything. Their hatred and the near super-human effort it provides them is worth 10 points a game. Michigan just has to be at least 11 points better.
I'm motivated by them being motivated by this!!!
I don't think Dantonio and Hollis really understand the meaning of the phrase "Bulletin Board Material", but Sparty being Sparty, that doesn't particularly surprise me.
Well, this is awkward.
False analogy. This would be "awkward" if the situation here was hypocritical, but it is not. Mork's words are a promise to beat Michigan. Hoke's words are a promise to... play? Brandon's words are a promise that Michigan will 'play well,' at best. One of these things is not like the other
Ya I gotcha and agree the OP quotes were weak.
late to this party and certainly missed the fact that we were playing 2x's in a row up there. I noticed that 2015/2016 there's not two home games for us, what was the reason for the two consecutive games in EL?
The short answer is Rutgers and Maryland.
The new divisions take hold in 2014 and all teams were set up from thereon out, but everything until 2014 was left to play out as it has already been scheduled. They came to AA last year and we just happened to be going to EL this year so this is how the 2013/2014 years happened to play out.
Struggling to stay relevant since the 1950s
laying in the weeds
Apparently too stupid to link an image, even though I have done it before.
but it makes me laugh how bad that looks. A word doc with a little .gif of Brady and Dave. Looks like something a high school kid would do. Just terrible.
And then you see the picture in the above post and of our weight room with some words from Dantonio and it looks good, professional and not cheaply made.
**I think my marketing background is playing a factor in this**

"Based on this video alone, Michigan State is out of the running. Your school seems awful and your girls are annoying."
-Daniel Tosh
He had some contest for him to do a show at a college campus. Sparty made a very sparty-esque video, sent it in, and he destroyed them with the above comment. It still makes me laugh.
Tosh.0
given that Tosh is the Michigan State of TV comedians.
...perhaps Hoke's quote is motivation for them to try to change the field dimensions instead. "We'll show him 100 yards...!!!"
We already know they have displayed the ability to stop time up there. Let's not tempt the laws of physics any further.
Michigan is still going to beat their ass up there to make it 3 straight. Burying their program back where it belongs.
getting signs ON the wall. You're going to need an inter, two hours, and a whole lot of goo gone getting it down
after the Michigan loss.
Question: do you leave it up for 2014 if you get pantsed in 13?
After the last of the Bulloughs matriculate through the MSU program and before they begin to reproduce and send their sons to MSU will be what? --- about 20-25 years? A period when M should be assured of continuous victories.
What's always been funny to me about State is that they were incensed with being referred to as "little brother," but you could argue that since those comments Sparty has never acted more like "little brother." Guess what Sparty? No one considers you their biggest rival. You will never have a program like Notre Dame or Ohio or, most importantly, Michigan. Next season is your last legitimate chance to sniff a Rose Bowl and I will gleefully cackle as Michigan beats you on your own field. Use that quote for motivation bitches!!
