They are guaranteed a spot on the roster, but we have too many PWOs over 5 classes for them all to be guaranteed spots on the initial fall camp roster. Once classes start, there is no more105 man limit and all the walk ons can join the team.

So Reynolds is paying out of state tuition. Seems like most PWOs are in state. Guessing the out of state PWOs families don't have money constraints. Also, I have no idea of the academic standing of PWOs. I would imagine if a player was border line academically, and had Harbaugh's seal of approval as a PWO then in may be easier to gain admission. Hunter may be very smart. I'm talking about the fact that it may be more lenient in general for PWOs.

Great pick up... I really see potential in this dude... these pwo's are more highly skilled than past years... it's crazy when you get excited about walk on's too... guess that's because I'm a fanatic lol #GoBlue

You are right about that. Michigan is not Iowa. I think this kid is a gamer. There is probably a better chance of him transferring than getting a scolly, but I'm betting on him to beat the scouts/rankings. I understand the 2015 class was put together on the fly, but all those kids had stars and there is definitely some misses in there.

I'll do a post after National Signing Day with some brief thoughts on all, as well as some longer thoughts on the guys I think are most likely to contribute. The truth is that a lot of these preferred walk-ons (and student body walk-ons) will disappear within a couple years. So I don't spend a ton of time on the subject, but it's interesting to look at them nonetheless.

Fullback and linebacker are the easiest. Those are positions where mediocre athletes who have tough mentalities can find their way onto the field.

Safety and tight end are probably next.

Then you have OL/DL.

And least likely are the true skill guys (CB, WR, RB, QB), because those positions are somewhat easier to evaluate. And every level wants speedy cornerbacks, so if you want to play ball, an FCS or D-II team is going to come calling if you have the skills to play CB.

for the couch burners, maybe even Wisky. He has definitely passed on other scholarships for other schools, to come to Michigan and a chanice for a free ride. This says two things about him for sure. He is confident and smart, good luck to him and maybe he will even see the field.

I wonder if this commitment is related to Melifonwu sticking with Syracuse(not getting a UM offer). I wonder if the staff maybe thought if they can get this kid for free(not use a scholarship) and he's 80% as good as Melifonwu, they should do it. Regardless, great pickup.

of PWO talent.  Gotta love the amount of talent coming in this year's class,  and the amount of talent willing to compete for Michigan football without a scholarship.  Think this is a reflection of both the value of a Michigan degree,  and the great coaching staff we have.  These players know they will be coached by a great staff.
