Of note is that Speight never showed up in the top 50 for any week while Lewerke is typically in the top 25. Should be a good game this Saturday.

The 3-3-5 scheme that we've used so far for spread-type teams allows the OL to pick their poison in terms of double teams. I would expect that to change when we play teams like MSU and Wisconsin. Mone will play meaningful minutes in a 4-3 scheme and Gary would be more disruptive as a traditional defensive end.

Receiving is not limited to wide receivers. We also have a lot of receiving talent in the tight end group whom I believe are being underutilized so far.

Agree with MichiganMan14 on this one - the play blew up because the OSU middle linebacker blew by Cole. If you watch the video slowly, you would observe that at handoff, the MLB is already flowing downhill. Higdon takes a couple of steps following his lead blocker to the right and is tackled by the MLB who blew by Cole. Higdon simply did not have time to react to the blown assignment by Cole.

"It wasn't clear to the officers (Wednesday morning) if there was an assault, or who the aggressor was. Subsequent investigation led to a misdemeanor assault charge against Lewis."
We'll have to wait for the details of the case to come out but it was not a "clear-cut" case to officers who arrived at the scene. Either way, players should avoid situations where there might be an appearance of assault as they have a target sign on them.

Go check out the freshmen admission profiles:
Michigan (mid 50% range) : ACT (30-34), Avg GPA: 3.987
MSU (mid 50% range) : ACT (24-28), GPA(3.4-3.9)
The bottomline is that 75% of MSU students would not get into Michigan with the true percentage closer to 90-95%.

Really good pickup. A NJ transplant who prepped in Connecticut. I suspect he'll be on scholarship when all is said and done.

Syracuse most likely forced his hand as Michigan was waiting to see the "final" numbers before extending an offer. That is too bad as Ifeatu will be a stud in the future, much better than his 2-star ranking.

|01/10/2017 - 9:07am||Interesting as well that||
Interesting as well that Clemson won without a rushing game. Alabama's defensive line and linebackers were incredibly fast but the key to the victory IMO was DeShaun Watson getting off his passes quickly.
Thinking back to the Orange Bowl, we failed to adjust to FSU's DL attack - still ran play action when the DL was in Speight's face before he had a chance to turn around.
|01/09/2017 - 4:34pm||Just curious as to why Pep||
Just curious as to why Pep Hamilton would take the Michigan job. Wouldn't the "Passing Coordinator" position be a step down from an NFL Offensive Coordinator/Associate Head Coach? Could we also afford his salary as Don Brown & Drevno are now in the million dollar plus club!

Could be something very simple:
Tua: "What time is your flight?"
Najee: "9am what time is yours?"
Tua: "9am as well, wow we are on the same flight?"
They might both be on the same flight from San Antonio to Atlanta and take different connecting flights to Birmingham vs Oakland. Tua would technically be telling the truth but the Alabama 247 guy then blows it out of proportion.

The Irony would be if Washington loses and the final four becomes Alabama, OSU, Clemson, Michigan. Michigan beats Alabama while Ohio State beats Clemson. The Championship game would then be Michigan vs OSU - neutral field, neutral refs, bright lights, etc. I can only dream!
|11/30/2016 - 8:43am||My prediction is that||
My prediction is that Colorado will beat Washington but Wisconsin will thump Penn State leading to a final four of Alabama, OSU, Clemson, Wisconsin. I just don't see how Penn State can beat Wisconsin but Michigan will be the four seed if Penn State somehow manages to squeak by Wisconsin and Colorado beats Washington.
|02/03/2016 - 8:07pm||No doubt about it. As Hackett||
No doubt about it. As Hackett noted, Clem$on was most likely offering "incentives" through his uncle who lives close to the Clemson campus. Rashan was thus torn between his family who were pushing Clemson and his coaches/friends who were pushing Michigan. Tough position for a young man to be in but glad he made the right choice as the NFL money will come in due time.

Glad we picked this kid up instead of waiting for Cassius Winston to decide. He's got clutch written over him, has ice running through his veins and is a great defender. Michigan will make the final four before Xavier graduates from Michigan.

Dwumfour is of Ghanaian origin, Mbem-Bosse - Cameroonian, Uche and Onwenu - Nigerian, Darboh - Sierra Leone and Chesson - Liberia. All have roots in West Africa.

|01/21/2016 - 11:58am||Michigan's Side of Things||
Michigan's Side of Things is thus:
1) Asked to camp over the summer but refused.
2) Told in fall that offer was contingent on performance.
3) Reviewed senior film (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1601282/highlights/303048382/v2) and found it underwhelming.
4) Told in December to take other official visits but refused.
My take is that Erik really wanted to Go Blue and refused to heed the warnings or demonstrate to the coaches that he wanted to compete in a Harbaugh-like environment. He would have been an ideal fit for Hoke, i.e. kids that peak early and earn early accolades only to be a bust in college.

Other conferences do not have the 28 cap and can technically oversign, just have to "trim" scholarship roster to 85 by fall camp. The only way I see Michigan going over 28 is through grayshirts or delaying the enrollment. Either way, it is still murky waters.

Great to have your son onboard. Saw you and him with other recruits at the spring game - thought he was built like a truck. I was hoping that he would commit to Michigan and excited that he did. I also agree with you that he is under-rated and will surprise a lot of people!

I don't think they'll take Toks Akinribade now as the second back will be more of a speed back.
|04/06/2015 - 11:10am||Can someone give a lazy man a list of his other offers?||
Why are people so stuck on offer sheet. Derrick Green had a 5-star offer sheet but has not panned out yet. The current UM staff has a dedicated group of recruiting personnel that actually evaluate recruits instead of going off other team's or Scout/ Rivals/247 assessment. Kingston Davis is not a speed back but a bruising running back who will fit Harbaugh's scheme well and surprise a lot of people.

Irrespective of who is the primary backup for this year, my gut feeling is that most of Hoke's QBs will transfer. My predictions for starting QB, Rudock - 2015, O'Korn 2016/17, Gentry or somebody else 2018 & beyond. Don't sleep on O'Korn!
|04/01/2015 - 1:36pm||This most likely means that||
This most likely means that both Morris and Speight will transfer at some point with O'Korn, Malzone and Gentry battling it out in 2016.
|03/30/2015 - 3:16pm||"Harbaugh has one with QB's||
"Harbaugh has one with QB's and the success he had in the nfl as a player and coach, you would think they would flock to UM."
Picking a school goes beyond the coach. Besides academics, recent success and geographical proximity, a key consideration is the depth chart. A 2016 QB would see Morris, Speight, Malzone, Gentry and O'Korn ahead of him. If Gentry pans out as expected, that would mean waiting until your senior year to compete for the job with most likely 3-4 other junior/sophomore/freshman QBs. I believe that Harbaugh will get an elite QB every other year but not neccesarily every year.
