To have much more fire and direction to qb's than the former coach. Again, I love the intensity, sounds like both qb's have some bad habits to break...his attention to fine details just in that 3 minute segment seems extraordinary, great coaching.

Maybe because he was yelling a lot recently but his voice seems really scratchy and reminds me of some celebrity but I can't place it.

Anyhow I am not going evaluate a guy on words - most coaches can talk great.  Let's see better footwork, better accuracy, better decision making, better presnap reads, etc from the QBs and a cogent offense and that is the proof I will need.  I do support the move in terms of even if they are equal coaches Nuss seems a lot more relatable to 16/17 yr old kids than Borges appeared to be, so that should help out on the recruiting trail.

Every level, you'll find coaches telling their QBs "not to take the sack". And then they'll get that hammered into their heads, and they'll yell at them "work the pocket, let the play develop!" It's a fine balance that is consistently being taught to QBs.

I do like what he said to Devin about the sack.  Fergodsakes no more 20 yard dancing backwards in circles thingies.  It worked very early last year when no one had seen it before but after that it was a very bad thing.  Throw it out of bounds, and get to 2nd and 10 or fall forward for 2nd and 9 if need be.

Ever played a sport a competitive level. This is a typical "real" nuts and bolts type of coach. Could Borgess of really been that bad "yes" he must not of ever raised his voice once and never showed these kids how to be a competitor or to compete and to suck it up. Lets go Hoke and Comp this could be a special year.

from Nuss!!! I think that he's gonna be a great coach here and that the qb's are going to receive a great education in the game. With that said, the few plays that show the O-line, were unsettling. How does someone get into the backfield that quickly to sack Gardner??? I heard Nuss preach dumping it off, but why is the defender there in the first place? Also, other than the last-run, the o-line doesn't look like it's improved much at all from last year albeit this is an extremely small sample size.

Of Nuss tells you he's a quality coach but the other three, two of which have National Championship rings, produced many NFL players, an undefeated year and is at least at star level recruiting to our previous or better norms aren't because of two mediocre years with incredible youth? You my friend are silly.

what tells me that is two years where we show absolutely no signs of development, two years of where we consistently get worse as the year goes on, and a bowl game where the staff is inexplicably unable to get the team to even show up, much less play hard. that's what tells me that those other three are not just non-quality coaches, but that they are extremely over their heads and are MAC coaches at best.

Yeah, Greg Mattison is totally out of his element, brah! HIGH FIVE!

possibly be that the linemen, for these kinds of drills, are told to back off?  Sort of like when the RB runs through the line and the defenders just slap him a bit.  These drills that we watched aren't for the OL and defense, they are for working the QB.  In the crawl, walk, run stages of learning, they were practicing the walk stage.  No reason to unnecessarily jeapordize the health of players when you're just trying to work out some issues.

Speaking of blown assignments, I believe I have given you  few assignments on, well, not being this way and you insist on it all the same. I have difficulty believing that someone who is so incredibly down on everything and has a history of bringing up coaching-related topics in threads which do not call for them specifically to provoke a reply wants to do anything except troll. Your behavior in this thread does not inspire confidence that you're taking these warnings seriously.

As for what you're saying here, inductive reasoning is apparently not a strength for you, because here and in a couple other posts in this thread, you make some rather hasty generalizations based on a statistically insufficient sample of plays from the three-minute video.

I acknowledge in other posts that the clips provided present an extremely small sample size. I understand that pretty much all of this board thinks I'm an idiot but as a Michigan alum I do realize that one or two sample plays does not equate the true identity of a team and specifically this offense. I do understand.

However all I'm saying is that based on the few clips we have been provided this off season coupled with last year's performance has not made me optimistic regarding this year's team. I'm in no way saying that we can't and won't be better this year. I'm simply stating I'm very pessimistic about this year' steam from everything we've SEEN so far,

I do understand.
And yet you insist on trolling all day, every day. This makes your behavior WORSE, not better. Of course, I'm not even convinced you're connected to the University of Michigan at all.

He'll show you his diploma. He already offered to do so for me. Unless he shows me his diploma, next to two forms of ID, with his grandma there for verification, while he is actually receiving his diploma from president Obama, I'm not believing him

get President Obama to give it to me...he was a little busy, and the year he presented was the year before I graduated, however, I hope this at least satisfies you a little bit.

P.S. so I'm having trouble figuring out how to post the picture from my desktop. any help would be greatly appreciated.

A recent grad and you can't post a pic? That is a grin.

Regardless; by itself, the fact that you have a degree from Michigan doesn't say a lot about your character.

This fellow graduated from Michigan.

This fellow did not:

You do realize that there are plenty of people on this board who have coached and even PLAYED college football? Some may also have the privilege to watch Michigan practice every now and then. In my own opinion, you are obviously neither and you sound like an uninformed, whiney turd.

Clark went around him, but you can't expect Braden to win every one of those battles.  Devin still had ~3 secs to make a throw and he didn't; he's got to get rid of the ball quicker.  The OL is still young and we are not going to be a team where the QB can just sit back, have s'mores around a campfire, and casually throw to his 5th option.  I don't think Nuss is happy with the protection on that play (unless it was intended), but he wants Devin to speed up his progression, too.

alum96

I am hoping Clark is beating Braden on a relatively regular basis.  One is a senior DE who in theory should be toying with a guy who has exactly 0 plays under his belt at the college game.  Right now Braden is a starter based on practices and his primary backup seems to be our starting center.  So Braden is no sure thing.  I'd expect Clark to be doing very well against him in general.  Just like I'd expect Schofield to be very consistent in neutralizing Clark in the same video 12 months ago.

Of course, I suppose it is possible that Nussmeier doesn't know a good run from a bad one. I will give you the fact that you couldn't see it.

You really do need to up your game.

Nuss is at practice in a big field, with a bunch of guys running around and other position groups practicing. How else is he going to make his teaching points heard?

I loved what I saw about not taking the sack. He ask Devin what he should do in that situation and once he gets the answer he lays into him a little bit to drive home the point! No more sacks and neg yard plays is a big focus for this team.

the offense certainly could improve but outside of the fire and experience that Nuss brings, I don't see anything to really bolster my expectations of a season similar to that of last year. The countdown yestererday, the one that focused on Hoke, was extremely uninspiring.

I will certainly lower my expectations for this team if I see something in a hype video that doesn't pass the eye test. What I refuse to do is raise my expectations solely because of what occurs in a hype video does pass that test.

I reference you to the Penn State game I believe it was when we went 27 for 27. Green had a run that went for 15 yards. If we see only that run, does that mean we had a great running game because there was one decent run? No! That's the mindset I go into these videos with.
