Why? Because Oregon players are from Arizona?  I think its actually going to help Sparty.

Oregon has one of the bottom 5 time of possession in the country; they play like Indiana.  So like Indiana their defense is on the field much of the game, last year 35+ minutes a game.  Oregon's defense is nothing special and they are going to be wearing down big time in the 3rd/4th quarters so I dont think its as easy as saying Sparty wears down under heat when neither team is from the South and MSU's offense will be on the field longer than Oregon's, potentially by 10 minutes.

I've tried to do the "Go Big Ten" thing... But every time Osu or Sparty lose I get a huge smile on my face. I hope both OSU and Mich St. lose today. Badly. Like 50-0 badly.

So I've been in a pick 'em league for the last four years and the guy who organizes it announced this was he last year he had time to run the league. I'm hoping the MGoBlog community will be interested in the league that I've come to love. It's pretty simple...

-Pick 7 games every week from BCS conferences plus AAC, MAC, and MWC
-You can only pick each team once, each game is worth one point
-Conference championship game is worth two points

It's an exciting league, gives you 7 games to care about every week.

Anyone telling themselves it's in our best interests for Sparty to win is kidding themselves. They are a budding elite program in our conference and our state. We have to compete with them in a lot of ways.

As for helping our playoff chances? C'mon, I'm as big a booster as anyone in terms of what  this staff is doing but we aren't a top four or top ten team. And if by some chance we are, the selection won't hinge on a single, long since forgotten game.

Ohio and Sparty losing at anything >>>>>>>>> B1G reputation among TV talking heads.

Agreed.  The Big Ten footprint is beyond "one big win" in regards to getting back in the national picture as a top conference.  We need big postseasons.  Yes, Sparty winning today would be a start but it's damn hard to root for the Big Ten's interests and cheer for Sparty rather than hoping to see them get blown out, out West.

Guy put up 300 yds+ on OSU and Stanford in high stake games.  So he is getting national recognition.  If he does well today even in a losing effort he will get even more.

And for those who go by NFL standards Cook is being mocked as a late first round pick to mid 2nd by 3 different sites. (WalterFootball, CBS, etc)  I dont see him in Kiper's first round - that is all they show as free but he is right now thought of very highly.  I do think he gets a lot of INTs dropped but it is what it is.  He is the prototypical size for a NFL QB now and is not a statue...   after Mariota and Winston the next group includes Cook. I honestly think Cook is a pretty damn good QB. I know he doesn't get the love around here (duh!) and I don't like admitting it but I think the kid is pretty good. Top 5? Maybe and probably not. Top 10 I don't think is too big a stretch, in my opinion.

I am conflicted about Akron and PSU. I want the B1G to look strong, but I was also really impressed with how they played last year against Michigan and I respect their coaches.

I think it's time for Corso to retire. His motor skills are done, I hate watching him stumble over simple words.Bring him on at the end of the show so he can do his head gear pick and that's it.
