Charles Matthews already projected 1st rounder in '18 Draft

I agree. I'm very excited about the fure of this team next year. I hope X is working on his alley oop game. Mo, DJ and Matthews should be Phi Slamma Jamma next year. Duncan should be open for 3's

Thanks, caught me up real quick.

No problem. There was a board discussion about it last week, I'm sure you could dig up if you're interested

That UK would let this guy go if he is that good. Then again, they don't usually play around with guys that take time to develop.
Gotta make room for the next bunch of 5* recruits.

I met Charles through a couple of football players a couple of months ago. They said he was Charles from the basketball team. I had no idea who he was. Either never heard about him or forgot. Another nice & quiet guy, hopefully a beast on the court.

I wonder if McGarry is friends with Ruddock.

Robinson was like #11 nationally by the end of his senior year and very early on his freshman year was projected as a top 10-15 pick.
February 17th, 2017 at 2:36 PM ^
not sure if I'd quite say he was "expected" to be a one and done, but it was a possibility before he was done with HS, and he had a tough decision to make to come back.

Be a huge upgrade over Irvin. With X looking like he could make a huge leap next year and with Duncan and Ali coming back the team should be very good. I also think incoming freshmen Eli Brooks will be in the mix. I know he's the lowest rated guy in the class but in Pennsylvania many think he's comparable to former Syrcause and Pennsylvania native Gerry McNamara but more athletic and with better defense. Villanova really wanted Brooks and they seem to be the best at finding multifaceted elite guards.

No sign of Wagner anywhere on that list. Not sure how they can't see the potential in a 6'10 guy with an inside outside game that plays his ass off but that's fine with me. 2 more years of Mo would be outstanding.
February 17th, 2017 at 2:37 PM ^
For Mo with scouts is he doesn't have an "elite" perimeter game yet as a streatch 4 (i.e. Frank Kaminsky) and obviously he's not big enough to bang as a traditional 4 or 5 in the NBA. The guy needs to put on 20 pounds and better develop his shot if he wants 1st round to upper 2nd round consideration.

Haha that was the thread that got me to stop lurking and make an account. There was too much fun to not get involved in that discussion.

Meh I'm still not a big fan of Camp Sanderson. You can put on a bunch of muscle quickly, but usually there's a downside because certain things get neglected.
Obviously injuries have a ton to do with luck, but it's hard to ignore the insane amount of injuries Beilein teams have had. Yes I also know hindsight is 20/20.

Congenital as in a defect from birth? I can't prove my theory, but neither can you.
I just find it odd that McGary and Irvin had serious back problems. Spike had very serious hip problems. Those just aren't normal injuries that happen to guys, especially athletes, in the peak of their physical prime. All of these guys on one team, and something doesn't add up. Usually corner cutting (poor form, building prominent muscles but neglecting others causing stress on weaker stabilizing muscles, etc...) is at the root of this. I do, however, think Caris just had a string of bad luck.
Just speculating though. I could be very wrong.

Runs in Spike's family: "Spike Albrecht also had the surgery because he didn't want to one day end up like Chuck, who at age 55 hopes to soon undergo double hip replacement, just as his father did before him."

He's doing a great job shooting the ball. Just above 42% from long range with a lot of attempts this year. What he needs to work on is defense and staying on the floor (staying out of foul trouble).
February 17th, 2017 at 2:33 PM ^
X, MAAR, Matthews, Wilson, Wagner. They can even run sets where MAAR plays point and Poole plays the 2.
It really comes down to X and MAAR next year to see if they can excel in the backcourt.
February 17th, 2017 at 2:38 PM ^
This team gets pretty long with a Mo, DJ, Matthews, Robinson, MAAR lineup. Could be a disruptive 1-3-1 zone team.

Maybe something like this rolling into 17/18
1: X, Brooks
2: MAAR, Poole
3: Matthews, Robinson, Watson
4: DJ, Robinson, Livers
5: Wagner, Teske, Davis

So the practice reports are true...and they aren't true?
February 17th, 2017 at 3:36 PM ^
wouldn't it be Chapman? Wasn't he the one who was getting all sorts of practice hype a few years and when the next season rolled around, we were all wondering why there was so much hype the prior year?
February 17th, 2017 at 5:59 PM ^
Remember how great the practice hype was on Donnal?
I'm glad I saw his 4 minute Kentucky highlight film posted by Skiptoomylou22. That makes me feel a whole lot better.

Funny how a month ago ,,,,,,,many many mbloggers had beilein having a final dinner at the gandy dancer and then sending him on the next train from the depot. I guess the bandwagon is starting to fill up again. Go Blue.

NBADraft.net is the Bleacher Report of NBA draft scouting. They basically live off of the fact that they got a great domain name. Their projections from multiple years out are rediculous sometimes. DraftExpress is the website to go to! They have great content.
Looking forward to Charles though!
February 17th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
nbadraft.net is hot garbage. At least Bleacher Report has made an effort to invest in writers to produce better content. A monkey randomly picking names out of hat could come up with a better mock draft than the stuff posted on nbadraft.net.
