CFP Updated Standings

Well with Minnesota moving in at #25 Brady can point to 4 losses to top 25 teams! #MoralVictories

I had all these predicted correct except Oregon over FSU - TCU at #4 passing Bama as TCU's win over KSU was better than Alabama's over LSU.  Also lets committee not look so SEC centric.  Then Bama can pass TCU next week with a win over Miss State.  Question would be how far they'd drop one loss Miss State - behind TCU or no? I think not... if its a close loss.

Oregon as #2, nice - putting a 1 loss team over a 0 loss in seeding!   Punish FSU for looking like slackers every week.  Sends a good message.  OU with a very convincing win at a quality Utah squad.

Baylor fans are going to be incensed that they beat TCU head to head but are behind them - but I think TCU has done more as well. Baylor's OOC is putrid.  So far I like this committee.

  1. Miss State
  2. Oregon
  3. FSU
  4. TCU
  5. Bama
  6. ASU
  7. Baylor
  8. OSU
  9. Auburn
  10. Ole Miss
  11. UCLA
  12. MSU
  13. KSU
  14. Arizona
  15. Georgia
  16. Nebraska
  17. LSU
  18. Notre Dame
  19. Clemson
  20. Wisconsin
  21. Duke
  22. GA Tech
  23. Utah
  24. Texas A&M
  25. Minnesota

They struggled mightily against a very good PSU defense. Sure they demolished MSU, but so did Oregon so I think MSU just isn't nearly as good defensively as they were last year. Wisconsin's biggest question mark is their QB. If Stave is finally getting over his yips, then if they can get to the championship game they will give OSU a run for their money for sure.

I don't. When the didn't go through with games on campus and decided that conference championships didn't mean anything I stopped caring. The whole thing is set up to favor the SEC with more bids than anyone else and playing all the games in their region.

I can't argue with dropping FSU below Oregon, but man it's weird to see the poll trying to be logical instead of warped insane person AP voter logic we've been raised with.

Ah, it kills me seeing some of these teams like TCU, ASU, Duke et al., who have far fewer resources and far less talent, just operating in completely different stratopheres than us right now. <Sighs>

I'm starting to like what the playoff committee is putting together. FSU has looked pretty bad by their standards, so Oregon deserves to jump them. One can make the argument that TCU should've jumped them as well. Clearly not much SEC bias with this group.

But, I'd push back on the Trevor Mattich's love for Ohio State.  He would put them 4th, forgiving them for the VTech loss b/c it was early in the season and they're a different team. That's true.  But, they also went to OT versus Penn State on the road in the last week of October.  According to Football Outsiders the 2nd highest ranked win they have is Maryland at 42.

Now FO has them 3rd in the country, so me citing them comes with some issues.  Meh, F 'em.

Here is a scenario.  Bama beats Miss St.  Miss St ends up missing the playoffs with one loss.  Meanwhile, Jim Harbaugh does, indeed, choose to stay in the NFL.  Dan Mullen would be extremely "poachable" because he would have had one loss in the SEC only to not make the playoff.

You just never know...

I don't really think Miss State is better than Bama, tbh. And if they get a loss, they're going to get Baylor'd for that out of conference schedule. And unlike Baylor, who is still in the driver's seat for the Big 12 title, Mississippi State would have to get help from Auburn to get back into the SEC title hunt.

I think the likely scenario is this season will be great but not TOO great to jeopardize Mullen poach efforts.

Give me a break. Georgia has lost to a pretty bad Florida and South Carolina teams and they move ahead of Nebraska? Auburn falls to #9 after losing to unranked Texas A&M? Texas A&M is now ranked after this week.

You can say there's no SEC bias and I will gladly tell you bullshit.

Neither is that great.  TCU just lucked out that Minny is having a pretty good year.  Both Baylor and TCU played SMU and both played a 1-AA team.  Baylor played Buffalo and TCU played Minny.  So TCU does get credit for scheduling a Power 5 team and that team, Minny, is having a good year but it's not like TCU's out of conference schedule is light years better then Baylor's.
