This thread has some nice giggles in it. Started off fairly civil, but has gotten worse real quick.

Best line ever:
"We are Spartans and that means being classy."
Sure.
I have no problem whatsoever with what any of those young ladies are doing.
Its his loss more than ours, hopefully he changes his mind again, if not whatever and move on. Nothing to see here. I dont want a kid thats a liar anyway, "im not pittman" yes thats exactly what you are to the MSU fanbase. Good luck playing for perennial underachievers, Texas or some other shitty Big 12 school in a shitty conference. An MSU fan calling Texas/Oklahoma perennial underachievers. Now I've seen it all
They can't close on anyone in Michigan or Ohio so they take a risk by going after kids thousands of miles away. This doesn't surprise me at all. Having gone through 40 years of mediocrity the return of those days seems evident with the inability to recruit against nd, osu and of course hoke. Yeah I'm pissed.
Just for kicks I jumped to the last page and caught this gem:
"Get the fuck off of our board nobody here gives a shit about Michigan or what your stupid ass thinks about it.
I hate your coach, I hate your school, and I hate your asswipe fanbase."
So he doesn't care at all about Michigan, but he harbors a burning hatred for Michigan. I wonder what his third personality thinks about Michigan.
Yeah, this one couldn't have been a surprise at all. MSU was his second offer and he committed relatively soon after receiving it, even though he never stepped foot on campus. Also, Dantonio agreed to allow him to continue to visit other schools, even though that's not his usual mode of operation.
He might have stayed with them except for the fact that the Texas offers started rolling in-- Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor (where his brother plays) and then Texas this weekend. He's also camping at Oklahoma right now.
In order to avoid bad karma wrecking our class, I will abstain from having any fun with this, except to say that it's too bad for them, but clearly, not a surprise to anyone.
I will give Sparty a little credit for getting in there early with him, but it is always hard to get a Texas kid to resist when the Longhorns come calling. Luckily for them, he also did this in June rather than 7 months from now on Signing Day.
When Sparty was puffing out their chest earlier this spring about expanding their recruiting base nationally, this is the reality that comes along with that. Recruiting nationally is difficult even for the elite programs. Few programs suffer as many decommitments annually as Notre Dame, and I think that is because they rely on recruiting nationally to survive. Another reason I am thankful for Brady Hoke with his strategy to emphasize building his base in the Midwest (Michigan, Ohio, & Illinois).
You post as a Spartan Fan on the Red Cedar board, so I'm sure you will abstain from having fun with this.
Ouch, 1/7th of their class decommitted. Actually, given that he was 6'5" 321, it's really more like 1/4th of their class decommitted.
Apparently Jon Reshke is no Shane Morris.
The guy that said that is normally trolling their own board.
Horns!!
"That little son of a Benenoch!!!"
Given the kid's attitude on Twitter, it seemed like he committed to State just to secure a spot somewhere rthat has been reasonably successful. Then he blew up at camp (I see Scout and Rivals started him off as a 3*) and jumped ship when the big offers came in. He took a page out of Saban's playbook it seems.
I'd assume State's coaching staff knew this day was coming and wasn't turning away other OL commits, but who knows.
I mean, considering he was their only O-Line commit (now they have none), I highly doubt the staff was turning anybody away.
How goes it over at trcmb?
That much of it, hunh?
That is a lot of spartyfreude
Good thing we have the moral high ground here, since no highly regarded recruit has ever decommitted from Michigan.
Who have we lost recently? Certainly not our top recruit in each of the past 2 classes.
Great to hear he'll be going to college after all. His parents must be so proud.
You win.
I see what you did there.
It's almost sad that there are actually a few fans over there who have some class, but are stuck with what is "the norm" for Sparty. The classy ones are begging the mods to lock all threads pertaining to Benenoch. It seems they know how hard we are laughing at them right now, and that recruits and their parents read recruiting boards.
I hope the mods don't listen.
Update: they are closing the board at midnight for a "hardware upgrade." That's either clever spinning or fortuitious timing. I vote for the former.
So in other words, EVERYONE, that matters, wins!
Good for Caleb, good for us, and bad for Sparty. This works for me.
I think this is just more proof of the long arm of Urban Meyer. Even though he had cooled on this guy, he still got him to decommit.
Out of the Caroline Islands in the North Pacific....the next hot recruiting bed for gigantic offensive lineman. Remember what Tony Mandarich could do? Well these Micronesian guys do it without the (no longer alleged) 'roids. Sparty will do in Yap in 2012 what the Red Wings did in Russia and Sweden through the 90's...absolutely kill it when no one else even knows there's a game to be played. Texas recruits?...American recruits?...who needs 'em?
So which one of our walk-ons does Dantonio offer a scholly to now?
The only thing that could make the Spartyfreude any better is if Caleb gave a reason for de-committing along the lines of:
" I was really committed to MSU, but then I saw how classlessly Coach Dantonio behaved at this past winters HS Coaching Clinic. I don't know, he was so rude to the Michigan coach, kind a bully, you know? I just didn't want to be a part of a team where that kind of behavior was considered OK. That's not how my parents raised me; so I figured I'd be better off someplace else."
Of course the fallout from the meltdown in East Lansing would probably take out central North America, so that would be bad....
It appears that Mark Dantonio is putting a nice spin on the MSU recruiting class

"We're being very, very selective. You can't make mistakes."
I know it is an mlive link but thought it fit into this thread.
Again, when a kid commits without setting foot on campus, then visits every other school but your own, it really isn't a surprise. But given what we've seen and heard about MSU's line depth, you have to wonder how they will be able to maintain any semblance of the competitiveness they've displayed the past couple of years.
